I couldn't stand Matt. He would have been voted off in the first week if it wasn't for Rob. Jenna was far more deserving than Matt. Rob was the only one more deserving than Jenna (and she knew that which is why should brought Matt with her to the final). It is not all about physical challenges IMO.

All this arguing about Ken and it turns out he's not even on! Apparently neither is Sandra.

SurvivorNews got a tip that the All Star season will begin with 3 groups of 6.

The tribes should look like this:

TRIBE 1:

TRIBE 2:

TRIBE 3:

It appears that Tina is still unconfirmed, but the rest should be about right.

So you put the 2 most interesting/favorite Survivors in the same group? I think that Ruddy and Rupert should be in different tribes, make the tribes all more interesting.

I just mentioned a week or two ago that I thought the 3 tribe thing was cool, and that I was kind of expecting an allstar survivor. Although I think they should have used everyone that did not win.

Those are nutty pairings. Rob and da Robfather together? Could be trouble...

This All-Star edition will premiere after CBS's telecast of the Super Bowl on Feb. 1.

'Survivor' kicks off on Super Bowl Sunday

By Gary Levin, USA TODAY

Get ready for another Super Bowl/Survivor Sunday.

CBS this week will announce plans to premiere the eighth installment of its hit reality series following its Feb. 1 telecast of the Super Bowl, TV's top-rated event.

"It worked like gangbusters when we did it with the second Survivor," says CBS president Leslie Moonves. Survivor: Australian Outback's premiere averaged 45 million viewers and kept eager viewers tuned in to the lopsided game's fourth quarter and post-game show. "Why not continue the streak? This was pretty much a no-brainer."

The latest edition features "all-stars" plucked from the first seven Survivors. It includes 18 contestants, up from the usual 16. The show will air 14 original episodes, up from the usual 13. And while the jackpot remains $1 million, the total prize pool is increased: The first contestant voted out will receive $25,000, a tenfold increase from the first loser's prize in other editions.

CBS and producer Mark Burnett wouldn't discuss the players or location of the all-star edition currently in production, said to be on an island near Panama that's adjacent to the one used in the current Pearl Islands series.

But Survivor Web sites say the list includes previous champs Richard Hatch and Ethan Zohn, along with standouts such as Rudy Bosch, Susan Hawk, Jerri Manthey, Colby Donaldson and Pearl Islands breakout Rupert Boneham.

"We were simply casting for the most memorable characters we could find," says Burnett, though two contestants he hoped to cast declined his offer.

"Because they've all played before, their whole mantra is to expect the unexpected. So their own imaginations are doing them in more than anything I might do."

Several all-stars wore three layers of clothing after seeing party-dressed contestants in the current edition forced to walk the plank and begin the competition much sooner than they'd expected. "What makes Survivor work is keeping people off balance. They literally were on edge for days."

Still, to compensate for their experience "I made it much, much harder," Burnett says, by offering no rations and tougher immunity challenges. "They got kicked in the butt from the very beginning."

Moonves predicts the all-star Survivor will attract more fans than usual "because people have their favorite characters. The downside is we're going to be up against the wind-down of Friends." He's taking no chances: Survivor will wrap a week or so before the Friends finale in mid-May.

Any guesses as to who the two holdouts were? I would guess Brian from Survivor: Thailand, becuase he was a winner and was a big schemer, although he wasn't that interesting personality-wise. In terms of personality, I'd say Colleen from Survivor 1, but they did already have 4 people from that edition. I would've thought Colleen was a more natural choice than Jenna (Survivor 1) though. Also maybe Robb from Thailand... he was goofy yet caused conflicts, perfect to throw in the mix. Or Vecepia maybe because she was a winner (but I'm happy she's not on because I can't stand all that phony preaching).

My guess is either Elizabeth or Kelly from the original. Brian might have been the other one since he dominated that one.

There are three winners (AFAIK) that aren't on the list: Vecepia, Brian, and Jenna. Part of me says that they'd want all the past winners back, but another part of me says that they wouldn't want Vecepia or Jenna back.

As much as I'd want to see Elizabeth back, she didn't really do anything to make me think she played the game well.

I'd love it if Mike from S2 would come back (the guy who burned his hands). I think he would decline though. He could be one of the people they asked who turned them down.

Yeah but the eye candy factor is low for this, which is surprising. I also thought that Jugs I, Jugs II, or Jugs III might get an invite.

It says there are 18 contestants, but the list that we have (that might or might not be accurate) only has 15, so there are three more vacancies.
What list are you referring to? According to the list posted in this thread (a few posts above yours), all 18 are known.

Err duh you're right. I was thinking of the list of 15 that we had earlier. Edited again.

I think this one will be really interesting. I wish that Elizabeth was in it though, and Roger. Yes, I did buy that father daughter thing hook line and sinker.

As long as Lil isn't on there I'm happy.

I thought that I saw it posted here about the spoilers for the series, including the winner. Can someone point me to it? If you don't want to post here, just email me a link. I remember seeing it, just can't remember where! It's driving me crazy...
