some of it was funny some of it was dumb. i'll probaby continue to watch it only b/c there is such a lack of summer programming.

I thought it was pretty funny. It would be great to play as a drinking game. Wheelchair chicken was great.

I thought it was funny, but I expect them to run out of good ideas by the end of the first season. As for it being low-brow, when is the next Glutton Bowl?

Red Dog 07-14-03 08:26 AM

I'm waiting for Man vs Beast II. I'm hoping they can get Tony Kornheiser to provide commentary.

Unfortunately my tape ran out during the commercial break after the Lou Ferrigno on so I missed whatever happened during the last segment of the show. Was there a contest or we just had previews for next week/credits?

I just missed guessing right on two of them with them being the Simon Crowell and Gerisha girls ones. (I figured Simon would give up quicker and I picked the middle Gerisha girl.)

Yeah I figured Cowell would have left sooner as well.. I was amazed - he seemed worried that he may of actually offended somebody.

I kind of enjoyed this against my better judgment. The segments were mercifully short so the gags didn't overstay their welcome. I loved the Simon Cowell bit... it was dumb at first, but it just got funnier and funnier the longer it went on. I did feel the Asian aspect was a bit overdone and ventured into bad taste, moreso than the gags that were supposed to be in bad taste. The Lou Ferrigno segment was the lamest part and seemed way too forced.

I finally watched it after PVR'ing it [well, mostly--I have watched through the Simon Cowell bit.]
I thought it's pretty funny. Stupid, and over the top, but funny. Most of the humor seems to be more lighthearted, and the practical jokes aren't cruel, but more in line of what I think a practical joke should be. And, if you want to get deep, Lady One Question really demonstrated an interesting nuance of psychology--people want to hear themselves talk. Rule 1 when interviewing someone for a job [as in, you are doing the hiring] is Give the interviewee some silence, see what they say; it's very interesting.

I'm not Japanese, so I won't say it is or isn't offensive; it would be more offensive if they weren't Japanese folks doing the hosting. And I'm sorry, this is in no way the 'lowest of the low': I'd say Fear Factor takes that cake [eating raw pig snout and bathing in worms isn't fearful, just disgusting.]

I'll watch it again--I tell you what, it's the first non-Simpsons/Futurama major network show that actually made me laugh out loud ["I think she's mad at you."]

I liked the dialog for the chicken, too--Brave chicken, giving your alll for science. [On the zoom you could see the string they used to pull her down, and any dumbass who imitates something you see on a show like that, especially that could harm animals or people, is exactly that.]

I caught this for the first time this past Sunday. While I'm not sure I should be enjoying a show where I'm supposed to laugh at announcers with exaggerated Japanese accents, I thought the thing was bizarre and funny. Not to mention the stunning Princess Di/Harry Potter upset.
