I liked this episode quite a bit. Nice way to end the season. This show, in my mind, had a fairly solid first season. It's predictable, fluffy, and incredibly enjoyable.

Can't wait to return to Vegas next year.

I really liked this episode. Not so much because it was great TV, but moreso because of all the things that are going on in the world and how it could be anybody that gets called back to serve. I would assume from Ed's reaction, it was the middle east somewhere.

Great episode and a fitting season finale. I like many of you hope they aren't writing Danny out. I was also glad to see him with Mary, and I liked what Mike said when he came to pick him up "Where else would you be?". Very classy. I also loved the CCR song.

They won't write Danny out of the show - he's the central character. This just further defines who that character is.

Danny will come back in the fall, perhaps he get hurt (but Danny got hurt during this season, so what else is new) and gets discharged, he'll be a harder-edged guy, will work to regain his civilian composure again (Post-traumatic-Stress/etc).

Great finale. Great cleavage from Mary the whole episode.

I agree about this show being full of fluff and eye candy, but in a way, that's what it set out to do. I recently read an article about this show in EW and the goal was to have every episode be about something different - and for the most part, they were. Also, the producers are aware that its credibility took a hit mid-season with some of the far-fetched plotlines and they promised better stories in its sophomore season.

I missed some of the show last night. Does anyone know how much time Danny had before he left and if he had his affairs in order?

I really enjoyed the episode as well. I wonder if Danny and Mary are going to be a couple. If I recall correctly, didn't two of them do it the night before he shipped out last time as well? I think that Mary mentioned that in one of the episodes.

It has never been said that Mary was molested, but it has been very strongly hinted at. This episode pretty much confirmed it.

Great episode, but was I the only lawyer who thought the "mobster owns the Montecito" plotline was radiculous? Two words, guys -- adverse possession. The Montecito needs to fire its lawyers and hire ones who know what they're doing.

The only show where I have found the law somewhat realistically (and consistently) portrayed is Law & Order. I generally ignore legal inaccuracies in the rest, particularly in a show like Las Vegas.

Besides, do you think a carbon blob knows what adverse possession is. Heck, even I have forgotten the specific rules for it. I think I knew the rules on AP twice - in December 1996 when I took Property I and in July 1999 when I took the bar exam.

I figure Joe Sixpack may not understand adverse possession (I've forgotten the rules, too, but I know it involves continuous, open, and notorious use of the land -- I think there may be one or two other rules, too), but Joe Sixpack probably understands "statute of limitations," and it's the same basic concept. Just have the lawyers say "We can get this thing thrown out -- he waited too long to sue us," have Ed say "Gee, couldn't we do something for him anyway," and have the episode continue as it was.

Anyway, you're right that I don't expect legal realism from any show but L&O (and I have no crim law experience, so maybe I'd get mad at that show too if I were educated on crim law), but legal plotlines that bear no resemblance to real law are a pet peeve of mine.

Adverse possession also includes little rules like 20 year inhabitance and paying of all property taxes.

Ladies take note: That's how to answer the door!

The only way they are writing Danny off is if he was leaving the show to do something else. I'm sure someone here would've heard about it if that were the case.

I agree that he'll probably get hurt and get a ticket home. I'm hoping for some war scenes first though. That could make for a big season premiere, and it's not like they don't have the budget for it.

I'm not a lawyer and I thought it was stupid, though I liked the main idea of the old-time mobster claiming that it was his. They could've just gone a different direction in the end. Even if it was just as simple as Ed paying him off under the table to drop the case because he felt sorry for him.

Not reallly a big deal in the context of that episode though. I think it was just in there to keep it from being too dramatic between Mary's father showing up and Danny shipping out.

As this is a matter of state law, the specifics vary from state to state. In general terms, adverse possesion requires open, adverse, exclusive, continuous, and notorious possession of the property for the statutory period. Some states have added other requirements such as requiring the adverse possessor have color of title, improved/enclosed the land, and paid all property taxes.

As far as the issue in this episode, the lack of realism on the law bothered me some also. As best I can determine, Nevada only has a 5 year statutory period for AP, requires improvement/enclosure of the land, and requires payment of property taxes. The Montecito presumably met these requirements easily and had acquired the property in question by adverse possession. There was no need to pay the guy off.

DISCLAIMER: None of the above should be construed as legal advice in any way.

Been thinking about it and I think will use one of these for the Danny storyline next yeart.

1) Reported KIA but is not

2) Captured

3) Returns distant and violent because of something that he saw/happened to him.

great episode very moving

Ed was bad ar*se taking out the counterfeit crook, so was Danny

I really wanted to see Danny cripple Mary's father

Only critiscm was not enough Sam

Few nice subplots

Overall a very decent season, had a bit of a bad patch where episodes got a bit boring but got back on track for the run home

i agree that Danny's deployment will make for some good storylines next season

What was the name of the song at the end? Sounded like REM, but what song? Thanks.
