Er - 06/02

Well, it wasn't a very good episode except for a few major items.

Spoiler:
Romano gets a bomb dropped on him when they remove him from active surgical whatever (I forget his position name). Second major item is Abby's brother is apparently dead, they spent enough time on that and probably will again next week. Other than that, well, very little happens so I wont comment

I'm hoping next week is better.

ok ep.

Looks like Abbys brother is dead. One family member down one to go I wish 24 would take a lesson from this on what to do with characters that bring a show down.

I wish theyd give Susan more to do. She's the only Doc on the show that is entertaining right now.

Hopefully will get the old Romano back now. And when did Anspaugh come back. He's been gone for 2 or 3 years and now he's popping back up.

Yeah this episode was very week. In fact, It made me sick that one of the main stories that they brought up in the commercial (car accident thing) didnt even do anything exciting until there was like 5 min left and then it was dumb!

I too hope next week is better

One thing I love about Romano: like Benton, no matter how sour he acts, he's always there for the patients.

I have no problem w/ Tom E. Scott. It's Sally who makes me groan when I see her coming.

Weaver (loudly) calls Romano an a--hole and Chen basking in the afterglow ...worth the price of admission for me, folks!

  • Cons
    • NBC's ridiculous "dramatic" promos about the "Call no one wants to get".

    • Abby & Carter in bed.

    • Not enough skin from Deb.

    • Do they KNOW where they're going with Susan's character?

    • That whole psycho school chick thing was stupid.

    • NBC's promo about the "car accident".

  • Pros
    • "I have a heart, a soul & two working legs..."

    • Romano.

    • Romano & his "tumors"

    • That chick that Romano promised to save.

    • No Luka, Leon or Elizabeth.

    • More Gallant.
Is Leslie Bibb done with the show? Last week, someone commented that Carter's trip was being set up for Wyle leaving the show. Guess not. But, that's okay...I thought they were setting it up for another location show [like they did with Benton] with Carter.

I think for now she is. I remeber it was planned for her to die in the car accident but they changed it at the last minute so she wasn't written in anything after that.

I must've missed something somewhere down the line. Romano was Chief of Staff, wasn't he? So, when did Anspaugh come back and why is he giving orders?

I guess we'll be seeing the testicular cancer kid around for at least next week. He seemed to like Susan, and who wouldn't? I'll take her over Chen or Abby any day.

    Honk!

The plain fact of the matter is this show, and has always been, chock full o' babes.

Chen, Lewis, Corday, Randi, Abby, Chuny, and yes...Weaver.

I love her. Anybody who's never seen her play Lowell's wife 'Bunny' on Wings can't appreciate just how sexy she can be.

In days of old we've had Jorja Fox (well named), Michael Michelle, Kelly Martin, Maria Bello and my personal fave Julianna Marguiles.

The show's not Baywatch, but it's always been easy on the eyes.

(I'm sure I've probably forgotten someone...)

AAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!! Just when you thought it was safe to watch ER during a sweeps weeks period, we get her damn family back on the show!!!! I don't blame Abby, if I had her immediate family, that's plenty enough to drive anyone to drink.

Anyone think Romano is going to really kill himself by the end of the season, it's been foreshadowed, and the hospital administration is slowly but surely metaphorically cutting off his other limbs by restricting him to a teaching capacity.

I get the feeling that Susan is more than resigned herself to the fact that being alone isn't all that bad. I don't htink she's at the point that she feels lonely, though.

Weaver's treading on dangerous ground, especially when the alderman finds out about her lesbian side, he might not be a charitable towards her and Country General...

Pratt and Chen - I think he'll pull away after the revelation of Chen giving up her child. I think internally Pratt will have problems being with someone who could give up a child given her socio-economic status.

Too bad they didn't get Fugit much face-time. Most of the ER cases weren't all that compelling this time around.

Also, keep in mind that Chen's family reacted badly to the baby's mix of ethnicities. Pratt won't like that no matter how she slices it. If she tells him, it'll affect his perceptions of her. If she hides it and he finds out...that'll be bad too.

FYI, the kid w/ testicular cancer is being played by Patrick Fugit, who starred in Almost Famous...

as for Anspaugh, IIRC, he returned after Romano had his arm severed.

This episode could have been much better than its mediocre self.

Romano was excellent and his remark towards Weaver about having two working legs was one of his top five comebacks ever.
If he goes down at the end of the season, may he take Weaver w/ him. Then Carter can run the show.

I wanted to hear Abbie tell Chen to go f*** herself when she told Abbie that she was just a nurse, etc. Chen's character is a bitch. Pratt is going to find out soon, too. I was surprised that he didn't flip when he found out about her baby, but I guess he didn't find out why yet, did he? Liking Pratt more now that Leon is off to the East Coast.

When is Maura Tierney going to win an Emmy? Enough w/ the freaking West Wing and honor her for her work on this show. It sucked that you just knew that the bottle was coming before the credits rolled.

Susan is going to hook up w/ Gallant, unless he hooks up w/ Leslie Bibb first...if she comes back.

I wish they would bring Maria Bello back on the show, her two season weren't enough.

Good to see Kovac back next week and Carter comes home on a mission.

So, here's a question. Was Chen justified in reporting the prostitute to social services?

I think she was out of line. As in anything, the rules for raising children have to be blurred. While a suburban single mother leaving her kids alone to go to work is wrong, the line blurs to not include single mothers, with well-adjusted children apparently, who have to hook to support the family. While I'm sure I will take criticism for this, lots of things on ER are blurred because of the social status of the patients that come through there. Free drugs for patients etc.
I'm sure I can formulate a better argument, but I think it raises an important discussion.

12 and 6 years old if I remember correctly.

I remember babysitting at eleven, so the daughter was definitely old enough in my book.

I agree. She gets shafted just like Julianna Marguiles used to.
