Farscape -- "Season" Premiere "Kansas" 01.10.2003
While you're waiting...here's some light reading:

http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthr...hreadid=242210
http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthr...hreadid=253641
http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthr...hreadid=235083
And here's the thread from last "season's" finale:

As an aside, I find it interesting that Farscape is repeated after Stargate's repeat...
But, that's just me.

Farscape thread on the second page and with no comments...come on people. tell me you're all watching.
If not you missed a great episode...almost made the last few months of waiting worth it (well not really)
Some really great stuff in this episode and it certainly sets up the arc for the rest of the season, though I'm not sure how long
And this episode contains one of the funniest bits in Farscape history. I don't want to spoil anything, but
.
I have more to say, but I'll wait till people catch the show.

Great ep.
The only thing that was nagging at me was my previous exposure to time travel theories. I kept trying to apply them here.
Other than that, it was great & I look forward to next weeks.

It was great to see a New episode and after watching it and even during, I knew that it was going to be hard to say goodbye to this show.
There is no justice!
I loved the theme about missing a loved one who has passed away and having the chance to talk to them again.
Loved the comedic bits too.

Nice to see you all here!
In short, I liked the episode a lot. Claudia Black in an outfit like that? It should be pulling in a 30 share in the Nielsens.
Gotta say, though, that I think that things are really going to hit their stride starting next week.

I gotta admit...I didn't really like this one. I much prefer the peacekeeper/scaran thing rather than the earth/mucking with the timeline thing. That's my call, though. Aeryn was hot in that outfit, so that's definitely a good thing. I guess I'm just disappointed that the show's going off the air. Damn Sci-fi.

Unfortunately, they are also running about 3 weeks behind.
A better bet would be to keep an eye on www.farscapeworld.com and www.savefarscape.com -- I'm sure they'll post the ratings as soon as they get a source. I'm pretty curious too, although I hold out little hope for a renewal at this point... even if all 11 shows do very well.

No one has mentioned the part that had me all teary-eyed and upset?
The moment when Crichton leans into his younger unconscious self, kisses him on the forehead and quietly says: "Try not to frown so much."
I just lost it there.
All of the moments involving Crichton seeing his family's past from afar hit home for me and had enough gravitas to balance out the silly slapstick elements concerning the rest of Moya's crew hiding out in the abandoned split-level home on Halloween.

Although I don’t mind time travel stuff as a rule, I think it’s all been done before. Go back in the past and actually be a part of history – I’m surprised they went for that angle.
But, in spite of that minor misgiving, lotsa fun.

I'm sorry, but I had a hard time with Crichton explaining Einstein's rules of time, and having to correct the point where past events differ. In short, I agree with that concept, but just keeping his dad from going on Challenger doesn't solve the problem that his dad was never supposed to go on Challenger in the first place. Shouldn't Crichton have tried to figure where that change came in? Or did I miss something?
If my facts are wrong, I blame it on drugs.

It's been a while since I saw the episode with Einstein, so I'm a little fuzzy on the details, but I thought this was how Farscape time worked:
If Crichton returns to a place he's been by traveling through a wormhole to a time before he entered, he will create an unrealized reality that diverges from his own timeline. However, if he corrects the major effect of his unrealized reality (his dad going on the Challenger), the timeline will snap back to the original reality, and all the small changes will eventually have no effect on the net flow of history. To go back and try to figure out what caused his father to go on the Challenger in the first place would just cause more problems.
But because the cop didn't have his memory erased, they still exist in a divergent timeline, which is why Crichton's father is there to greet him on Moya. Since those officials were secret government types, I'm guessing the changes remained hidden and didn't affect history until after the time Crichton returned to the present.

Apparently, the ratings for this episode were a 1.34:
http://www.watchfarscape.com/news/ar...php?newsid=218
Nothing to cry over, but definitely not any sort of huge increase to make Sci-Fi stand up and take notice. There's no way that they'll renew the show...

Too bad they Dont combine the two.
Courtesy of a reliable source, we have the national ratings in for last week's Friday night lineup on The Sci-Fi Channel.
8PM Farscape 1.34
9PM Stargate 1.75
10PM Tracker 1.45
11PM Stargate 0.89
12PM Farscape 0.78
1AM X-Files 0.60
Before you respond, we have a few things we would like to say.
Yes, they're not as high as we would have liked.
But they're higher than anything aired in Season 4 so far except for 401 and 411. The first half of Season 4 averaged 1.25, so we're moving in the right direction. If you compare "Kansas" to earlier seasons, you'll see that the average for all of Season 3 was 1.34. And last summer, Farscape only averaged a 1.2 rating.
We HAVE made a difference.

Farscape's numbers definitely aren't bad, but they aren't amazing. And I don't think anything short of amazing would make them reconsider... They'd rather just show cheaper shows, infomercials, re-runs of Monk, or whatever else does roughly as well in the ratings...
If the first showing got a 2.0, that would be another story...
