I HATE Reality TV!!!!!!
Okay, this crap is getting out of hand. I remember tuning in to the very first episode of Survivor and thinking that it was a horrible show and that it would never catch on if America's viewers had any sense whatsoever.
Guess that's why I don't work for any major media conglomorate. For the record, I also hated MTV's Real World when it hit airwaves back in the early 90s.
Anyway, I am sick and tired of seeing good shows like Karen Sisco and Angel get thrown off the air in favor of shows about some yuppie wannabes wanting to vote somone off an island where three people compete about who gets to makeover someone's home while singing hits from yesteryear....just me I guess.

No, ITA--Count me in as another huge non-fan of so-called "reality TV".
How long is it gonna take before the dreck like "Mr. Personality" and "Joe Millionaire" (Thank goodness those shows won't be returning) that continue to pile on with the ranks of more popular garbage like "The Bachelor" and "Average Joe" get so overly-redundant to the TV-viewing population that it self-destructs?
We'll probably see more "Apprentice" and "Simple Life" knock-offs before it's all over.

I enjoy reality TV... well not all of it. I'm not a fan of the Real World or the Average joe dating/ bachelor stuff.
But bring on Survivor vs. The Littlest Groom!

I dislike using the word "hate," but it's close to what I feel about what this crap is doing to the state of TV these days.
The bar has been lowered, and I believe it's permanent.

I don't know, I would rather watch a well done reality show (e.g. Survivor, Amazing Race) than 95% of the (what I consider) crap on TV today.
Don't get me wrong, I think most reality TV is crap, too.

I don't think Angel getting yanked had anything to do with reality TV. It'll most likely be replaced by a cheaper to produce new series....so if anything, you should hate those TV executives who are trying to make money.

like reality TV shows, at least the first time they are on (not the second or third or fourth version of the same show). I guess it's the novelty of it.
I rarely watch "normal" TV, in fact the only non reality show I currently try to watch on a regular basis is "Scrubs". The reality shows I try to watch at this time are "My Big Obnoxious Fiance" and "The Apprentice".
I don't watch much TV, though I do rent two or three movies / documentaries per week (I can rent them for $1 each, so it's not too expensive).

Would you like some cheese with that whine?
Seriously, Survivor is a good show. It has gotten a bit redundant, yes, but still it's one of the most original and innovative shows ever. Granted, networks have gone overboard with "reality" shows, but they are are not all bad. Personally I am bored to tears with the countless drama shows (eg. CSI, Law & Order, etc.) on the air these days, but I don't complain about it. If I don't like it, I don't watch.

I have never watched Survivor, but is it really a reality show? Wouldn't it be more of a survival/game show? Yes a lot of the show is about the interaction, but isn't the object to win the prizes.

I also do not care for the "reality" shows. It never seems real to me. These shows seem to appeal to the worst possible aspects of human behavior. It seems to much like watching accidents on the highway. It may be interesting, but do we need to stare at it?
In my house I am usually outvoted. My wife and son enjoy Survivor, Big Brother and I watch other things.
Thank goodness for dvd's.

I hate them, I find myself watching around 75% less TV since this sh*t started appearing on tv. It's basically like what wrestling was in the 80's, its all scripted acting, but yet people watch it like some unfolding drama.

With the trend towards more reality shows, I find I have less TV to watch - so I almost consider it a blessing in disguise.
Right now I only watch Apprentice because my room-mate got me hooked and the occasional episode of Family Business.
Next season, I can only think of 2 things to watch on regular TV - Simpsons, NFL.
