Funniest SNL moment or skit?

Here are a few
Chevy Chase and Richard Prior with Chase saying a word and Prior saying another
example
Chase: nig*er
Prior: Dead Honkey rotfl

Also some of the many Celeberty Jeopardy skits
Keanue Reeves (Tobey Mcgwire I think): I know kung fu
Alex Trabeck (Will Ferrell): No, you are not

Trabeck: just write a number, lets go to Mr Connery, what do you have down, looks like a V, even though you didn't want to win, you have won, lets see what you wagered "suck it Trabeck"
and many more.
Also seeing The Rock in a dress as an undercover police officer on "The Ladies Man"

Goat3001 02-12-03 04:51 PM

"GIMME A SODA BIIIIIIIIIITCH"

Maybe not the funniest but I've been saying it a lot lately.

Da Thrilla 02-12-03 05:02 PM

I agree but I'd limit it to the ones with Hammond as Connery in them. The other ones weren't as good.

From the early 80's - A family was having trouble with the crochety grandmother, so they hired Eddie Murphy as a sort of nanny for her. When the family was in the room, Murphy was polite and helpful, but when they left he abused the crap out of the old woman (I think it was Robin Duke).

Old woman: "Where's my jelly donut?"
Murphy: "Jelly donut? Tell me this, how the hell are you going to eat a jelly donut when there's no damn teeth in your mouth!?!" (grabs her head, yanks out her false teeth and flings them across the room)

And don't forget Mr. Bill!
"Oh noooooo!"

"Remember a couple of episodes ago....

TheMadMonk 02-12-03 06:08 PM

I gotta have more cowbell baby!

tygloalex 02-12-03 07:55 PM

Late 80's.

Dana Carvey as "Open Would Man" or something like that.

Also, Chris Farley's "Down by the River" character

Michael Jordan hula dancing with "Da Bears" guys.

inVectiVe 02-12-03 08:30 PM

Star Wars special re-release featuring the auditions of actors who *didn't* get the part:

Kevin Spacey as Christopher Walken auditioning for Han Solo: "I'm, captain! - of the.....Millennium. Falcon!" :)

I'm also a sucker for anything involving Norm Macdonald as Burt Reynolds, which now that I think of it, included Burt reading for the role of Darth Vader.

Alex Trabeck: He would now like to be called Turd Furgason.

Dubya 02-12-03 10:16 PM

Chris Farley and Patrick Swayze at the Chippendale tryouts.

another vote for "I've got a fever, and the only prescription is more cow bell"

bboisvert 02-12-03 11:13 PM

Early 1990s, some sort of superhero skit. Brief (1-2 second) shot of an extremely elaborate "Calcium Man" costume. Cracks me up every time.

I'm also a fan of "One Man's Demons" -- ("kill her, kill her") The obscure ones crack me up.

palebluedot 02-12-03 11:49 PM

A skit that I saw once and never saw again...and everyone I ever tell about it has never seen it. It had to be late 80s...maybe way early 90s.

It was a skit where it's something like the Brooklyn Theater does War of the Worlds. It was hilarious beacuse they put on the thickest Brooklyn NY accents and the title was actually Woi of da Woilds....and every other word was funkin'.... "Hey Gina...look it's the funkin' aliens...let's funkin get outta here."

Probably the funniest skit I have ever seen on SNL.

Tarantino 02-12-03 11:54 PM

gotta throw Schmitts Gay Beer out there, as well as...

"GET ON THE DAMN BAG!!!" (Will Farrell)

and...

Jingleheimer Junction!

raKim 02-13-03 12:15 AM

There was one i think with mike meyers where he was out to dinner and all the jokes he made were one conversation back, and then he went into the bathroom got in a time machine and came back and then all of his jokes were timed right with the rest of the people, it was funny if you remember it

Giles 02-13-03 12:18 AM

as of recent, I really found the little animated short "Bambi 2" and the recent repeat of "Charlie Brown Christmas Revisited" to be funny.

ChefWinduAZ 02-13-03 12:59 AM

Besides a lot of the ones that have already been mentioned one of my favorite skits is The Exorcist with Richard Pryor....

"Your mama knits socks that smell!"

blahloney 02-13-03 02:39 AM

ummm.... what about

Schwetty Wieners

or the

Schwetty Balls

shanester 02-13-03 04:11 AM

Dana Carvey as Kasey Kasem and The Angry Old Man were priceless!

I also remember a skit in the 80's when Eddie Murphy was transformed into a caucasian man and went around New York to see what life was like as a white man..

I'll always remember that line he says after he looks in the mirror with all his make on:

''I look kind of Harry Reemish"

FYI..(Harry Reems was a famous 80's porN star!)

TheBigDave 02-13-03 07:09 AM

Dark and lonely

Got no reason
What the heck
Kill my landlord
Kill my landlord

All of the best stuff from SNL over the years has usually been the short films.

