despite the fact that I'm a little worried about what's in store in the next couple of episodes.

Upcoming season 14 episode synopses courtesy of The Simpsons Archive

Spoiler:
One episode involves Homer fighting a bear and another involves him waging war on a group of beavers (I kid you not).

But who knows, this season has been pretty decent so far (the last two episodes had some of that classic Simpsons magic if you know what I mean), so I pretty optimistic that Groening and Co. will make OFF go out with a bang .

What's wrong with some of you people? Just because The Simpsons doesn't live up to previous seasons doesn't mean the show sucks? And what the hell do you want for FREE!?!?!?!? (and don't bring up the cable bill excuse because it's not a good one)

As long as FOX can reasonably continue to make the show (i.e. Enough Money) then GO FOR IT! I agree that the show isn't as funny as it used to be, but I still don't find myself ignoring all the new episodes

Considering most of the shows that are currently airring, I don't think the Simpsons has ANY reason to end.

Once more with feeling: haven't watched it for three years, won't be watching new ones ever again. Will be buying seasons 1 - 10 or so. I think the show started to really suck about the time that they killed Maude Flanders.

This is great news. I can NEVER have enough of Homer and the gang. However, King of the Hill can fall off the face of the Earth. It takes itself too seriously

All i can say is this: Just because you can, doesnt mean you should. Just because i can replace all the sheet metal on my car with plywood doesnt mean i should.

And the show will never end, FOX has got squat to go off of after "The Simpsons" go off the air. The only thing thats gonna kick this show off the air is if it becomes so damn derived and pointless that it pisses a majority of the viewers off and then FOX cancels it.

When Futurama ends i quit watching FOX. Am i pissed about the shows cancelation? No, FOX has nothing to offer me after the show goes off the air and im not masochistic enough to watch anymore of thier IQ dropping shows or able to see yet another wonderful show get the axe before it can take off.

For those who still think the show is "as good as ever"....when the day arrives when you find the show terrible and are unable to watch it again....don't complain.

That makes absolutely NO sense

Again, ???? You complain about thier IQ dropping shows...What do you think will replace The Simpsons if it goes off the air??.....You Guessed it! Another IQ dropping show!! So what's your point?

It's not like The Simpsons is holding back any new show from being aired. And (the last time I checked) there were 100 other channels on the tv. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it should be off the air. If you wanna play that game, then I'd suggest taking Buffy, Angel, The Sopranos, Oz, etc. off the air because I don't like them

So just because they have the money to continue a show they should? Even if the writing goes down the sh*tter its still ok to keep the show on the air?

I suppose its alright to let a fine show such as "The Simpsons" slowly degrade into another IQ dropping show instead of saying "Enough is enough". What do you do when the show doesnt have any witty lines to quote and when every episode isnt any more memorable than the last 50? Then what? Continue watching simply because its "The Simpsons" and its been on so long?

As long as you get the show beamed into your home it doesnt matter how crappy the show gets as long as you have that "Simpsons fix"?

I love "The Simpsons" as much as the rest of you but im not thrilled about watching this show become a sad shadow of its former greatness.

I guess that's where you and I disagree. I agree that it's not as funny as it used to be, but that doesn't mean it's crap. I still think it can hold a stick to any of those other "so called" sitcoms that are out there right now.

The Simpsons still have plenty of funny lines, and some great situations, but the writers suffer from the same problem the SNL writers do: they do not know how to end a story. I've seen endless SNL skits start out funny, only to kind of dribble out at the end. The same holds for the Simpsons. A recent episode started out funny, with the Simpsons being on a reality show, but the whole thing fell apart in the third act. Even though it's a cartoon, it has to have some shred of plausibility.

Here's to a strong comeback.

Was that the show where they all started dancing at the end for no reason at all Agreed, The simpsons have that SNL problem of ending the episode. As I recall, the 3 Stooges had the same problem.

No, that was the one where the cast acted out the classic stories like Joan of Ark, the Odyssey, and Hamlet. At the end, for no reason whatsoever, they all started dancing to the theme song from "Ghostbusters". Great episode up till the last 20 seconds.

The reality show episode ended with the house being sent down a river, and an island of lost reality show castaways (or something).
