It actually wasn't what I expected, but the funniest part had to be the guy doing the backflip.

Pretty funny show imo. I actually thought it would be more serious than what it was. The dubbed over voices reminded me alot of Iron Chef.

This show is GOLD. I finally caught a couple episodes of it this evening. The obstacles make for some damned funny replays, and the commentaries and fake 'dubbings' are hysterical. Apparantly each episode is a bunch of clips from some Japanese show "Something Mountain", which had around 40 episodes, so the show should last a while.

Most Extreme Elimination Challenge is some funny A$$ stuff man. Only the Japanese would have game shows like this! I miss not having cable

Caught a repeat last nite..

Laughed my ASS off. Especially that bit where one of the contestants was doing all sort of gymnastics before running across the pond on those stones..

He does a back flip that nearly severs his head from his neck..

I think the name of the original show is Takashi's Mountain. I couldn't google up anything, so if anyone's google is better than mine, post please..

I nearly pissed myself last night watching this show. The part with the "gymnast" and the clip they kept repeating of the woman getting tangled up in that revolving barrel contraption.

you know what's really funny -- least for those of us into Japanese movies? The guy on the right in blue is Takeshi "Sonatine/Battle Royale" Kitano (Beat Takeshi). It's so funny when you compare all his ridiculously funny tv shows to his violent, bloody movies.

This Japanese show has been around since the early 90s. Yeah, that's right, the early 90s. Way way, before the reality TV series hit in America or England. So whether this show will continue to play on TNN will depend on the rating. They got plenty of episodes, and I mean plenty. Think it the show as popular as the Simpsons. That's about the same amount of time this show been around.

This show is so frickin' hilarious. I loved the part with the horses...insane. I was laughing so hard throughout the whole thing. It sucks having to wait until next week to see more episodes.

On it's own the show was hilarious, but with the dub it's even better. I couldn't stop laughing

Not until the weekend. Saturday and sunday seems to be the only times. I'm trying to record it for a freind.

I saw the series in Asia a LONG time ago. I think it was called Takeshi's Castle.

This show is on right now... and I had to catch my breath from laughing so hard. They had these guys running through an obstacle course like a videogame and it's just so frickin hilarious. I can't even hear the overdub but it's so visually funny on it's own!

Yeah, they list the original title at the end of the credits. Kinda looks like it was before Kitano's motorcycle accident -- his face seems normal for the most part.

Saw this show tonight and it was funny as ****!! I love how the people always come out with a huge smile on their face and then they fall head first into something, and they STILL have a huge smile on their face.

People getting hurt is really funny!

Even funnier is that dub that's loaded with sexual innuendo....like with contests where they throw balls at the contestants to knock them off whatever they happen to be standing on, someone gets pegged in the face and someone will mention that the contestant was taking balls to the face....

It's truly insanity, each show requires a minimum of two viewings for me....once to just laff my ass off at the insanity of what the contestants are doing, and once again to hear the dub stuff during the "competitions".

For those who know of this show....in reality, what exactly are these people putting their bodies on the line for, is it money? Or are they trying to redeem themselves of shame or some such?

It is most likely for cash. We lived in Tokyo in the early 90's and there were a ton of these type of shows on TV. We taped hours of them to bring home and still laugh at them after dozens of viewings.