Synchronized Swimming-Harry Shearer and Martin Short
Videogame Addiction
Eddie Murphy White Man Experiment
The Heat is On (The 'H' is 'O') with Ben Stiller
Food Pawn Shop with Steve Buscemi

Im hoping that Broadway Video will someday throw all of the short films on DVD.

davejt1 02-13-03 08:41 AM

SNL has had so many good skits (and so many crap-tacular ones), but the three that really stick in my mind as ones that had be rolling:

1. Pete Schwetty: I have no idea how Alec Baldwin did these skits without cracking up - I cry from laughing so hard every time I see him say his lines with a straight face.

BTW - The next time it airs, look away from the TV or close your eyes and imagine that you're listening to it via radio (as it's portrayed in the skit). Simply hilarious imagining what the hell is going on in the booth with all of those ooohs and ahhs!

"There are lots of great treats at this time of year - zucchini bread, fruitcake; but the thing that I like to bring out most at this time of the year are my balls."

2. Wil Ferrell as Alex Trebeck: Pick a favorite - they're all good:

"Are You English or retarded?" (speaking to Minnie Driver as portrayed by Molly Shannon)

Of course, you would have to add Darrell Hammond as Sean Connery to the mix:

"Trebek, that jacket looks quite nice on you. One more question: Do they make it in men's cut?!? HaHaHa"

3. And finally, who could forget Wil Ferrell taking great artistic license in portraying Gene Frenkle of Blue Oyster Cult in the infamous cowbell sketch http://www.pauseandplay.com/boc.htm:

"I'll be doing myself a disservice, and everybody in this band, if I don't perform the hell out of this."

pezboy 02-13-03 09:35 AM

Cowbell sketch--definately the defining sketch of the last 5 years. The Gore/Bush debates got more publicity and were smarter, but the Cowbell rules them all!

Also:

The Sinatra Group--(as evidenced by my sig) "Can't understand a word he says"

Jackie Rogers Jr.'s $100,000 Jackpot Wad--"Chocolate babies"

tommyp007 02-13-03 11:28 AM

Also loved all the Walken skits as "The Continental"

and another vote for the Scmidts Gay beer spoof

Anyone remember "Toonces the Driving Cat"? Always cracked me up

edytwinky 02-13-03 12:37 PM

Anything with Adam Sandler always made me laugh!

zooiiks 02-13-03 01:58 PM

Don't think I can choose just one, so:

The original Toonces the Driving Cat skit with Steve Martin. It was so completely ridiculous and arbitrary that it had me rolling. "Toonces look out!"

Mr. Short Term Memory (Tom Hanks) as a game show contestant. He's paired up with Tony Randall, "Hey! You're Tony Randall! Can I have your autograph please please please?? What's this? (reading autograph), 'Tony Randall?' What do you go around giving these things out?"

Another Tom Hanks classic: The 5 timers club

Eddie Murphy as Mr. Robinson in Mr. Robinson's Neighborhood: "This is how we answer the door in my neighborhood...WHO IS IT?!?!?"

Happy Fun Ball: "If Happy Fun Ball starts to smoke, duck and run for cover."

Andy Kaufman lip-synching to the Mighty Mouse theme song

Chris Farley in the first appearance of Matt the motivational speaker...when everyone involved struggled to keep a straight face

The list goes on and on

bboisvert 02-13-03 02:05 PM

I can't believe I forgot about Happy Fun Ball.

"Do not taunt Happy Fun Ball."

Damn, I forgot about this one. Classic!

Shatner - "You there (Jon Lovitz in Spock outfit). You look like you're about 30. Have you ever kissed a girl?"
Lovitz hangs head in shame.

Anytime David Spade did Hollywood Minute. Also during his last two years the Spade in America skit.

Cheri Oteri and Will Ferrell doing the breakfast show Morning Latte. Oteri: "He cold-cocked him!"

There was also a skit, during the first years of Will Ferrell, where they were a news show, and the teleprompters went out. This caused the news anchors to panic and resort to Lord of the Flies brutality. It was hilarious. They started a tribe called the Tribe of the Black Hand. I've yet to ever see it again.

Any show that Chris Walken is on. Comedy gold.

JasonF 02-13-03 03:36 PM

Here's some good ones that haven't been mentioned:

The mid-80s one at the nudist colony ("Hey Bob! Nice penis.")

The music video that the NFL kickers supposedly made (around the same time as the Superbowl Shuffle)

I always loved Lothar of the Hill People

The Bush/Dukakis debate

Ronald Reagan as the secret mastermind who pretends to be a genial old man ("Sir, it's time for that photo-op with the girl scout." "Damn!")

Jon Lovitz as Tommy Flannagan, the pathological liar ("Yeah, that's the ticket!")

The Bass-O-Matic

Jason 02-13-03 03:54 PM

The political debate between Clinton, Bush, and Perot.

Ross Perot takes Admiral Stockdale for a ride in the country.

Any holiday song sung by Tonto, Tarzan and Frankenstein.

Happy Fun Ball.

The Sinatra Group.

Mr. Robinson's Neighborhood.

Rypro 525 02-13-03 04:01 PM

A few more from the ladies man
Cameron Diaz as Monica Lewinski as Leon shows what he would have done diferently with the Clinton bj thing.
RollerGirl's career in the porno industry

darth bird 02-13-03 04:15 PM

how about Phil Hartman as Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer?

"I'm just a poor caveman. Your ways frighten and scare me."
