When Trip & Travis landed the Millennium Falcon on that asteroid, they surprised me by not going into a cave.
Add this to the security guy that lived and the surprise ending and I have to admit that this episode sucked less than others this season.
This season's spelunking factor: 2/5 or 40%

Is Vulcan physiology so different

Well, considering their blood is based on a TOTALLY different element than humans, I'd say that would make it a big YES.
When Trip & Travis landed the Millennium Falcon on that asteroid

*sigh* Yes, because everyone knows that George Lucas invented the idea of an asteroid field. Guess we should tell Larry Niven to take all the asteroid belt/belter references out of his books too.... and tell Atari their old arcade game is OBVIOUSLY a rip off of ESB.
Sorry... I know that came off rather bitchy. No offense to anyone is really intended ... honest. It's just that I'm SO tired of people seeing something in ANY show that is even MENTIONED in a Star Wars movie, and then indicating that it is therefore a rip-off of Star Wars.
Now, as to the episode at hand, I rather liked it. They managed to keep the tension level up, and there were some great new FX shots... loved the long-range shot of Enterprise arriving at the asteroid field. Not to mention the two large asteroids slamming into each other. Quite cool.
...and a MACO (read: security guy A) went on a mission and DIDN'T get killed. Amazing.
Personally ... I was glad they came up with a way to negate using the Trellium-D on their hull. I mean, getting rid of the weirdness and anomolies would sort of defeat the whole idea of the "Expanse", would it not? (Whether you consider the anomolies silly or not...)
Anywho, I mostly enjoyed it. And if Phlox talked through a movie with ME in the room, I'd flatten him in about 10 seconds.

CanadianKnight, you seem to forget that Vulcan and human physiology are similar enough to produce offspring.
And that the cave reference is a running joke that has been going on since the beginning of the series.
And besides, anybody who didn’t se a similarity between the asteroid scenes and another very famous creation has been living in a…
…umm, nope. Not gonna do it.
You didn’t bring any beer to the party.

Sorry, I just disagree Wizdar. How is landing on the SURFACE of an asteroid in any way similar to flying INTO an asteroid that contains a giant slug?
Now, if the gallent NX-01 crew had flown into the gullet of some giant critter livin' in or near an asteroid field, fine. But beyond that, I don't see the similarity. Or more appropriatly, I don't AGREE with it.

Asteroid fields have been used in sci-fi for a very long time. Why does their mere mention now bring up visions of ESB or TPM? Just a pet peeve of mine...

Actually the one thing that really bugged me? Why weren't all the Vulcans (including T'Pol) displaying that great Vulcanoid strength? (Side note: I still giggle at Kirk making his log entry about pissing off Spock... "Aroused, his great physical strength could kill...")
And no one told me to bring beer....

OK, it wasn't a cave, but the corridors on the Vulcan ship were still pretty close to being cave-like! I say it counts as a cave episode.
