Yep, it also had the skit where the USS Enterprise is a revolving restaurant in space. "Give me full relish!" and "Could you do me the upmost honor and eat my shorts?"

Plus, the "Mute Marine" and the "It's a Wonderful Life" skit where they beat up the old man.

Two Swiss accounts, were in his name.
Diverted funds, but who's to blame?
...
We may never know just what he's seen
That's why he's called the Mute Marine

Dan Aykroyd, I believe, as Julia Child.... Very badly paraphrased:

He walks the audience through a recipe, unfortunately cutting his hand very badly, talking the entire way, then reaches for the phone on the wall, 'forgetting that it's not a real phone,' then falling to the floor. Brutal, but funny....

Either that, or the Decabet....LMNO, because it's basically one letter anyway...

I get nothing out of the last, oh, seven years or so....I like Cheri Oteri, and I kinda like Will Ferrell, I just don't like any of the characters...those cheerleaders have outstayed their welcome after about thirty seconds, and those two wanna-be video dancers have been nothing but unfunny every time I saw them.
I know SNL still has its legions of fans, more power to you, but I miss the original cast...Newman, Belushi, Aykroyd, Morris, etc...
I am glad they've given Amy Poehler a chance at a big audience, while UCB has a cult following, it's not very 'big,' and I loved her and that troupe.

The first one that sprang to mind was "Word Association" with Pryor and Chase.

The "Anna Freud" sketch was also hilarious:

"Oh papa, yours was the only banana I ate."
"sometimes a banana is just a banana."

Of course, I haven't seen the show in 20 years, so there may be some since then that were good. I doubt it though - that show dies when Ackroyd and Belushi left.

The original Toonces the Driving Cat skit with Steve Martin. It was so completely ridiculous and arbitrary that it had me rolling. "Toonces look out!"

Mr. Short Term Memory (Tom Hanks) as a game show contestant. He's paired up with Tony Randall, "Hey! You're Tony Randall! Can I have your autograph please please please?? What's this? (reading autograph), 'Tony Randall?' What do you go around giving these things out?"

Another Tom Hanks classic: The 5 timers club

Eddie Murphy as Mr. Robinson in Mr. Robinson's Neighborhood: "This is how we answer the door in my neighborhood...WHO IS IT?!?!?"

Happy Fun Ball: "If Happy Fun Ball starts to smoke, duck and run for cover."

Andy Kaufman lip-synching to the Mighty Mouse theme song

Chris Farley in the first appearance of Matt the motivational speaker...when everyone involved struggled to keep a straight face

The list goes on and on

The motivational speaker skit i will never forget, especially watching it live when it was on (1993 i think). I was on the floor laughing. I miss those days:(.

Lots of good suggestions, but there's more that we can mention with the tag-line "I can't believe no one's mentioned..."

Seinfeld in Oz

Welcome Back Kotter as directed by Quentin Tarrentino: with Lenny & Squiggy AND Mr. Pink!

Janet Reno's Dance Party with the real Janet Reno

Another great moment was Steve Martin doing "King Tut"

Hey. I found this old thread by searching for "kickers".

Does anyone know if the old super bowl shuffle rap video parody has been released on any SNL dvd collections? You know the one...

We are kickers
We kick ball
We play with ball
We kick the ball

I am Raul
I'm kick machine
I play for seven different team
I kick football
I play with the ball
I kick for the team
I ... I ... am Raul.

Same here.

However, my all-time favorite skit is from 1985 featuring Harry Shearer, Christopher Guest, Billy Crystal, and Martin Short in a 60 Minutes expose on joke/novelty shops and defective (hazardous) whoopie cushions. Martin Short was brilliant in this one.

The first "Debbie Downer" skit, where Lindsay Lohan hosted, and the entire cast of the skit started cracking up. The closeups on Rachel Dratch as she lost it were priceless.

Aside from that, watching Will Ferrell play the cowbell during Queens of the Stone Age's live performance of 'Little Sister'.

