Umm...why no mention of Phoebe's family members other than her step dad? She stated that she didn't have anyone to give her away: what about her brother? Or her mom? Sister-in law? Etc?

Also, what happened at the end (during the credits). TiVo cut me off.

Ross was outside with Chappy; Monica was inside with Chandler (Chandler turned down Joey's invitation because he was scheduled to have the most organizaed sex ever).

It was Ross w/ Mr. Chappy. Monica had Chandler slated for "nekkid" at 2300 hrs. - maybe 2400... let's just say 2300-ish.
{Awww caRp! beaten to the punch again! }

i also found it strange that none of Phoebe's family members were there or mentioned (except for her step dad). It would've been a kick to see Frank & family meet Ursula.

Her mom is dead, and I'm not sure why they didn't include her real father (who she found several years ago) or her brother (as played by Giovanni Ribisi).

I think she's mentioned several times that her mom killed herself when Phoebe was like 11. One specific example was the episode with Jason Alexander when she was trying to convince him not to kill himself.

Her biological mom is still around...
I don't see Ursula attending the wedding..
Being the finale they might have had the step brother and
his wife along ..but I can see it would have just been
a token appearance.

I too thought the ep was fairly bland. Monica's character was obnoxious. Chandler in husband character= not too funny.
Ross+Chandler= more funny
Uneven in the laughs department ...but what can you expect from a "very special" episode.

However I do find it funny when the "critics" denounce the
show and state it should have ended xx seasons ago.
My thought is ...well why in the heck are you still watching something you clearly don't like...and posting on a message board about the show.
I for one no longer watch ER or the Practice(I caught one ep of practice this season)...but I don't go onto the boards to talk about how they no longer do it for me. Move on already. I'm sure there are threads for shows you do like.

I've asked this before. It makes no sense to me either. I only watch television I enjoy.

It's like having a hobby that you hate. It just makes no sense.

[staple answer]Cuz we've invested time over the years watching it already and we like to see if the show will still redeem itself[/staple answer] <--- even though they keep on saying it should've ended at season 6 or something. That's what, 4 seasons you waded thru to see if the show would redeem itself? Talk about a waste of time man.

I for one still watch the show cuz I still like it. Not so I can bitch about how sucky it is every week.

I like the show myself, but last night's was definitely a little weak. I was already a little sick of the incessant promos for it (it's only gonna get worse of course), but the episode just seemed underwritten and forced. And Monica definitely jumped the shark from cute-obnoxious into just plain annoying as hell for me.

I can't remember this all entirely clear, so my facts might be a little off. I know she always said her mom killed herself when she was young. Then she thought some other woman was her mom (not too sure about the episode, might have been around the time of "The One with the Jellyfish") but the woman denied it. She never actually found her real father. She went to his house and he had left Frank and his mother. Her stepdad is obviously in jail, and she never got along with Ursula. And her grandmother died a while ago. So the only family members I could see being at her wedding were Frank, his wife, and their three kids (which are Phoebe's offspring).

I didn't find last night's episode very funny either. A lot of the jokes just felt forced, and Chandler's timing just seemed way off. Obsessive compulsive Monica is no new thing, but I think she would even know she was being rude when she rushed Phoebe's rehearsal toast. OC Monica, especially in this ep., can get very annoying. It was funny when Joey kept referring himself as Phoebe's dad, but then they ran that into the ground. Ross was the highlight of the episode for me - I couldn't stop laughing when he displayed how well he could walk down the aisle. I love this show, but I do think it's time has come.

- Lily, the mom she grew up with stuck her head in the oven or something when they were young.
- Phoebe played by Teri Garr was one of Lily's best friends, was the one living on the beach and is her biological mother. The thing she denied was whether the guy in the picture that Phoebe saw stuck on her fridge was her real dad or not. It wasn't. It was Chuck Mangione.
- Frank Sr., her dad showed up during the funeral service for her grandma so they've met.

Since Teri Garr (Phoebe) and Bob Balaban (Frank Sr.) are Phoebe's biological parents, who is her stepfather? I don't remember him ever being mentioned.

See, that's why I need to rewatch all the old episodes because I am just forgetting details.

THANK YOU for confirming this for me. I knew Phoebe's real mom wasn't dead, and her dad was still around. I was beginning to think I missed an episode where her real mom and dad died.

I liked the sentimental side of it, but humorwise it was probably the worst one this season. The humor was just out there, and some of the regulars seemed out of wack. For two weeks now they've went overboard with Joey. Yes, he's dumb... but in the last two eps he seems completely out of touch with reality... almost insane. Monica has become a one-note character. What were once cute personality quirks have now overpowered her persona, and it ain't pretty. And Chandler was way too emasculated... he couldn't think of football? After he's been characterised as a relative sports nut over the years?

I think they seemed more into sports early on in the show, but then there was that episode where Chandler didn't know who Paul O'Neill was (Yankees player) and it was sort of a running gag that he needed to watch ESPN. But I remember the first few years when they were always watching hockey and basketball. Anyways, minor quirks. I also thought the show should have ended a couple seasons ago, but its still not too bad. I just prefer shows to go out on top.

I recently bought the season 3 dvd. The show was so different back then! And so much better. Chandler was all energetic and crazy, and had seemed to have balls. Now it seems he has been castrated, no energy. Joey looks a it old now, but he is ok. I dunno, the show is dealing with mature issues now-babies,marriages, buying houses-its not the same show. It doesnt have the same energy level as the early seasons.
And this week Monica at the rehearsal-wayyy over the top.

I too think everything in this episode was forced. Monica was over the top annoying. Chandler wasn't funny. Joey's stupid jokes were really stupid. Ross was pretty funny though.

I usually "don't" like a Friends episode but I didn't like this one at all.

Friends is still my favorite show on television, and I'm sad to see that it is ending. As for the new episode, I thought it was great. Joey's godfather speech and his honeymoon advice, Monica being a absolute psycho, Ross and Chandler fighting over being in the wedding, and finally Phoebe finally getting married.

My favorite line was when Ross was like "It a wedding, I have to be in it!!"

I'm just glad they got this episode out of the way. At least that's one "Very special Friends" out of the way. I was worried that the show would end with the wedding. At least they can mix things up a bit for the end.

here's hoping.

The character that is Monica just about ruined this entire ep for me. Luckily Joey saved it, and Phoebe helped in that department, too.

Same here, last weeks episode was way better.
