This is what I asked earlier since I remember Taxi not having a real finale - it was abrutly cancelled.

I dug up this from epguides.com re: the last episode produced.

Really loved the Way Bob Newhart ended his show, Bob and Emily in bed, Bob having a dream and waking up and asking Emily if she could try to wear more sweaters.

Great ending to a great comedy.

Newhart was a great ending. Also, when Newhart hosted SNL in the early 90s he ended his SNL apperance with waking up in the bed which was funny.

Of the one's I've seen, I'd rate MASH the best.

I think "Cheers" was my favority followed by "The Cosby Show".

Cheers is the best of those listed. HOWEVER, the best series finale I've seen (I realize its not a sitcom, so that's why it wasn't in the poll) is "All Good Things" for Star Trek: The Next Generation...it was better than any of the movies they did, and a classy way to end the show.

NOTE: The last 15 minutes of this historic broadcast are a monlogue written and delivered by Roseanne. In perhaps the most surprising and effective post-modern coup in modern television, the entire last season of the show is revealed to be the character Roseanne's fantasies as she struggles to deal with the death of Dan (who presumably did not survive his heart attack during Darlene and David's wedding). Then, pushing the envelope further, Roseanne/author and Roseanne/character reveal that the entire series has been part of the fantasy, and that the characters we have come to know are fictional composites of the "real" people in "Roseanne's" life: "Darlene" is really married to "Mark" and a pregnant "Becky" to "David," "Jackie" is gay, etc. This does not entirely make retrospective sense, but it is undeniably a powerful way for Roseanne to take back authorship of her show.
*In episode 8.24, there is a point where Dan opens his eyes for the first time since his heart attack. Everything from that point to the end of the series is all made up, according to Roseanne. We also find out that everything we saw between Becky and Mark actually happened between Becky and David. (Remember their little romance in episode 7.21?) And everything that happened between Darlene and David actually happened between Darlene and Mark. We also learn that Jackie was a lesbian (Remember all her men problems?).

I'd say "Newhart" just for the sheer nerviness of it all, followed by "Cheers," which just had a perfect ending.

We should have room for "Frasier" on this poll too, since it'll air next week! I personally look forward to that more than I did the "Friends" ending.

Cheers was good, but only because of the part when they're all sitting in the bar after Sam returns from the airport. Everything up to that point was kinda lame.

Cheers will always have a place in my heart and I loved the MASH one but never saw that when it was originally broadcast. I also find it funny to realize that I've seen the final episode of Taxi, one of my favorite sitcoms of all times, without even realizing it was the finale. :)

But in the end, my favorite finale (and i know that this makes me unique and maybe a weird person with bad taste) was Night Court. I just loved that show and remember thinking the end was just hilarious. I loved the thing with all the various amazing job offers that kept coming to Harry over the course of the episode. But then again, I was a fan of Wings and my friend accuses me of liking mediocre sitcoms, so what do I know. :)

But of those listed above, I can't remember anything else about the rest of the episodes (other than Seinfeld) because it has been so long since I have seen them.

i went with seinfeld, obviously. newhart was a pretty good one though, and it's showing in the poll.
