Cause of death: A terrorist from a continuing story line was after NCIS team leader Leroy Gibbs (Mark Harmon); Kate took the bullet — causing tremendous emotional pain for Gibbs and creating new dramatic opportunities for next season.
Why? Creator Donald Bellisario says that Alexander asked out of the physically demanding show, that she decided she didn't want to stay for what will likely be a run of many seasons. "She worked like a trouper to the very end," says Bellisario, who is casting for a foreign-born female character.

Damn, that is going to screw up the casts chemistry - they all meshed perfectly together, particularly the three leads. I'm going to miss Sasha and Weatherly's weekly give-and-take.

Hmmm, "foreign-born female character?" How bout Behrooz' mom from 24... Add some hardnosed maternal control to the bunch and spar w Harmon's character.
Otherwise, I can see us getting Kelly Hu for the Nth time.

I think my wife and I both did the "OOOOHHHH SSSHHIIIIITTT" at the same time. My wife hadn't seen any of the promos but after Kate took the bullet while wearing a vest and after DiNozzo
, I figured it was just another advertising ploy to garner viewers. Wow, was I wrong.

I thought the promos were an advertising ploy until Abby talked about her dream, and I figured Kate was doomed. Even after the vest thing, Abby's dream comment made me figure a second shot was coming. But even expecting it, it was a little shocking for some reason. If that makes any sense at all.

It was just plain COLD!! Shot between the eyes!! I LOVED it!! I was shocked and dismayed but loved it. I wish more shows would have the balls to kill off main charactors like that!

I was stunned as well, I don't watch the show that often, but I always enjoy it when I do. When I saw the promo that one of the main characters was going to get killed off, I thought it would be either David McCallum or Mark Harmon, because those would be the most likely to have another job lined up. After Kate took the first dive and bullet and got up, I assumed they were going to go downstairs and find Probie dead, I totally didn't see that coming. That was really cool. I'm going to have to watch this more often, it's way better than most of the crap I watch.

This makes me very sad. I loved Michael Weatherly's chemistry with her, not to mention she's hot. That was just mean. Shower scene last week, then bam. Right between the eyes. They better get somebody good to replace her.

As many other's have said, this sucks. The thing I liked most about this show is everyone's chemistry, and now with Sasha gone, I can only hope that her replacement can fill her shoes.

I did not see any promos on TV before watching this and was completly shocked.
My husband who does not watch it evey week with me kept backing it up on TIVO and watching it over and over. I finally had to take the remote away from him.

I read it was going to be a lady with more of an international flavor, and not all that uptight about her sexuality. IOW, she'll eat Tony alive, and he'll be smiling all the way through the experience.

Wow, I would have thought someone would have posted this by now. I read about the replacement a few weeks ago. Doesn't look like an upgrade to Kate. I love the show too much to say I'd drop it, but I remember this woman from Chicago Hope and... Well, I'm not anxiously awaiting the season premiere.
