On a sort of related note. I just watched the 2 hour Mark Harmon USA movie "Certain Prey" and it was terrible. I have a feeling they might do a sequel, but they need to hire a better writer. Harmon was essentially playing a better dressed Gibbs.

they had me going at first with the casket in the plane, but then I figured there had to be a twist and it wouldn't be the daughter

Anyone catch this episode? The gunfight at the end while Gibbs was delivering the baby was a very impressive scene!

I'm shocked Ziva didn't get any hits and had to go hand to hand

I'm surprised neither did. Two opponents standing in the open at close range firing modern weapons. WTF? Remarkably bad shooting, theatrically bad.

I always figured Ziva as one shot, one kill kind of girl. Now she owes Accounting 0 shots, 50 kills approximately.

I'm putting down that they were shooting in near darkness so the target was hard to see. Sure the scene was lit but that was for our benefit.

I thought it was totally theatrical too. You really can't hit anything firing two guns at once. It looks cool on film, but you're actually just wasting ammo. No "professional" would have done that in that situation.

Jeeden 12-16-11 09:51 AM

Re: NCIS--"Newborn King"--12/13/11

Well, depends on your objective. She would have been happy to kill the guy, but I would say her main objective was to lay down a cover fire for both herself and Gibbs. She needed to make sure that not only she was protected, but that the guy didn't get near Gibbs and the girl in the car. Additionally, they are in a very confined space and in a bit of a stale mate with each other so the only play is to keep bringing everything you got to the guy because once you stop or hesitate to aim, find cover, apply a tactic, the stale mate is broken and your done.

Re: NCIS -- 200th Episode -- "Life Before His Eyes" -- 2/07/12

I know NCIS doesn't get talked about in this forum because it's a crime procedural, but this was a great episode. Probably one of the best of the series. It took a different approach than the usual crime of the week formula.

It was cool to see Gibbs reflect on his life, his work for NCIS and his family. This episode was a great gift to the fans who have watched all these years. Mike Franks was a good guide.

IMO, this episode was have been better served airing during the Holidays. It had that type of theme.

Good stuff, I know there is a few NCIS fans here, you should definitely watch this soon.

I agree it was an excellent episode. I was kinda suprised at the end he didn't try help that kid's dad. I thought one of the points of the episode was that good people sometimes do the wrong thing.

My wife and I have been trying to catch up on this show the last year or so, and the only thing we didn't know was what happened to Gibb's mom. Anyone know the answer?

Re: NCIS -- 200th Episode -- "Life Before His Eyes" -- 2/07/12

I don't remember hearing about it in any of the seasons, but I got the impression from his discussion in this episode that she had cancer or something, it was hard on his father watching her die ("he shouldn't have had to change the sheets on the bed of his own wife"), was hard on him raising Gibbs ("it wasn't his fault I left, be easy on him"), etc.

I re-watched this episode last night and they did some really creative tinkering with past episodes to get old cast members in.

Did anyone notice Lauren Holly was sitting in the diner dream sequence?

Also, I liked how they changed around the scene from season 2 where Kate got killed and Gibbs stopped Ari from killing her. That was pretty creative how they manipulated an older scene with Sasha Alexander to get her in the hospital sequence with Tony.

Great finale.

Spoiler:
The actor playing Ducky is re-signed for next year, so he's not dying. My wife told me that Dinozo, McGee and Abby haven't re-signed for next year yet, so not sure what that means.

Well,
Spoiler:
it was a "sign or die" ending. It puts management in a strong negotiating condition.
