My guess is that a head valet in Vegas (at a major casino) makes some serious cash. They've had previous episodes where he displayed computer expertise.

Mike's got a Mechanical Engineering degree, and he makes more parking cars than he would being employed as a ME. Danny's already made use of Mike's technical background in previous episodes as well.

I'm glad to see that they are sticking w/ Danny and the crutches, instead of ignoring the fact that he was shot in the foot not too long ago. Most shows would have sped up the healiing process instead of having their star gimp around on crutches.
Josh Duhamel really hurt himself so Danny getting shot was a way to explain why he'd be walking around with crutches.

I liked the episode though the mask and then the facial recognition software was a giveway what was going to happen.

Well, that's a good reason to shoot him in the foot then. :D

The heist plot was obvious, but it was still good, imo.

And it's most likely true.

Last time in Vegas we met up with my friend's frat brother who graduated with an accounting degree, spoke four languages (Japanese, spanish, english, french), and was working as a bellhop at the Ventian. He made most of his money in tips, and he said he reported about 1/2 of it. On the books he said he made about $65K the year before, but I'm not sure what his complete total was.

This was probably one of my favorite episodes except for Danny stealing my girlfriend. :)

Oh, and yes it was obvious he was the crook, but it's still fun to watch. Besides the only way they would have a surprise ending in this show is if someone actually succeeded in ripping off Ed.

That's what I was thinking. I hope he got a pay raise for all the work he does around there. Maybe he's just an "undercover" valet.

Danny is a lucky bastard ineed!

movieking 01-13-04 03:57 PM

Lucky Bastard indeed. Loved seeing Brooks and Dunn as well.

Neither I nor my fiance listen to country music, so throughout the entire episode, we kept wondering who the cowboys were. Heh heh.

It won't. See Red Dog's post above.

I'll just ask again...

Nikki Cox was an escort in the Pilot Ep., no?

And she got the instant promotion to "Entertainment Coordinator" or whatever by the next episode, without anything on screen being said about it and her former job, right?

In other words, I didn't miss anything, and it seems they decided they could use her more if she wasn't a hooker, and just changed her character from what it was in the Pilot. Or did I?

I think the confusion is that her character was originally written as an escort. In the pilot episode, Danny clearly states in a narration that she is not an escort. Now maybe they shot the pilot episode with the suggestion that she is a hooker and added the narration in after the fact.

But there is that whole scene in the pilot where she mentions the "hookers at the end of the bar" (who then wave at Danny). But then this old guy walks up and she mentions that he is her next appointment or something to that affect.

My interpretation of his voiceover was that she wasn't like "those other girls. Instead he was distinguishing Mary (who he feels a friendly fondness for) from your basic "hooker" who trolls for customers, and that Mary was perhaps a more exclusive provider of sorts, working occasionally or actually JUST escorted the guys (for dinner, companionship, and the like, not the more sordid and illegal in Vegas behind-closed-doors activity).

Las Vegas OFFICIALLY jumps the shark next week.

http://nbc.com/photos/Primetime/Las_Vegas/2LSVbl03.jpg

Not that this is one of the most intellectually stimulating shows on TV, but it has been entertaining fluff. However, I cannot stomach the influx of "celebrities" like good 'ol raccoon eyes on the right "guest starring" on TV shows [Clay Aiken will be on Ed this Friday too -rolleyes-]. Hell, i'd rather listen to Jean-Claude Van Damme [another guest star on this ep] read Shakespeare.

I'll be skipping this one.

[Unless my girlfriend makes me watch...she's got a thing for Josh]

Vegas9203 01-20-04 11:15 AM

Seems like her face can only do that one expression...ugh...I detest her.

I wouldn't be surprised if they sucked in "Britney" when she does her show there on a couple weeks. Maybe they will put it in the can and hold it for "A very special episode..." during May Sweeps.

JasonF 01-20-04 11:29 AM

Dude, this show started out 50 feet beyond the shark, and has only been moving further away as the show goes on. Don't get me wrong -- I love it, and wouldn't miss an episode -- but it's the dictionary definition of guilty pleasure.

Mopower 01-20-04 11:38 AM

Is it just me or does Paris Hilton always look like a freakshow maniquen?

Rogue588 01-20-04 11:49 AM

I'd watch this show if it was scrambled and in Spanish. It's better than 99.9% of the crap out there, regardless of who guests.

What? You mean surveillance cameras CAN'T zoom in to see a perfectly sharp 10 foot image of a pill falling into a glass or what someone is seeing inside their sunglasses??? -eek-

By definition, the city of Las Vegas itself has jumped the shark, so any show covering it would be expected to be "out there".
