Jorja Fox and George Eads Fired from CSI!!!

I'm glad they cast her, but I'd rather see her in more of an active role than a lab-person. I was really enjoying her kick-ass agent turn towards the end of 24 last season!

Now if they'd only hire Carlos Bernard to replace Eads!
I like the choice of Reiko...she may replace Marg for each episode's "gratuitous cleavage shot"

From what I have read, prior to their holdouts, their S5 salaries were bumped up to $100K/episode. $2.2M for a season's (8 months or so) work (where half of their job is looking into microscopes and dusting for prints) is pretty sweet if you ask me. Their agents must have been on something to think that they could extract more out of CBS. They are not like the actors on West Wing who successfully tried the same thing.

So I guess they were making in the $30-$50k per episode?? which is still pretty good
I agree with Moonves they should have honoured their contract signed although I'm surprised producer "par excellence" Jerry Bruckheimer didn't step in b4 things got out of hand. He's got almost as much power as Moonves in Tinstletown.
I also think that the show being #1 the last 3 season must bring in millions for the network (advertising, dvd sales,syndication,etc..)
I think actors should be given a piece of that cash pie like a yearly bonus or something
I remember last year William Peterson's contract was bumped to $300k/episode although he's the star and co-creator so he has more clout
Myabe this will give Greg and Capt. Brass more airtime
Is that new Aynesworth girl the one who tried to hook up with Carlos Bernard in season 3??..She's very pretty but hardly ever smiled on the show..Of course trying to stop a nuclear bomb from hitting L.A. is serious business

Reiko played Michelle Dessler on "24" and was married to Tony, and was kicking some serious booty when she got the spotlight during the middle episodes of this past season.

From: A little bit here and a little bit there.
They were only making 100K an episode. poor babies.
Serves 'em right! they are not "high-caliber" stars like Petersen and helgenberger. They were more like supporting characters in my opinion.
I didn't care for eads and his square jaw. He bugged me.
I liked fox. She was cute, if a bit dour all the time.
I think the show will survive just fine. Too bad petersen didn't get a love scene with fox.
Hopefully their replacements will be good actors and not cardboard cutouts types.

I am glad someone else has noticed this. I have no problems with major players involved in a production reaping the rewards. If it is pro athletes(and coaches and staff), actors (and writers/directors, etc)or employees of a prosperous and profitable company. It is the talent that is producing the money and should get more than just a taste of that success. Now they should have gone about this a little smarter.

Which they already had received. They got a bump up for season 3 from the original amount that they were being paid. CBS had every right to do what they did.

And as I said, they got a bump-up to 100K starting this season. It is not like CBS is paying them at the same level they made before it became a hit (and I believe CBS was under no obligation to give them anything more since I believe their original contracts were for 5 years).

So they got two raises, that CBS had no obligation to provide to them.

Read what Les Moonves had to say on tvguide.com. They got a raise after S1. They were offered a raise (to 100K acc'd to another article) prior to this season. Their contracts are for 7 years.

has it been mentioned that Eads is playing Evel Kinievel on TNT, I think this coming weekend?
they need to change the promo though, they keep saying "CSI's George Eads"

No prob. She is quite easy on the eyes. But, hopefully she won't be stuck in the lab. That would be a waste.

I just read the articles about the firings, and it seems the situation was handled poorly by both sides. CBS had the legal right to fire the actors, but I don't think they should have exercised that right so quickly. CBS could have given them a one day grace period to get back to work and fulfill their contracts, and they could have even punished them for not showing on the first day. This would have sent the same message and would not have upset the fans as much. I hope CBS allows Fox and Eads to swallow their pride and come back.

Fired 'CSI' Actor Denies Salary Holdout
By LYNN ELBER, AP Television Writer
LOS ANGELES - Fired "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" actor George Eads says he wasn't staging a salary holdout when he missed work — he overslept.
AP Photo
He hoped what he called a "big misunderstanding" with CBS and its chief, Leslie Moonves, will be resolved by the end of the week and he will be back to work on the hit drama, Eads said Wednesday.
"Yeah, definitely, I look forward to going back," he told a Television Critics Association meeting. He was on hand to publicize his upcoming TV movie "Evel Knievel," airing July 30 on TNT.
Eads and "CSI" co-star Jorja Fox (news) were dumped by CBS last week after failing to show up for the start of production on the upcoming fifth season. The network said they had demanded raises beyond their contracts.
The actors reportedly were making $100,000 per episode for the series, which airs about 24 episodes a season.
CBS had no immediate comment on Eads' remarks, network spokesman Chris Ender said Wednesday. A call to Fox's publicist was not immediately returned.
"They think it's about money and it's not," Eads said. "I overslept. ... I woke up white as a sheet 3 1/2 hours after I was supposed to be on the set."
He called in, said he was on his way and was told, "Don't bother," Eads said. The Texas native compared himself to a football star who makes a similar error.
"It's like I'm the quarterback with the Dallas Cowboys and I overslept the first day of practice," he said. "I'd expect the coach to have me run hills and run wind sprints until the sun goes down, not you know, completely fire me."
Asked if CBS had sought an apology from him, he replied: "Let me tell you, I've apologized nine ways to Sunday. It's a big misunderstanding, straight up."
"I want all this to work out. 'CSI' is a part of who I am," Eads said.
Eads said he wants to speak with Moonves to resolve the issue but had yet to reach him. He compared getting hold of Moonves, a top executive with CBS parent company Viacom, to reaching the mysterious Charlie in "Charlie's Angels."
"If after I've spoken to him from my heart he knows exactly what the situation is, he's the boss. It's still up to him."
At a session last Sunday with the TV critics, Moonves called the firings a fair business decision.
"There comes a point where we feel a contract is a contract. ... We all have to look out for the future of the network television business," said Moonves, co-president and co-chief operating officer of Viacom.
Eads echoed those comments Wednesday, saying he agreed "a contract is a contract."
