I want my Maypo!

This was a maple flavored oatmeal type hot cereal.

It looks like they still make it too!

I remember the commercials vaguely, and the slogan... But even back then I had no idea what the hell it was...

I am scared by unidentified hot mush.

Just like no one believes me that peanut butter-flavored cookie wafers exist because they have never sold them here. We're stuck with chocolate, vanilla and strawberry. Also there's not a true Drake's Devil Dog in this entire state! The Little Debbie ones really suck too. That and Progresso Vegetable Italiano soup has suddenly vanished here. All my favorite foods seem to disappear. At least in NY, where I am from, they still sell these foods.

I remember back in the seventies, the Maypo box had a picture of a mid-teen flexing his biceps. "I want my Maypo" was still the slogan. This picture inspired me to start working out and I would like to see it again. Anyone seen it lately?

On that same note, no one believes me when I say there was a Googly Eyes Peanut Butter, with the grape jelly and other things already mixed in for the truly lazy.

Honk!

I think they still sell that here. It's called Goobers or something.

I believe original "I want my MTV" ad campaign was (inspired by / ripped off from) the Maypo commercials.

Wasn't this the stuff where the commercial had a guy saying 'Good stuff Maynard!' or something like that?

"Good Stuff Maynard" or something very similar is/was the slogan for Malt-O-Meal which is a different company than the makers of Maypo.
