Sharon Osbourne Show Canceled
Thu Jan 29, 7:30 PM ET Add Television - E! Online to My Yahoo!

By Lia Haberman

Sharon Osbourne's attempts to strike out on her own have failed

The wacky lady's daytime talker--featuring Ozzy's missus hosting in-bed interviews--has been axed by the Tribune stations, its main outlet.

Sources close to the production confirmed the cancellation to E! on Thursday.

No official statement has been issued by producers, but without the support of a major TV-station group, the show might as well be airing on local access.

"We haven't renewed the show," a Tribune spokesperson told the Chicago Tribune (part of the same corporate family). "We've told them we're not interested."

Replacing The Sharon Osbourne Show will be an as-yet untitled Larry Elder vehicle.

Critics have suggested that Sharon's in-your-face attitude, foul language and quirky guests just didn't sit well with daytime TV watchers.

The show debuted in September to poor ratings and failed to improve, averaging a mere 1.2 rating for the week ended January 11. By comparison, Ellen DeGeneres' new talk show averaged a 1.9 rating for the same week.

Still in production, the show will end sometime this summer.

Not that the news will come as any great disappointment to Mama Osbourne. She's reportedly been trying to get out of her contract ever since Ozzy's ATV accident in December.

Wish granted, Sharon.

Apparently less obtrusive to the family are the ever-present MTV cameras at Casa Osbourne in Beverly Hills.

A new season of The Osbournes kicked off on the music network Tuesday night.

But, as usual, the show will have to play catch up just to keep up with the family's real-life exploits.

In the premiere episode, Sharon still has a job (though cracks have begun to show) and Ozzy is still a couple of months away from his near-death ATV accident.

According to USA Today, Ozzy's accident will show up in episode five, when the rocker returns to the family's Buckinghamshire estate in England. He and Kelly were in the U.K. to promote their duet "Changes," a track he originally recorded with Black Sabbath.

The Prince of Darkness broke several ribs, fractured his collarbone and suffered a broken vertebra in his neck after wiping out on his all-terrain vehicle. He also underwent emergency surgery to stem bleeding in his lungs and restore blood flow to a major artery.

MTV backed off while Ozzy struggled in ICU. Cameras started rolling again once it was clear he would recover. But doctors have predicted it could take up to six months for Ozzy to make a full recovery, something that will show up in new episodes airing this spring.

Meanwhile, another Osbourne clan member is trying to make her TV mark without the entire family in tow.

Kelly will make her scripted series debut in an upcoming ABC pilot titled Doing It.

Based on Melvin Burgess' teen novel, Doing It is about the sexual exploits of three 16-year-old Seattle boys: Dino, Jonathan and Ben.

The reality star-turned-recording artist will play a love interest for Jonathan.

I never watched it. Did anyone here watch ?

I didn't watch either. I remember when Sharon's show debuted and I distinctly recall some tv news source commenting that she had one of the highest rated new daytime talk shows this season. Either that was relative to the other *crap* or it was a lie.

I remember watching the Cubs game of the day Ozzy sing "take me out to the ball game" and all I heard was the Cubs announcers selling her show.
The Cubs are owned by the Tribune Co.
So take that!!
I'm glad the show bombed.

I understand that was why Jerry Springer failed as well.

Count me as one of the 4. I loved the show

It was FUN, DIFFERENT, and TOTALLY SHARON.

Stupid Ozzy and his accident I knew things would change after that.

Screw Larry Elder and the critics

This is the most tragic part of that news:
Kelly will make her scripted series debut in an upcoming ABC pilot titled Doing It.
Why?!?

Sharon's pretty damn cool from what I've seen on The Osbournes, but I've never watched her talk show. Probably because it was on PAX. I refuse to watch that station unless 'Shop 'Til You Drop' is on.

No.

They stopped her show around 2 or 3 years ago.

damn.

I was gonna say "I wonder how Shar's gonna spin THIS..."

But then I saw
She's reportedly been trying to get out of her contract ever since Ozzy's ATV accident in December.
Oh well. Good riddance.

I hated this show. I watched it one morning about 5:30AM, where it was moved after bad ratings. Really bad, really unfunny, really unentertaining.

Good riddance!

As bad as Sharon was. Did anyone see when Kelly was hosting the show while Sharon was with Ozzy? I believe, if it wasn't already dead by then, THAT is what killed it. She was awful, IS awful and always will be awful. Her new show will bomb as bad as her CD.

In-your-face attitude? Foul language? Maybe on "The Osbournes", but not here. She is a complete kiss-ass with every guest she has. It's a total gush-fest, and it's quite sickening.

Hey, wanna hear some news? ALL talks how hosts kiss ass when guests come on. Just look at Stern. Even his hardcore fans admit he kisses ass.

How many more C-list celebrities will try the talk-show route and fail before they realize that nobody wants to watch C-list celebrities doing talk-shows?

I had no idea a new season of the Osbournes had started on MTV. I loved the first season, but I thought the second season was horrible.

Is anyone watching the new season? I have heard zero buzz about a new season.

Yah, Giantrobo. But, having seen some of the strippers/porn stars err..."guests" that Howard's had on his show, couldja blame him for kissing their asses?

I watched (I should say tried to watch) this a few times. Horrible.

Every guest was introduced as her most favorite person in the whole world because she met them a couple times at cool hollywood parties. Then she groped the female guests. For example, she couldn't keep her hands off Jenny McCarthy's breasts and Jenny looked very uncomfortable during the interview. Then she started swapping OB/GYN stories with Jenny and I changed the channel.

Same sort of thing happened when Jennifer Tilly was on. It was all about Jennifer's breast, then Sharon asked Jennifer to sign her breast so she could go back and show Ozzy and make him jeolous.

And of course, every interview I saw at one point or another had to be steered towards talking about Ozzy or Kelly or Jack. "I understand that you were once sitting two rows behind my daughter Kelly at a fashion show- what was that like?"

This show won't be missed by me.

Ugh, this show was on every day when I went to the gym (around 4 pm or so). So very annoying...

I remember complaining back in the day when 7th Heaven was on during my workout time, but this was even worse. I wonder what crap WGN will stick in its place now.
