The Man Show (08/17)

So what did you think?

Certainly not as good as Adam and Jimmy, but it's early. There's room to grow. Doug Stanhope seems like a funny guy, but Joe Rogan always comes off as a tool.

The AMP skit was hilarious, the "Guess Who's Butt-Crack" was lame, but that was something I could have seen Adam and Jimmy do and it would have been just as lame.

I thought the rant at the beginning regarding prostitution was right on. Although I'm sure you would disagree, being in law enforcement and all. The prostitution laws in this country are almost as ridiculous as the drug laws. Anyway...

Can't really remember anything else about this episode, so it must not have been too memorable. I did miss "The Man Show Toast".

Ziggy-Zoggy.

Not good at all. It wasn't the presentation so much as the writing. Also, when did Joe Rogan get so huge?

I also miss Rachel and the twins.

Overall it was......not very good

The porn investment bit was pretty good. The Ass Crack Game Show was lame. The prostitution rant was okay, not great though. The Asian Massuese bit was pretty lame.

Well I'm hoping it will get better. Just a matter of them finding what works and what doesn't. At least that's what I'm hoping what it is.

"Also, when did Joe Rogan get so huge?"

Popularity or strength?

It was sub-par, and unless something else is on at 10 on Sunday night, I'll probably keep watching it, sadly.

Size - I remember seeing him on Howard Stern when they did one of their trips to Vegas and he did not look nearly that big.

Yeah Joe looked like he's gained some weight. His face seemed a lot rounder that I remember last.

The show wasn't awful, there is hope for it.They seemed like they were trying to push the edge a little more than Adam and Jimmy. I think the prostitution bit was a little farther than the typical Man Show, though I never have watched the show on a regular basis.

Wow, I'm listening to an episode of Loveline right now and Adam is saying he turned down 50 grand an episode to continue doing the Man Show

That's not that much in the grand scheme of things for TV. Most network actors make much, much more than that. Sure, it's cable, but the Man Show draws the demographic that TV Execs drool over.

Well in the context of what he was saying it must've been quite a bit more than what he was getting. He said they begged and begged for him to come back. For the record Kathy Griffin was shocked he turned it down.

Totally agree. To me, the beauty of the Man Show & what made it work so well, is that it was just this wonderful TV show world of how Adam Carolla & Kimmel really are. This new season everything just felt so forced. Rogan was just reading off of a cue card with no enthusiasm. It doesn't look like he could ad-lib if his life depended on it which is what Carolla did so well. And the other guy is just sooooo boring. And I miss the twins, they were my favorite juggies.

I'd like to see Kathy Griffin shocked with a pair of jumper cables hooked up to a giant battery.

Is it just me or did every joke/line Doug tell involve paying for sex?

Not saying I disagree, but remember it was just the first episode; they may get better.

But like a previous poster said, there isn't much else on at 10 PM sunday night, so i expect I'll keeping watching.

I'm a little surprised that the new season is starting now. The NFL starts up in 3 weeks and considering that the Man Show and the NFL have common viewership, I could see the ratings of The Man Show plummeting when Sun Night Football starts up.

I can fogive some lame skits and hope they get better, but what really turned me off from the show was at the end...no Ziggy-Zoggy. What's up with that? That was clearly a honor to the Fox. Bastards probably tore his picture down off the wall too. If they can't honor the previous incarnation of the show, how can they expect us to give a rat's crack, especially when they are lagging behind in the quality department?

No, you are right. There is a lot to that. When the orignial series debut, I remember not liking it that much & having almost the exact same complaints. But it was all Carola for me, I don't think I'll be able to get into the show without him.

My feelings, your feelings or anyone else's feelings on prostitution had nothing to do with this thread. The discussion was abou the TV and that only. Of course I disagree with you. I think the world would stop spinning if we both agreed on something.

So my original post made two points. I predicted that you would disagree with the prostitution discussion that was very much a part of the show, and offered my opinion on that subject, very much ON topic. How is that a thread crap again? Or do you just want it to be?

Who cares what you think about prostitution? We weren't having a debate on whether prostitution is good or not. We were discussing the show, sure it was a small segment of the show, but you took it further by singling me out. You made a comment directed at me, as well as taking a jab at me due to my law enforcement background. I have no problem discussing it with you in a thread dedicated about prostitution, but not in this thread.

Adam and Jimmy had an everyman quality that made them fun to watch, and were terrific at self-deprecating humor.

The immediate impression I got from Doug is that he's an a-hole, and Joe seems a bit stiff.

What was the deal with the rant at the start of the show? I thought I was watching Dennis Miller Live.
