Except that that's probably why he created the rule. Or was it one of Franks's rules?

I agree that Gibbs was being uncharacteristically jerky, but it's probably because Vance has been antagonizing him lately.

Tonight's episode was pretty good and the B Team (or whatever they're setting up) is an interesting mix. Kind of like the Hulk-like dude and good to see Alimi Ballard from Numb3rs get another gig even if it might be short lived.

Liked this weeks episode. The flashback to early Dinozzo and Gibbs was nice. And good to see the ol' reliable Gibbs back.

so, who is Tony going to be handling?

Re: NCIS -- Season Finale -- "Pyramid" -- 5/17/11

I just watched the previous ep and the finale.

I'm not a big fan of the NCIS (the agency) as CIA stuff they pull especially when it involves politics, secret programs, etc. So I wasn't too happy with the turn the P2P case took. Beside the whole "You were training military men to be killers!" outrage would have been weak as it was, but after a couple of weeks of the Navy Seals being celebrated for taking out OBL it's just comical.

While some of it was good, the actual ending of the P2P killer was very disappointing. For someone who was always a dozen steps ahead he appeared to have not just no plan, but no point to bringing the Secretary to the building. A building that seemed remarkably cop free considering it was recently the scene of an agent murder, shooting and kidnapping and maybe even the P2P killer's operating base. Of course, looking back I have re-evaluate his planning skills anew, considering part of his plan was to turn himself in and then escape from custody and kidnap the Sec's daughter (again) from inside the NCIS building on a navy base while everyone was "distracted" looking for Ziva.

Looking ahead, I am curious what Barret pulled out of the dead man's wrist. And I like the hint that the Israelis might be back in the picture. I know I said I don't like NCIS as CIA, but the show has a good track record with Israeli stories. I'm kind of meh on Tony's setup scene. One season's worth was enough of very special double secret probation agent Tony.

Premieres tonight and will probably dominate in the ratings again.

I love this show, but it isn't realistic it to 24 threads for this with so many other CBS procedurals, so here's the one and only thread.

Not my favorite season premiere. I actually thought it was a little boring in some parts. So we got to see how Tony spent his summer being the Sec Navs bitch.

:( Poor E.J.

I'm not really a fan of flashback storytelling, but I did think it was interesting how they created months of backstory about Tony's work for the Sec Nav that coincided with the TV offseason.

The end reveal with Scott Wolf being the shooter was kind of cool. I guess they will re-visit this storyline later in the season.

It was okay. I generally feel this show operates better in its own skin (episodic storytelling) than trying to be like the "hip" shows.

Playing a slimeball seems to be Scott Wolf's calling. It works such much better for him than earnest good guy.

Yeah this show has done some good multi-episode arcs in the past, but it's strongest points are the cases of the week and the humor in them.

This arc was not my favorite.

Re: NCIS -- The 9th Season Thread & Still Most Watched Procedural -- Premieres 9/20/1

Agree, this episode wasn't very strong. I think it may have been just poorly executed because I never really bought into the "who did Tony shoot?" anxiety they were going for, and without that the episode didn't work very well.

When they did the photo scene with Tony at the end of last season I thought we would have another "undercover Tony" season, were we knew Tony was investigating something/someone, but didn't know which NCIS member it was.

Glad it wasn't just me. I found the episode tedious and had a hard time paying attention to it.

I'm glad they didn't. I agree that this episode didn't seem to have the NCIS mojo I'm used to.

Another thing that bothered was the last shot of the two heavies in their control room. Too James Bond-ey for me.

I noticed that too, I think it was.

They were doing a lot of product placement it seemed. The thumb drive that they stuck into the computer to look at the financial records....etc

BTW, I'm surprised they made that error, most of the time, NCIS is pretty close to the real thing on locations, technology, etc. NMCI computers aren't permitted to have thumb drives plugged into them.

I thought last night's episode was really good, but this show has a few little quirks that really annoy me now. Like during every autopsy, Gibbs walks in, Ducky starts talking til Palmer interupts him with some innapropiate comment, then sheepishly apologizes. That said, I love the episodes with Fornell and this was no exception.

Re: NCIS -- The 9th Season Thread & Still Most Watched Procedural -- Premieres 9/20/1

I like the show a lot too, but they are REALLY sticking the formula each time like you said. You can almost predict what is going to be said by the characters at some points.

I think some of it is tongue in cheek, but geez. I bet the outtakes are pretty awesome though. How does he walk into the office with coffee anymore and say "gear up" without any of the actors just bursting out laughing.

Synopsis:

Spoiler:
Part 1 of 2. The crash of a plane carrying the caskets of deceased soldiers is investigated when a discrepancy is found in the DNA testing of the remains.

I have an NCIS season thread floating around, but I figure a 2-part episode is worthwhile to start a thread and this looks like a solid episode.

My guess is Gibbs and team will go to Iraq, locate Flores, kill some insurgents and reunite Flores with her father. Any bets?

they'll save the kids too

and see that's the great thing with this episode. It's obvious Gibbs will save the day, but yet I still can't wait for the second part

Awesome episode of NCIS. Probably one of the best this season so far and I loved the cliffhanger.

Looking forward to Part 2 next week.

That seems about right, although it looked like it was just going to be Gibbs going. The rest of the team will probably find an accomplice state-side.
