this could be very bad. so what will happen to the channel? do you think they'll make a lot of changes or leave it be?

Viacom buying 50 percent stake in Comedy Central from AOL Time Warner for about $1.23 billion which gives it full control of the network.

If I read the article correctly, Viacom bought the remaining 50% of Comedy Central, and now owns 100% of the network.

IMO, I think this is good news. I would rather Viacom have it than AOL, and I don't see why Viacom would want to screw with the format too much. If it works, don't fix it.

Oh God, does this mean there will be network bugs telling us we're watching Comedy Central?

Could it mean a return of The State to TV? Could I hope for such a miracle? Does Viacom still hold the rights?

Comedy Central is doing just fine. They should leave it alone. Unlike a certain other (*coughscificough*) cable channel they very intelligently built their network into something that has been branded as a satisfying viewing experience overall, based on strength of programming.