.

I agree about that Debbie Downer. Watching Sanz and Lohan was great too. Too bad they had to run the skit into the ground (the Hilary Swank one was really awful, but the one with Steve Carell a few weeks ago was decent).

I believe that took the cake. Funniest thing I've ever seen.

Mr. Short-term Memory and The Contiental are my favorite skits. Mr. STM best one is his blind date.
Hamond as Clinton was always fantastic, especially when Clinton was leaving office - I love the skit where Hillary is moving out to go to NY, probably the best Clinton skit ever. The "last" Clinton skit before GW took office and Clinton was drunk and ripping everyone and confessing in his speach was great.

Some of my faves:

Chris Farley: Motivational Speaker

Christopher Walken: Office Dead Zone

The Hans & Franz "Pump you up" skits

Red Dog 10-14-05 12:24 PM

You can basically tell how old people are based on their answers.

Balah 10-14-05 12:26 PM

What about the Guy Who Plays Mr. Belvedere Fan Club sketch ?

tcoursen 10-14-05 12:48 PM

Will Ferrell skit where he shows up to the conference room meeting in a thong that is a US flag and a half shirt for casual day.

Shannon Nutt 10-14-05 12:51 PM

Can't believe it hasn't been mentioned yet. The single funniest SNL episode was when Buckwheat (Eddie Murphy) was shot and they did five or six skits throughout the whole show...basically a parody of the news coverage when Reagan was shot.

BUCKWEAT DEAD: AMERICA MOURNS!
Brought to you by Texxon. Life goes on, and Texxon is there.
Because Buckwheat would have wanted it that way!

An older one I always liked was when Eddie Murphy was doing a "Black History Month" talking about the fact that George Washington Carver tried to make phonograph needles out of peanuts. At one point, he stumbles over a word and the audience laughs at him...in character, he yells at the audience with something like "shut up, you try to say that!" He almost loses it at that point too. It's a really funny, random moment.

I watched SNL the most during the Hartman-Carvey-Dunn-Nealon-Jackson-etc. era, and a favorite of mine will ALWAYS be..."she's choppin' broccoli! she's choppin' broccolay, she chop she chop she chopUH! Shechoppinbroccolay-hey-hey-hey-HEEE!!!"

Actually I think he said:

"Shut Up! You better all quit laughing before you make me smile!"

kitkat 10-14-05 01:04 PM

Bass-O-Matic!

ShallowHal 10-14-05 01:13 PM

Mike Myers as the Hyper Hypo kid eating chocolate and dragging the playground equipment behind him.

Celebrity Jeopardy: Famous Titties! Not a fan of the ladies, are you Trebek?

Dana Carvey as Massive Headwound Harry, when the dog ate off the fake exposed brain.

Chris Farley as Matt Foley. Here's you, here's Matt. There's you, there's CRASH!

Christopher Walken's cowbell is a classic. There's even a song I heard on satellite radio that samples Walken, I wish I knew who did it.

Rob Schneider as Tiny Elvis!

One of the best was Sandler, Phil Hartman, and Woody Harrelson as singing cowboys. Harrelson: I'm glad I'm not a whipping boy, or a Chinese boy from China. And I'm glad I'm not a girl boy, with a big ol' girrrrll vagina! I wish I could get that on DVD.

The same show with Harrelson had one of the funniest sketches ever- Kevin Nealon, David Spade, Tim Meadows, Dana Carvey, Chris Farley, and Adam Sandler on the beach. Every guy had something they were embarassed about, so they didn't want to take off their shirt.
Kevin Nealon- Hairy
Dana Carvey- Baboon heart
Adam Sandler- Outie belly button. He took off his shirt, and they had a hot dog shoved in his belly button. Harrelson flicked it like a Lil Kim titty, and it moved like it.

BDLOU 10-14-05 01:53 PM

"I'll take Ape tit for 400"
"Thats A Petit"
