there was our holy shit moment. proof that any character can survive in 24 land, remeber last year when Palmer's assistant was thrown from the stairs, she didn't die from that. so that makes me think that tony won't die somehow. it seems like everything in the promos happens in the first 30 minutes.

is the tv-14-v rating more relaxed then say a pg13? since apparenlty in charlies angels full throttle unrated ,there is a shot of a character gushing out blood (like tony did) and that was deemed too violent for a pg13. so can tv get away with more violence then a movie can?

I think they wanted to get Tony out of the way for most of the season, but not for good. This way they can give control of CTU back to Jack in his drug addicted state.

I found the cocaine angle rather predictable. It was way too easy for them to find the virus that soon - not to mention having it blowing airborne in the fan!
But for everything seen coming, there was plenty that was a surprise - Salazar's guard killing the agent for instance. The Palmer storyline is just DRAGGING ... so boring! Where is Sherry!?!?
Did anyone find it odd that Jack and Tony manage to arrive at the shopping mall at the same time when Tony already told Jack that he could get there 10 minutes faster than Jack could? Ah well, a shot to the neck for his time miscalculation.
The mole we're seeing now is probably not the only one. Remember how we thought Jamie was the mole in season 1 and ultimately it was Nina?

You would think it was fast finding it in 3 episodes, but last season they found the bomb after 6 or 7 episodes. Which I thought was early last year.
I'm sure they have something else mapped out entirely. This is just to get the season rolling.

I really liked last night's episode.
One would think, however, that CTU (that's Counter-Terrorism Unit) would be just a bit more careful in scrutinizing their employees, because of what they do and especially after the whole Jamie/Nina thing. But here this guy's in on everything and makes phone calls to the terrorists left and right with no one even noticing, much less questioning.
Also it seemed really out of character for Palmer to agree to the payoff. He's usually very "no compromise/do the right thing no matter what" type of guy. Just seemed odd...

I rank this episode higher than most any last season.

Speculation: I would not be surprised if the mole that everybody's been poo-pooing as a "been there, done that" plot point actually turns out to be something akin to a double mole (if there is such a thing). An insider that Salazar thought he planted in CTU which, in fact, was planted by CTU into Salazar's organization long ago for this very reason. And the reason he's been sneaking around CTU to contact Salazar might be because nobody at CTU (except perhaps Tony and/or Jack) knows about it. Best way to keep your cover is to keep your cover a secret.
But I could be wrong about that, too.

Nah, the ultimate twist would be if he were actually working for Tony, who planted him with Nina's boss, who sent him to Salazar who sent him to CTU, and had to shoot Tony to put Jack (who is the actual big boss, responsible for assassination attempts, nulear threats and viral attacks all to keep his tv contract in place) off track...
But I'm probably wrong.

So did anyone else think of "Run Lola Run" when Kyle called his girlfriend and said he needed $20K for the drug dealers or else? I was half-expecting the techno music to come on and for her to start running across the city to find the money in time.
Also, I have a feeling that Kim (in true Wesley Crusher fashion) will be the first person at CTU to suspect the "mole" and of course, no one else will believe her, because she is Kim.

Good episode, good Holy Shit moment as well. The whole Chase Kim thing is weighing down the show (when hasn't Kim).

And the annoying thing is that he could just announce that her ex-husband is just trying to get a payoff so he won't say that she committed perjury, as soon as his opponent brings it up. It would quickly become a non-issue - he could even have his brother record a phone conversation with the ex-husband for proof.

I think when your dad has saved the country twice in the last 5 years you can request just about anything you want for your family members.
