Good ep, though it would have been more compelling in some ways if Chappelle wasn't so much of a jerk before. He couldn't out-Mason Mason. Mason at least showed more humanity than Ryan.

I agree that killing Chappelle doesn't seem to make a lot of sense for Saunders, unless/except he wanted the fake router room to be found (I also feel bad for those guards!). Is it possible Chappelle has something embedded in him, or something, that makes having his dead body important.

What if the guys guarding the room were a liability? Pretty handy way for Saunders to cover his tracks, Having CTU take out his men. Then just for fun mess with Jack, Palmer, & Chapelle for fun to initiate this process.

I agree with your speculation on Saunders. While slightly disappointing - because it would have been cool for there to be some giant, diabolical reason for his motives, but I don't think that's the case. I think he's doing what he's doing to show everyone that they are all simply puppets at his disposal.

That said, excellent episode on Sunday - gripping with excitement!

Somebody mentioned the virus handshake which of course happened at the end of last season. With the exception of the president looking at it and I think rubbing the infected area on his hand there has been no mention of what happened to him and who did it. Does anyone have any information about something I may have missed? Or does anyone have any ideas as to what that was all about?

i think your wrong on both accounts, first of all, in season 2 they did the no beep thing, when mason said that he was going to go out. (he is walking out of the ctu building, then no beep), the first time they did this when Teri died right at the end of season 1. also in the season 2 finale they did a heartbeat when Mandy gave a virus to Palmer.

It has not been mentioned this season, but Palmer does have a lot of scarring on his right palm.

Are you sure? I thought it was mentioned briefly early in the season... he was out/down for a few days but it passed/wasn't serious.

Correct. It was glossed over in the first episode or two, but has since not been mentioned. Maybe it will be brought back up in the coming weeks?
