Selleck is a good choice. I always thought he was better on t.v. anyway.
New york is good idea for CSI.
Lots of evidence to be trampled on.
But the idea of selleck in hawaii is funny.
Macadamian nuts anyone?

tom selleck,
mark harmon,
william petersen,
david caruso.
Glad to see more manly men on t.v. shows. Even if they only play crime scene investigators.

On that same report segment this morning... Mike Evans said that Tom Selleck says he doesn't have time for TV, because he has too many movie commitments right now...
Next up... he's playing Dwight Eisenhower in some movie...

Real movies or only TNT made-for-TV movies?
I haven't seen him in a theatrical release since 3 men and a little lady!

CBS Eyes Sinise for New 'CSI'
(Monday, March 08 08:43 AM)
LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Could the next enigmatic, high strung, socially awkward "CSI" team leader be Gary Sinise? According to industry reporters, the Emmy winner and Oscar nominee is in ongoing talks with CBS and the show's producers about possibly toplining "CSI: New York," the latest installment in the network's powerhouse franchise.
Talks with Sinise have reportedly been on-again, off-again. Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that discussions nearly broke down before last week, but that conversations have resumed.
The networks needs to get preliminary casting underway soon, because "CSI: New York" will be spun-off from an episode of Monday night hit "CSI: Miami" in much the same way "CSI: Miami" was spun-off from Thursday night juggernaut "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation."
Following the blueprint that helped turn "CSI: Miami" into a smash, the spin-off episode (expected to be the season's penultimate hour in May) will feature a crime that begins in Miami and has connections with New York, facilitating the introduction of a new team of investigators.
Sinise won an Emmy for the 1997 TNT telefilm "George Wallace," picking up a nomination for the 1995 original "Truman" (he won Screen Actors Guild Awards for both performances). He was nominated for an Oscar for 1994's "Forrest Gump."
The actor's other television credits include "Crime Story," the Stephen King miniseries "The Stand" and a guest appearance on "Frasier." His most recent big screen appearances were in "The Big Bounce" and "The Human Stain."

More info about the spinoff has surfaced:
http://www.darkhorizons.com/news04/040317d.php
CSI Files has just received the first details on what characters to expect in the second spin-off from the hit "C.S.I." series which is set in New York and is currently tipped to be lead by Gary Sinise.
"The new series will reportedly be introduced in episode twenty-three of CSI: Miami's second season, currently scheduled to start shooting in early April. Following the trail of a double homicide in Miami, Horatio Caine (David Caruso) comes to New York to work with his counterparts there on solving the murder of a wealthy Big Apple hotel magnate and his wife.
While in New York, Horatio works closely with Calucci, the lead crime scene investigator. Calucci's as cool as a cucumber at every crime scene, effortlessly observing all the little details that could make or break a case. Horatio and Calucci share a professional bond, but their working relationship also has the hint of rivalry.
Calucci's fellow CSI is Stella Bonasera, a half-Greek, half-Italian beauty. According to the character description in the pilot script, Bonasera has a take-no-prisoners approach to crime solving: "She loves science. Loves using it to bust the balls of suspects."
The CSIs will be aided in their investigations by a range of supporting characters. These include Detective Don Flack, from the NYPD's Homicide Division. Born in the Bronx, he's big, beefy and doesn't mince his words. New York's equivalent of Al Robbins and Alexx Woods is Dr. Sheldon Hawkes, the Medical Examiner. He's described as "a flamboyant, one hundred and forty pounds dripping wet native New Yorker".
The CSI: New York pilot episode contains many touches to distinguish the series from its predecessors. Calucci isn't your typical "science geek" like Gil Grissom: in one scene he chases a suspect across the rooftops of several Big Apple apartment complexes, jumping from building to building. Locations are also distinctly New York, with the medical examiner's office situated in New York University's Institute of Forensic Medicine. The 19th century building's autopsy room, where Calucci consults with Dr. Hawkes, is bigger and even more austere than its Las Vegas and Miami counterparts, with multiple slabs for examinations."
Looks like one of the female CSIs is the woman who played Claudia, the hispanic girlfriend of one of the Salazar's on 24.

DVD Talk Legend
Love Gary Sinise, but is he leading-man material? Regardless, this HAS to be better than CSI:Miami, which I find to be very, very average.
I was really hoping for CSI: Mars. Set in the year 3004 and starring William Shatner.
