When Laurie was opening the can to reveal her paint color, my wife said, "It's going to be yellow; she ALWAYS does yellow." Oh look, it's yellow. The homeowners say it's yellow; Paige says it's yellow. Laurie: "It's not yellow!"

Ironically, I spent the day with the Trading Spaces crew: Paige, Ty, Hildi, and Kia. For anyone wondering, yes, Paige is better looking in person than on the show, and yes, I drooled on her shirt when she wasn't looking. And for the ladies (and gay men), I guess you could say it was impressive when Ty ripped off his shirt too.

I wish. Actually, I don't. Honestly, I'd feel sorry for anyone who tried. My home is an intricate array of technology with everything positioned precisely at the point of maximum television viewage at all locations. Move one thing and it all crumbles to the ground. My place would make Laurie cry. Maybe my bedroom could use some work, but then I'd have to find some sucker willing to let me destroy their place, and that's not likely.

Nah, they were down the street ruining someone else's home. The reveal is tonight, but I have a softball double-header in a few minutes, so I had to leave before they filmed the reactions. They're supposed to be in the area again for the next 3 days, but I don't know the location.

• Quoth Brak55 •
It was in Wednesday's Daily Variety that this episode beat all of the networks except Fox (baseball) in 18 to 49.

Wow. I was actually shocked to come into work and find that half the office had watched it. Most of these guys don't watch anything, but they were all over this.

I personally think the show is on too much. 2 new episodes a week, I can barely keep up. Plus, has anyone tried watching the lame "Trading Spaces: Family"? I can't figure out why that show bores me to tears. It's the exact same format, just a few extra homeowners (kids) doing the work. Same designers. Only the host and carpenter is different. I guess Paige and Ty/Amy Wynn bring a lot to the show.
Lately I have been Tivoing TS: Family and just FF to the end to see the reveals.
I am starting to get a little bored with the original TS also. I think the 100 grand episode was fun to watch because it was finally different for a change.
Even on the original BBC show, Changing Rooms, they would mix it up more. The usual budget was 500 pounds but they would occasionally increase it to 750 or 1000 for certain occasions. Also, Changing Rooms does things like churches, and navy boats and different places besides houses which is a fun change. Or the time when the host and carpenter did the designing for an episode. Trading Spaces needs to do more little changes like this in order to keep it interesting.

I agree. There's definitely oversaturation of the concept. Classic American television: take something great from the Brits and then beat it to death. I heard a radio ad the other day for yet another knock-off of the concept. Don't get me wrong: I enjoy Trading Spaces, but there's only so much of one thing that we can take.

Vive la difference.
Oh, the difference that a little difference can make is quite a bit different, indeed.
See, I look at it like this: the whole Andy Hardy, "let's put on a show, kids. Gosh, ain't it great!" spirit that Paige brings to TS proper is not properly conveyed by Joe Lamefarrell. He tries to be peppy, and upbeat, and charismatic, and interesting, and funny, and [shudder] cute, but just like Sisyphus and that damnable stone (or Laurel and Hardy and that damnable piano), he just can't quite get there.
I did notice, and I'm sure this is just a huge coincidence, that the host's last name (Farrell) just HAPPENS TO BE(!)the last name of ONE OF THE PRODUCERS. A shocking coincidence, I'm sure, one that's on par with the present occupant of the White House sharing the same last name as a former occupant.
But really, I can summarize for you quite succinctly why TS Family fails to be compelling:
Trading Spaces Family host = LAME.
Whinny, unattractive teenage kids whining unattractively = LAME.
For more proof of the latter, see MTV just about any time of the day.

Crikey, I have not watched this show in a while, and I know why now, too loud people. Paige needs to take it down about 10 notches on the decibel level.
The crazy redhead place was too cluttered, there was far too much extraneous stuff.
I loved Doug's Kitchen, loved the floor the cabinets, the appliances.
Amy's table was sweet.
Ty's entertainment console was excellent, although I would have left out the cd part of it. as it would look crap if you had loads of cds.
I also could not see where they hid the rear speakers...
Fun show but I find it much easier to watch Changing Rooms, there is less enthusiasm.
Also there were too many 'bits' in the show, the stolen marble, the limo etc....
I would rather see more emphasis on the rooms being transformed and less on the interaction between Paige and the others.
