I don't see the alliance strategy working on this show. Dat already proved you don't have to have an alliance with anybody and you can still win. Nobody gets challenged a bunch of times because nobody wants to go up against someone who has won a couple of times already. They're all going to have to face the music eventually.

Pointing out the truth is exactly why Heffron is so funny: he highlights the parts of life that have genuine humor, instead of trying to pull a joke out nothing. He pulls his jokes from the humor we all see, he just puts a small twist on it (the part about kids dragging their feet that he did last week, and how he translated that to "Don't you wish we could do that at work?"
). Personally, I think he's the funniest person I've EVER seen on this show.

I agree completely...I told my wife "Some of the best comics are ones EVERYONE can relate to by talking about things we all have been through or heard about...I mean I had a swing set exactly like the one he talked about...And the jokes about the Video Games were excellent and REALLY hit home!!!

Why is it that virtually all the jokes told in performance by everyone in this group are jokes they've used in routines before? I don't laugh at them anymore because I've seen them a thousand times on their Comedy Central specials or on Premium Blend reruns.
Haven't they written ANY new material in the last five years?

Because, like already mentioned, this is a game. They want to win. So instead of using unproven material, they are gonna stick to their best stuff to win.

I guess we'll find out as the show goes on.

True, but if they all had great sets, they still wouldn't be obscure comedians. They would all have HBO/Comedy Central/SNL gigs.

I'm surprised the show didn't build in some sort of rule about not repeating a set two times in a row. It would be easy to write into the contracts and would make the show MUCH more viewer-friendly. Plus, it'd give us all a better idea of who is the best comic. A lot of hacks can produce 5 minutes of good material. Not many can triple that output and not drop off.
If NBC does this show again, I hope they introduce a clause to that effect.

Just got back from a Dave Mordal show. Note to self: don't do that again. He was pretty funny I guess, but not as a headliner.

Well don't forget, every one has different preferences. So he may be a headliner for you and me!

Seriously, he may have just had an off night. He was often lost in his routine and had to ramble to the audience a lot to recover. Some of his stuff was pretty funny, but it just wasn't a very polished effort and not what you'd expect from the headliner. I think the guy who performed before him was probably better.
