Some 'Boomtown' Season 2 news (spoilers likely)

Minor cast-related and somewhat story-related spoilers in the zap2it article.

http://tv.zap2it.com/tveditorial/tve...568|1|,00.html

The big news is that
Spoiler:
the character of Andrea Little will not return

Good change. Now all they need to do is

Spoiler:
Get rid of that superfluous paramedic character

Although I agree, that won't leave
Spoiler:
too many female characters.

Spoiler:
I don't think I can ever look at Stacy Keach again and not think of Ken Titus. Despite the short run of that show, I think that was one of the funniest comedic characters of all time.

Not overly fond of that. I didn't have a problem with it before. I understand the reasoning, but I don't think in this instance it was a problem, particularly in light of what Groucho mentioned.

Spoiler:
I don't think they should try and wedge in a female character just to have a female character. Watch "The Shield" to see how female characters SHOULD be done in a cop show.

Spoiler:

They didn't need to get rid of her. They just needed to stop trying to force her into every single episode.

Spoiler:
It makes more sense to me to keep her instead of the paramedic. I like both of the ladies and their characters, but at least the reporter brought more to the show than the EMT, even if they did make her role slower over the course of the season.

I wish they would have left this on Sunday nights. Now I don't have anything to watch after Alias. Damn ABC should put Karen Sisco in that 10/9 central timeslot, imo. There isn't anything else on that I can think of.

I'll still watch it, but I hate shows on Friday nights most of the time.

Get a DVR - don't be a slave to network scheduling.

I've been trying to convince the wife that is what we need for over a year now, but I can't find a spot in the budget right now. Plus her birthday is next week, so I have to buy her a gift and I don't think a PVR is what she's asking for - though it would be cool if she did.

"But honey, we have a VCR."

My sister has a Tivo, so she know how great they can be and how you don't have to remember to set the timer on the VCR. One day she will learn - when I come home w/ a PVR - how great they can truly be. Until then - you have two, can I borrow one?

Do you have digital cable or DirecTV? You can rent them from (although they suck compared to Replay and TIVO) for only $5-10/month depending on your provider. Aren't DirecTIVOs really cheap, at least compared to standalones.

Tell her a PVR means watching Paradise Hotel in 30 minutes. I swear - half of that show is a review of what happened previously and 'Coming Up Next...' teases.

Unfortunately, we only have basic cable just so we can utilize the cable modem. We have enough shows to watch on the networks alone, so we don't need anymore stations (though Espn/FoxSports and a CNN would be nice). Cable rates are the highest in the country in our area and I don't want to fork over anymore money to those bastards. We have discussed DirectTV quite a bit - if so, I will definitely get a DirectTivo then.

Oooh, that just might work! That's a great idea, because their piss-poor editing ticks her off, too. Sweet tits - I may have found the perfect argument - Thanks!

Spoiler:
Too bad about the female reporter leaving. She was the hottest chick on the show. The paramedic is annoying as hell

I became a fan of this show late in the series and dont know whos who. But if she was the hottest chick, than Im pissed!! The new season sounds cool though and Keach is a great actor. I cant wait to see him in there. Was Rick Gomez (Luz from Band of Brothers) a regular or anything? He should have stayed on the show. Same with the guy who played Guarnere from BoB; but he was killed. Its gonna be hard watching on Fridays though.
