I likely know as much as you, but...
All I know is The Kingdom is being used as an "inspiration", a word that scares me. Also the little written previews seem to all mention "dark comedy" in some fashion, which makes me wonder if there will be more emphasis on that vs the mystery/horror aspect. Maybe more details will come out as it gets closer to airing.
Personally it's been awhile since I truely enjoyed a King/ABC mini, but being a Bruce Davison fan, I'll be watching.

You know the first time I heard this project being in the works I thought of Riget. Looks like it's another rip off. blah.
The Kingdom is amazing Denmarks finest.
Well worth a look if you can find it.

Could be interesting. I'm a big fan of The Kingdom (bought overpriced import DVD's of both waaay before HKFlix or whoever it was had them cheap!) I read an article about it a little while ago that gave me some hope for it.
Apparently King was really into the miniseries when he first saw it back in the mid 90's and had been trying to get it wider released in the US and to get rights to it, but never could. After he was hit by a car and started spending a lot of time in hospitals he became obsessed with it. When he got released (and supposedly wasn't writing anymore) he actually pounded out a 15 hour script for it, no deals or anything in place, he had just become that infatuated with it that he had to get the story out. So, it's basically fan fiction. It could be really good fan fiction, but it could also be really bad fan fiction.

Looking at the list of cast members..i notice Ed Begley Jr playing a certain Dr Victor Ehrlich...always wondered what happened to his medical career once St Elsewhere was over

So what's up with the book? Did King write it under a pen-name?

Can't wait. I agree though, King hasn't had a good ABC mini in years.

I have very high expectations for "Salem's Lot," though. (I know it's TNT and not ABC, but it has a strong cast and I very much want a good adaption of that particular novel.)

I personally loved the new version of the Shining over Kubrick's hack job of the book. But that was about 5 years ago I guess.

Good article from the NY Times, here: LINK
It says, among other things, that King wrote himself into the opening sequence and that a guy gets hit by a van in much the same way King himself did.
Also talks pretty extensivley about the von Trier original.

I too may skip this and rent/buy an eventual DVD, assuming the reviews aren't universally negative. I just have too much going on in life right now to sit through a 13-episode limited series. (And, unfortunately, very little free space on the ReplayTV.

Kingdom Hospital 3/3 - premiere
Anyone watching this.
Being from Denmark and a big fan of The Kingdom (Which is from Denmark) I'm kinda watching with a fearful eye.
I usually like King but was surprised to see that he 'sold out' and rebranded someone elses work as his own.. Ok strong words, he can mold it in his own direction of course, but a lot of elements are close so far (and seem off to me, having seen the original).
Anyway, no strong feelings for or against yet.
