His horse has more personality than he does. It's certainly more talkative so far.
I have to say he's very polite. If anything will be his downfall it's his upbringing. He will let the secret slip by calling the chef "sir".
I took an instant dislike to the women because they are so judgemental - typical "can't stand ugly americans" snobs. You could see how horrified they were when they learned he is a "real life cowboy". Hell, most of them claimed that to Europeans, Coyboys are a joke. It was, of course, no surprise that they changed their tune when they found out about the money.
The clash of cultures will be interesting since virtually none of those girls could possibly measure up to his supposed ideals. Most of them fit into his "buckle bunny" category, and I think he's looking for some little slip of a girl who will wear nothing but sun dresses and have his babies.

He had better be looking for someone with a career, since he only brings 11K a year.

Damn you Fox!!!
I've avoided "reality teevee" for as long as I could, but as I was innocently flipping channels after I got bored with the Raiders/Chiefs game, I stumbled onto this abortion of a show... and I was hooked.
This is very much the train wreck that you cannot look away from - watching these Euro-trash broads (I grew up in London and occasionally go to Europe to visit - and these chicks are the real deal - self-centered, dumb and blunt as a hammer) get their egos handed to them will be worth the pain. European women (generally speaking) tend to say what's on their minds much more than American women do and therein lies half the fun.
But what interests me is not what will happen (which is painfully obvious), but observing these people's behavior amongst each other, who appear to be the same, yet quite different.
It'll be a comedy of manners, not unlike an Altman movie.
Oh, and again: Damn you FOX for making this and revealing my base instinct to watch this crap!!!

Looks like I'll just be posting this one message in here and then not coming in to read again since there are some spoilers here that I didn't/don't want to know about.
David Smith (Joe) seems really polite and humble. He also seems like he would be greatly benefitted by a decent education.
I can't believe some of you think that most of the girls are attractive. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I guess. Personally, I thought most of the girls were unattractive. I remember thinking that Lina was attractive, though. Knowing how to speak English was surely a prerequisite to getting on the show, so I guess the producers were limited in who they could get for the show. Surely, though, there must be better looking English speaking European women.
It's funny to see how Europeans view the US, and more specifically, Texas. It's obvious this group of women is a bunch of gold diggers since they were aghast at the thought of dating a cowboy....until they heard he was worth $80 million.

The only one who seemed genuine was a little curly-haired chick. Can't remember who she was or where she's from, but she was the one talking about all her loser broke artist boyfriends and how she loved them all. Of all the girls, she was the most genuine and the least reprehensible.
I'm really not liking most of them.

This is not good news for Fox. From Yahoo:
Minus Bush, not to mention Evan Marriott, Fox's The Next Joe Millionaire looked like a cheap suit. The reality show, now starring Texas ranch hand David Smith and a bevy of gullible international bachelorettes, premiered Monday night before just 6.8 million, more than 33 million viewers off from Marriott's Joe Millionaire finale, overnight estimates said.
The numbers, to be reflected in next week's Nielsen rankings, were so bad a Fox exec allowed that the network was "disappointed," not to mention stunned. "I wish I knew what happened last night," Fox entertainment president Gail Berman said, according to the Associated Press.

Well, perhaps it's because there's been nothing else on Fox, aside from baseball/football, to watch for the past 6 months. So you're automatically down in women's viewership right off the bat, a huge demo in the reality show field. Plus you've lost all the male viewers that don't care about sports - another decent percentage.
The first Joe launched a little further into the season (I remember promos during The Simpsons), so commercials ran during a more balanced schedule. The previous one was unique so it had that going for it as well.
Fox shouldn't have been 'stunned' that the numbers were down.

It must be tough to get girls on a show who actually think that a good looking guy who is supposed to be worth 80 million dollars would need help finding a girl anyway.

This guy is so over his head. I don't think he could handle the type of American women who would go on a show like this, but European women? This guy is going to be drowning. These gals are mostly typical Eurobrats, something he knows about as much as he knows about... well... anything.

Joe made the correct choice for the 3 women he didn't pick. I could have eliminated all but a handful of them. Too many of them had heavy tans, blonde hair, and too much makeup. Especially the Swedes.
Of all the women, Joe should keep the Czech model for the end. Pretty & nice.

I still like Linda, Karolina, Tereza, and Cat. The Italian women scare me. Lina needs to go. Olinda has to be faking her giddy school girl act.
David is so in over his head.
Loved the "ding" whenever they cut to Paul when David would slip in some of his newly gained knowledge of European capitals and wooden shoes in the Netherlands.
