The Simpsons 2/3

Not that great an episode, IMO.

Had its moments.

- The jukebox beating when Love is A Battlefield, At Last, and Relax played.

- and the beating from the Godfather was

Question: What was the musical score playing when Marge picked up Lenny?

Was one of the better episodes for the past few seasons IMO.

Loved almost everything about it except for that little twilight zone bit - seemed out of place.

Overall though, really good episode.

Tetris rules.

On a side note, I don't think anyone will care about the date .

Wow, they did. I had forgotten about that. I guess we'll have to wait till we get season 14 on DVD to see it. 2016 can't come soon enough...

I loved it. One of the best episodes in a long time. The laugh-out-loud jokes were fast and furious. The dinner on the air hockey table was one of the best sight gags ever. The godfather reference was precise and hilarious.

at "Disco Stu should have Disco Ducked"

at the air hockey dinner

at the Goofy hat on the robber

at "This is like being in Cheers"

Question: The music playing when they showed the aftermath of Marge's brawl was distinct but I couldn't place it. What was it in reference to?

This reminded me of the good ol' days!

The Twilight Zone parody with the mailman was alright.

And just when you thought all the pepper-spray gags were used up, leave it to Ralph to top Homer and his food spraying.

"I'm married to Joey Heatherton"!

Otto - "Man, what am I smoking? Oh yeah, pot."

"That is the most pungent thing I have ever smelled, and I am from India!"

The movie Platoon

It was a pretty good episode. Plenty of great gags and returning "old-school" characters (Ruth Powers, the barflies, Herman) and programs (Eye on Springfield). I'll have to admit the episode did stumble a bit in the 3rd act and unfortunately my VCR didn't tape the end of the episode. Can someone please describe what happens after Marge beats up everyone at Moe's?

edit: FYI this is unofficially the 300th episode of The Simpsons. The official 300th episode airs as part of a pair of new episodes on Feb. 16.

i don't think it was out of place... after all, simpsons is known for its random asides, and this only falls into that category... however, i thought it was one of the more unfunny random asides that they have done.

i missed the first five to seven minutes of the episode, did the godfather bit happen during that period, or did i just not pick up on a reference later on?

i loved homer's bedroom conversation - "rebuttal?"

The godfather bit was Marge beating up the robber. It was the same as Sonny beating up Carlo after he beat Connie.

I thought it was good.

Very fun to watch. The end wasn't as strong as the rest of the episode, but I laughed out loud many times in this episode, and there have been episodes where that didn't happen at all.

I really liked this episode a lot. Though I could have swore the episode was a bit different from the radio promo I heard this morning. The radio spot had Marge asking the bad guy "What are you going to do about that bloody nose?" Then when the bad guy says "What bloody nose?" You could hear Marge smack him. Then Homer makes the "Shaft" comment.
This seemed to be left out of the show tonight unless I somehow missed it.

To the guy who asked what happened after the fight at Moe's, Moe looked at all the damage and said,"Well, there's only one way I can recoup from this damage", and he started pouring gasoline on the counter. He lit a match and set it on fire. Carl ran up and said, "Um, Moe, first you need to get insurance!"

LOVED the Godfather homage. Did anyone notice if Caan's phantom blow was included in the scene; that would have made it perfect?

As for the ep, this one just didn't do it for me, but I'm not sure why. May be because they lost me with the phobia angle, as I just didn't see it in Marge's character (I KNOW, it's only a cartoon).

Other highlights:

Wiggum's "I'll put my best man on it.........OH, boy....." had me laughing.

"I told you: I can't write good parts for women."

Bart as Apu.

Still think the line of the night was in the second ep repeat:

"....and he played Uncle Velderschmenck on Bewitched, too".

For some reason, that just cracks me up everytime.....

For anyone who is curious, the piece itself is entitled "Adagio for Strings" and is by Samuel Barber. It's been used in a number of movies and such. Fantastic piece.

The best episode of the season, maybe several seasons.

"Is there any non-gay porn?" Lisa buying a Van Gogh at the yard sale. The Godfather beating. "I don't see any of you looking for your attackers." All-natural supplements.

I lost it during 'Tetris', that was the funniest scene in a long time.

You can add professional body builder to the list of jobs that Marge has quit. hehe.

Nope, as soon as she started beating the robber I knew it was the Godfather scene they were doing and I immediately started to look for the phantom punch. It wasn't in there, but at least they did it accurately shot for shot.
