Yes, but that is more or less what he does on Angel.

Loved the first episode of Faith, the Vampire Slayer ;) It even had the requisite 'beat the crap out of the slayer' sequence.

I'm glad Lilah got a proper farewell.

The Cordy pregnant thing is feeling overdone, but I suppose they had no choice given her physical state.

Can't wait for next week...

Loved the episode except for Connor fawning over Faith at the end of the episode. Not that I wouldn't do that if I were in his shoes but still . . he's a superbeing.

Anyway, as said before many times in this thread, Faith kicks ass!!!

Why is that Angelus prefers to look human rather than "all Grrrr and stuff"? Or is this just to conserve makeup?

Patman 03-06-03 10:40 AM

If I were Connor and just met Faith, I'd be thinking:

"Damn, this chick's got game, and is H-O-T HOT! I'd be lucky to have her call me her beeyotch!" :D

I think all the Grrr and stuff only comes when they plan to do Vampire-like actions: fight, suck blood, etc. The random Vampires that show up are always Grrr because that's all they're there for: fight, suck blood, etc.

Good news on this episode (and for possible renewal), per The Futon Critic:

"Lastly, kudos to the WB's "Angel" which scored the Frog's best series performance in its time slot since November sweeps (3.7/5)."

Patman 03-06-03 10:56 AM

3.7 is good for Angel? That's about 0.5 up from the average Angel episode, right? Or am I thinking 2.7 is the average Angel rating?

Buffy did about 4.2 on UPN last season, and can't imagine it under 4 this season.

Chew 03-06-03 11:25 AM

3.7 is good for that time slot.

The long gone Birds of Prey held it previously, right?

The Wednesday overnight averages for Angel have ranged between 2.7 and 3.3. The national averages haven't been as kind.

Buffy overnights for the last few weeks are between 3.6 and 3.9, so this episode of Angel falls right in there.

What do you mean by the national averages?

Chew 03-06-03 12:02 PM

Well, I'm no Nielson Family, but.....

Overnights would be the number of viewers watching a program in select cities. Mainly the NY, LA, Chicago types. Since these cities are much more likely to have UPN/WB channels, the ratings are better.

National would be the ratings released the next week that take into account all markets . There's plenty of smaller cities that don't have access to the likes of WB.

cooper2000 03-06-03 12:20 PM

Good to hear that Faith helped improve the ratings. Too bad they couldnt have had her on during Sweeps but if WB ignores these recent ratings and cancels the show, they are sure to get a big backlash.
With Dawsons creek ending, Felicity and only Smallville on now, they dont have anything else worth watching.

DB is one of the few people I can picture as the Man of Steel. Certainly better than the current choice of Josh Hartnett! :yack:
I know it is unrelated to Angel, but Josh Hartnett has been out of the running for the Superman role for over a week:

I don't know if anyone else has mentioned this, but do you think there is a possibility that what Wesley was seeing was the First parading as Lilah and not Lilah herself?
IMO, if we continue to see her, then I might make that assumption, but for now, I don't know.

I thought the same thing. First, when Wesley saw her wake up and get off the table, I was thinking that Angel turned her. Then, when it was clear that she wasn't a vampire, my next thought was The First! But I'm not sure. I think if Wesley would have actually seen Liliah in a non-corporeal form, he would have done and said something. My conclusion that it was just a window into Wesley's thoughts and emotions at the time.

Patman 03-06-03 03:51 PM

I'll miss Lilah (well, the actress that plays her, Stephanie Romanov) because she was pretty hot.

sjrab16 03-06-03 04:32 PM

With Angel and Buffy characters now crossing over, I think The First appearing on Angel would not be a big shock. The rest of the season for both shows should be pretty good.

slop101 03-06-03 04:39 PM

Yes, Steph Romanov is incredibly HOT!!! I would say that she's the hottest woman in the entire Buffyverse.

BTW, that scene with her and Wesley reminded me of something right out of Six Feet Under.

Dr. DVD 03-06-03 04:44 PM

Surprised no one has posted any pics of the lady of the hour yet (Eliza, but Steph will do as well). I would do so myself but they all turn into red Xs. :(

She put her hands on Wesley's shoulders at one point. Interesting theory, but I think they were going for a Six Feet Under thing here.
