Re: Real Time With Bill Maher, Season 11 (2013)

Michelle Caruso-Cabrera did have an incredibly stupid moment on the show when her Climate Change Denialism reared its ugly head and she made the absolutely ridiculous claim that Al Gore selling Current TV to Al Jazeera somehow (by some sort of BS type of thinking) "proved" that Climate Change was a hoax.

+1. That and when he was railing on about everybody trying to be famous shows he does have an bit of a elitist quality about him. To Chris Matthews credit he did smack Maher down about others trying to be famous when he said "the ppl on this stage are the last ppl who should critque that"

Still it's an excellent show and he is quite funny.

I was surprised to see the Republican dude having to defend violent movies and video games against Bill and Short. Maher just came off like a fossil when talking about video games.

I think you misunderstood her point. It is a little ironic that he would sell to a news network that represents the interests of an area that lives off of the sale of oil.

Well, Rula's previous boyfriend was Julian Schnabel, who directed her book/screenplay Miral, and who's also 20 years her senior. So, yeah, she's certainly into older successful guys.

Rula and Bill did seem rather flirty with each other but I guess I've never really had that image .

Also I have to say that Steve LaTourette, the Republican panelist on this past Friday's show is one of the few rational ones I've seen in a long time on the show. The party needs more people like him instead of the nutjobs running the show at the moment. Martin Short was a surprisingly intelligent panelist too if you ask me. Sometimes the celebrity guests don't chime in much or seem to not really know much of what they're talking about but he seemed decent.

Rula was delicious but her dating that Schnabel guy is kinda gross.

Margaret Hoover is pretty. There is some other blonde (I forget who) who has been on a couple times and they were super flirty.

As flattering as it is that you missed me , I didn't have time to catch it since I'm at the inauguration basking in the glow of reflected glory. Expecting that the Rapture may take place at noon.

Keeping warm by signing petitions to amend the Constitution to rescind term limits for Presidents in case the aforementioned event doesn't happen.

It wasn't said as being ironic, it was Climate Change Denialism.

Maher said to Michelle Caruso-Cabrera: "You don't believe in Climate Change, do you?"

She said "no" and then went on that simply because Al Gore, a major climate change proponent, sold his company to Al Jazeera, a media company that happens to be based in a major oil producing area of the world, it somehow sets back the entire idea of Climate Change.

That not pointing out irony, it's some seriously screwy thinking.

Re: Real Time With Bill Maher, Season 11 (2013)

Michelle Caruso-Cabrera also sounded rather clueless in the Overtime segment when she blamed government regulation for the financial crash. And she then attributed the rating of investments to the government and not to the private companies (Standard & Poor's, Moody's, and Fitch Group) that actually handle the ratings and, due to their horrible ratings of CDOs made up of Mortgage-Backed Securities, contributed more than any other three companies to the bubble and eventual crash. Based on Michelle Caruso-Cabrera comments, it was clear that she has no understanding of the crash and probably believes a lot of right-wing BS on it.

Better check your TV Guide, you're not watching The Larry Sanders Show.

Al Jazeera doesn't just happen to based in a major oil-producing area, it was created, and continues to be funded, by the Qatar government. That government get's 70% of its revenue directly from oil sales, and most of the rest indirectly from oil businesses.
