Coupling

I'm actually a huge fan of the original UK version

There has been a US version which has already been cancelled, i think some episodes haven't even aired

Did anyone see the US version ?

what happens to unaired episodes ?

The US version was just painfully bad. Stick to your DVDs and pretend the remake never existed.

The US version was attempting to be an almost exact duplicate (see threads in this forum linked below) without mimicing the comedic timing of the original - a BAD IDEA. Also Jeff (org Breckin Meyer), Susan (org Melissa George) and Sally (org Emily Rutherfurd) were recast at the last minute after the Pilot ("Inferno") was in the can. The results were disasterous as half the cast struggled to get "comedic chemistry" with the new members overnight. Also Jeff is the lynchpin of that show and Christopher Moynihan just was AWFUL - not nearly BIG enough to be Jeff (neurotic, etc).

The show was cancelled after 4 episodes. Unfortunately the final episode "Check/Mate" was actually an original episode (I wasn't surprised that NBC balked on the "Inferno" script from the UK ). That episode actually showed promise. Too bad NBC overhyped this show. Had they allowed it to run its course without all the casting changes and dickering around and overpromotion, it might have gained momentum and been pretty good (although all the original UK scripts would have been exhausted by the end of one full season). BTW BBC American was showing the UK version of each episode immediately after the US version aired on NBC - which of course helped affirm that the new version paled in comparison.

There were six unaired episodes:
Present Tense
A Foreign Affair (a.k.a. The Girl with Two Breasts)
Nipple Effect
Dressed
Object Lessons
Holiday (a.k.a. Thanksgiving)

How did you MISS this whole thing? NBC was TOUTING it EVERYWHERE since mid-summer as part of the new MUST SEE TV. It was named the biggest disappointment of the new season!

Coupling Series Premiere 9.25
Coupling 10/2/03
Coupling 10/9/03

Had to be one of the biggest disappointments of all time, considering all the hype they gave it. I'm generally a fan of British comedies, but I hadn't seen this one on BBC America. I'll try to catch a few episodes if I can, or maybe just rent the DVD.

I thought the US version of it was pretty good. I didn't notice any of the problems mentioned above. I later rented the first season of Coupling from netflix to see what was so bad about the US version. I didn't really see it as being substantially better than the US versions of the same episodes. I found both extremely funny.

Check/Mate actually was decent. The US take on Sex, Death, and Nudity wasn't bad either. The first 2 episodes were terrible.

See well that is why the BBS profile gods created the "LOCATION" field.
