That was my favorite show growing up. I would spend hours drawing huge space ships with hundreds of guns inspired by Star Blazers.

People may argue back and forth about changes, cuts, and edits that were made to anime shows when shown in the states. However, I do think people did a bang up job making the new theme songs. I point to Starblazers, Robotech, and Battle of the Planets as American versions with openings that were rousing and fun.

Does anybody remember a show that took place in space and the main characters were like cowboys who rode robot horses? I think it was only on for a short time here, but I remember loving it.

Another 80's cartoon that I remember loving that I don't know if anybody's mentioned is the Rambo cartoon. I don't think that one lasted long either.

I vaguely remember this show but not the name.

Also anyone know if Silversurfer was in the '80s or the '90s?

Voltron would be my #1 choice, followed by M.A.S.K.

Was it SilverHawks? But I don't remember the Silverhawks riding robot horses, although I know one of them was a cowboy. Maybe someone else who remembers the show better can help with the details.

I think he was referring to a show called Marshall Bravestar.

Silver Surfer was on about maybe 3 or 4 years ago. Marvel pulled the plug on it when they went into bankruptcy. There were only about 13 episodes. It was really good though.

I vaguely remember a show I used to love as a kid. It had a guy in it and when he got hot he would turn into a red car. I always remember his hands changing into tires first. Anyone know what the name of this cartoon was?

Wasn't there a CG G.I. Joe cartoon recently? I swore I saw something similar to that on TV.

My friend asked me the same thing about the kid turning into a car.

And I'll give you the same answer: I have no idea.

Also, the GI Joe cartoon after was GI Joe Extreme. Recently, there have been CGI commercials for GI Joe, but thats for the toys.

You'll be pleased to know that there is a Star Blazers revival underway. Matsumoto is currently working on Great Yamato, slated for a release date of "soon".

The misspell was my fault but -

Really? I know this must be weird coming from a guy but I will buy the movie in a heartbeat! Not sure about the episodes since I'd rather get season boxsets.

Thanks for the info, nightwing82!

GEM

I also liked, Strawberry Shortcake and the Inhumanoids.

Thanks for the support, iggystar. I just get embarrassed cos I know how weird it must look for a guy weened on G.I. Joe, Transformers, He-Man, horror and action movies to love this show so much.

Oh and both Strawberry Shortcake and the Inhumanoids rocked!

I'm actually partial to the Rainbow Brite movie but don't remember enough of the series to know if I liked it.

I remember that show! His mouth would get really wide because his face was the front of the car. Don't remember the name, though. :(

Was it these guys:

Then that would be the Adventures of the Galaxy Rangers - a DAMN awsome show, mostly from the pen of SF author Brian Daley.

At this month's WizardWorld convention in Chicago I spent a fair amount of time interviewing the folks from Hasbro and Mattel. For 80s television adaptations we have the second season of He-Man, a new Transformers series, and a GI Joe Cartoon Network movie. There's also talk of bringing back GI Joe as a regular series. On the bigscreen side, there's also talk of new He-Man and Transformer films.

nny 08-25-03 02:54 PM

El-Kabong, you're right, it was the galaxy rangers. Thanks.

edytwinky 08-26-03 03:18 AM

Ducktales

Is it true that Don Simpson (Natural Born Killers, The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen) is producing the liveaction Transformers movie?
