Tru Calling - 04/15/04

(Dropping the spoilers since this is getting a bit silly, and it's all speculation)
I'm not sure I agree. Jack's interest in Harrison seems motivated by the way Tru kept fixing Harrison's relationship with Lindsey, when if left to his own devices, he would have screwed it up long ago. If Jack has any goal here, it seems up to this point that it's to restore order. Tru's calling is to save those who ask for her help, not use that time to fix her family's problems (speaking of which, thank God they ditched the sister for a while). Remember a few weeks ago Jack tried to get Tru to recognize this, suggesting she not always bail Harrison out, but she ends up helping him anyway. Now he's moved on to Harrison directly. Although the "help me" seems out of place, it also can be inferred that Tru wasn't supposed to help Melissa back in 'Two Pair', but she did anyway. I dunno ... it just seems that up to this point, Jack has simply been counterbalancing Tru's meddling. As such, I don't think he's trying to pull Harrison to his side per se, but simply have an influence on him to restore the balance.
As the season progressed I was really getting annoyed at how the Harrison plots were all the same and almost felt it was "wrong" for Tru to keep fixing his life. However, if all those episodes are building to something like we're discussing, then I'd have to change my opinion of all those previous scenes.

So probably Jack is either an evil counteragent to Tru or is just there to teach her lessons in what she should and shouldn't do with her power. Personally, I find the former more interesting (like Sam and the Evil Leaper). Time and the writers will tell (I hope before it's cancelled - please renew this show, Fox).

My theory is that Jack and the carjacker were in on it together and their performance was played out for Harrison. Jack knew Harrison was going to see Lindsay that night and that the dinner with Lindsay's sister was very important to her. Jack's stunt allowed him to gain influence over Harrison. Hell, it's all speculation.

Jack's stunt (which he could have set up when the day rewound if it rewound for him also) allowed him to gain influence over Harrison. As I said above, Harrison may become the important element in an ultimate battle between Tru and Jack and Jack wants him on his side.

But how could have Jack known Tru was not going to get the Jeep that broke down? If she got the Jeep again she would have called again and he would have gone to pick her up, thus leaving the bar earlier then he did. So if he "set it up" how would he have known when?? And that he would be there?
My guess he is....................

I like the theory that Jack is there to clean up some of the stuff that are not suppose to be changed by Tru. Tru's calling is to save the person who ask for her help. But sometimes she change other people's life either intentionally or unintentionally in the process. Jack is there as a cleaner to make sure she doesn't meddle in someone else's life that didn't ask her for help.

I like the counterbalancing theory better than the Evil Leaper theory. I can see him being an agent of fate.
Either way this show got way way better since this side story was introduced.

Somebody on a previous thread thought Jack was going to be an Evil Tru, like the Evil Leaper on Quantum Leap. Seems like we are all 50/50 between that or Das monkeys balancer theory.

I like the theory that his days rewind, but he cannot directly effect Tru's work, only indirectly. Whether he is the Grim Reaper, the Devil, or just a balancer of fate is yet to be seen.
I will agree that the sub-plot between Jack and Harrison was much better than Tru's sub-plot w/ the AI girl. And thank the tv gods that she didn't sing.

just something to point out, re: jack/harrison/lindsay
remember in the 1st day, outside the funeral home, when jack introduced himself to lindsay, he looked really interested in her, then in day 2, tells harrison to break it off...
thoughts?
