I just couldn't belive the guy said that voting off the girls was like kicking one of his buds out of the truck when they're going to the rodeo...

It will be interesting to see how FOX now handles JM2. The ratings suck, but unlike scripted shows, they can't just axe it now that it has started. I wonder if they might bury it in some loser timeslot. Perhaps they may re-edit it to pick up the pace so they can reach the ending more quickly.

A Little Less 'Joe Millionaire' to Love

By Lisa de Moraes
Friday, October 31, 2003; Page C07

Fox has pulled half of "Joe Millionaire" for the duration of the November sweeps.

The second edition of the reality series, this time about a broke Texas cowboy masquerading as a multimillionaire for 16 European women who are vying to become his main squeeze, was scheduled to air on Monday and Tuesday nights during the ratings derby.

But, unlike the first edition of "Joe Millionaire" -- which opened in January with an impressive 18 million viewers and wrapped in the February sweep with a whopping 40 million to become the 2002-03 TV season's most watched entertainment broadcast -- the second edition opened on Oct. 20 with a disappointing 6.7 million viewers. That's its best number in the three episodes aired so far.

This understandably created a big November sweeps headache for Fox, which had thought cowpoke David Smith and his bevy of subtitled beauties would be the crown jewel of its sweeps strategy and so scheduled this edition to air twice each week.

By airing the show only once each week during the sweeps, Fox is cutting its ratings losses. Next Tuesday, Fox will repeat the season debut of Kiefer Sutherland's series "24" for the third time; two repeats of "That '70s Show" will fill in on Nov. 11, and another "That '70s Show" rerun paired with "The Simpsons" will substitute on Nov. 18.

Show is still watchable for me. The hour passes along very quickly.

I agree about Olinda. That's the girl to hate. Leather face gal going on 50. Bad manners and attitude to boot. I was sure she was packing her bags. Oh well.

That snot blonde who didn't turn around should have left with Olinda too.

Mary, the Czech model, is my favorite to win.

As for the loser's reactions to David being poor, we'll get them near the end.

Probably because 25 minutes of it are commercials

Which makes me so happy since I time-shift it and blow through the commercials via my ReplayTV.

My understanding (from speaking with someone in "Programming" at our local Fox affiliate) is that the two hours that would be aired over Monday and Tuesday evenings will be re-edited into ONE hour on Monday. This was done to keep the season end date the same. (remember, a new show is starting when it is done)

So, those of you who love this show SHOULD get a LOT more content on the JM2 DVD release.

Aw man, Linda took herself out of the running because she's mentally not into it, and confessed to be too naive and easily influenced. Whatever...

Now, Alessia, the Italian bartender, also gets kicked to the curb. She was probably too forceful in personality for David.

What was with Olinda's tears for Alessia's goodbye? Drama queen!

That sucked. Linda's gone. I wanted her to go further. Joe apparently was torn about it. Those catty bitches got to her.

I was sad to see Linda go-she was my choice for EuroHottie. Too bad she has some major issues with peer pressure.

I'll also miss the personality of Alessia. She's good people.

He calls the Butler Sir cuz he was brought up that way in Tex-sus and can't stop it now.

Maybe his rich oil dad made him do it when he was a kid.

Really Linda wasn't a much for him anyway personality wise. She was definitely not a farm girl type at all. He was just blinded by her looks. Personally, I like Cat more physically, but personality wise I don't think I would pick any of these girls from what I have seen here. Cat would probably be the best pick out of the bunch though. Olinda is so hideous I can't understand how he wants to keep her since I haven't seen this great personality of hers he seems to keep using as an excuse to keep her there. I think I have a real problem liking shows, but disliking the majority of the people on them.

I don't know but you know how big smoking is in Europe...

Olinda's just obnoxious. I don't see what he sees in her. He would have been better to keep that Italian girl with the big hair.

Too bad Linda couldn't handle competition from other girls. She was the front runner. Even during the scene where Dave Smith was picking the girls to stay, you can see Linda is still unsure if she wanted him to pick her or not.

Looks like we'll be getting 2 episodes a NIGHT from now on:

From thefutoncritic.com:
FOX Axes 'Skin,' Adds 'Millionaire'
By Brian Ford Sullivan

CHICAGO (thefutoncritic.com) -- FOX has canceled its freshman drama "Skin" after just three weeks on the air. The move comes on the heels of the show's disastrous performance last night where it snagged a paltry 1.8 rating/4 share among adults 18-49 and only 4 million viewers overall according to fast national data.

In its place, FOX plans to double-pump episodes of "Joe Millionaire" on Mondays at 8:00/7:00c and 9:00/8:00c starting next week with its two-hour finale now back on for November 24. On Thursdays, FOX will replace its weekly "Skin" replay with encores of "The O.C."

Cat's definitely my favorite now. I think Anique is hotter, but she seems the most shallow. Petra is cute, but hasn't made much of an impact. Giada sems sweet, but her English skills seem to be lacking (although you could say the same about David ) and she's probably the least attractive one left IMO. Kristyna I know nothing about. And Olinda just looks like a prostitute or a run-down stripper. Been around several blocks, that one has.

Olinda probably is a prostitute and a run-down stripper. She is a psycho hose beast, and she has been around the block a few times.

That said, I couldn't watch this train wreck any longer. I felt brain cells dying in droves, and you don't get those back.

You are missing the whole point of the show. It's mindless entertainment. And Olinda was probably included to give some variety to the girls. Just shrug her off like Joe Millionaire is probably doing. He'll make the right decision at the end and pick the right girl.

Since Linda is out of the running, I hope he chooses Cat. It looks like some of the other girls will attack her next.

11/17/03 episodes:

This show is now on life support. Thankfully next week's 2 hour finale will bury it.

After giving the heave-ho to Anique, Cat and Petra were left. Then Linda gets back in the game and the fun starts again until Petra gets sent home and it's down to Cat and Linda.

Who's my pick? For now, I'll go with Linda.

After watching the episodes last night I actually was kind of hoping Petra would win. I know Cat was probably on the defensive after everyone confronting her, but man she looked bitchy from the clips they showed.

Linda is so annoying to me. I was thinking the same thing as Groucho while watching her. Also, I don't find her very appealing physically. What's up with her oblong head? Cat is much hotter.

I can't understand David either. He complains that he doesn't know if they are after him for the money, but all he does is buy them gifts and gifts and gifts. To me it would have been a cool idea if they told the girls the guy is a millionaire, but likes to rough it every now and then. So they have to spend time with him roughing it, doing ranch work, or going to rodeos. Have it be the guy's actual life, but tell them he is rich. So then they all can complain how much they are suffering, and hope that it ends soon and they can live in luxury. Then you pull the rug out, and tell them that's the actual life they would live. Would make it more interesting to me. Of course, that makes for much less glamorous tv.
