In what world wouldn't Clarke Peters (Freamon), Andre Royo (Bubbles), and Idris Elba (Stringer Bell) not be considered of having given one of the best performances on TV in any given year? I'm not even going to mention actors like Micheal Williams (Omar)or the work that J.D. Williams (Boodie) did in just one episode of season 4.
I just don't get it. |

I'm gonna paraphrase some of my thoughts from the previous thread, and add new stuff:
As I was watching McNulty talking about the ribbons, I saw the guy next to him. "Is that Barlow? It couldn't be!" Then when Bunk called out his name I was pumped. The last time we saw Mr. "Can you hear that? Because that's my fucking dick in your ear!" was in the pilot. Great to see him back, that was the one thing I thought was off about the show, an unexplained character disappearance from the pilot. Looks like The Wire fixes that. No surprise that Freamon agrees with McNulty's tactics. Awesome though. When he said "You fucked up" everybody knew he would continue with advice instead of admonishment. Six Flags scenes were sort of cool because I used to go to that location with my friends back in the day. Batman stunt show! Also quite telling of how "sheltered" Michael is, in that he doesn't know the general location of Fairfax. Newspaper story is getting more heated. Marlo's gang...especially Snoop...will pay for what they did to Omar's friends. Donnell Rawlings! Good to see him again. Also funny to see Leander bored with having to babysit the hearings. Prop Joe...stop helping Marlo. Good to see Valczek again, too bad he won't get to be acting deputy. Questions for the future: Need to see Colvin and Prez. Where are they? I wonder what more shady dealings Herc will get into? |
Maybe I missed it or they may just not be including her in the stories - did anything happen to Lester's girlfriend?
Thanks |

This episode was friggin awesome.. Hardcore stuff they did to Omar's uncle? Awesome that he didn't give Omar up..
Can't wait for the next ep! |
Great episode!
I was really surprised to see the subject of Daniels' shady past come to haunt him. That hasn't been mentioned since season 1. I'm sure Burell will leak that to the Sun. Lots of stuff that made me smile this episode: McNulty in the parking lot with the girl from the bar; Valczek vying for the commissioners seat Marlo in his tropical shirt, totally out of his element, at the foreign bank (do they not have english speaking tellers?) Omar handing out lollipops to the local children. |
Very good episode.
I agree that I can see Lester going along with McNulty. The look on Bunk's face during that part was great. It was funny and sad seeing Dukie use what he learned in Prez's class last season and explaining things to Michael, how fast the ride was moving and putting backspin on the ball, at the park. Can't wait to see Omar on the warpath back in Baltimore |

omars back!

Wow. When the credits came up I was stunned, felt like I had only watched 15 mins. Couldn't believe the episode was over.
Snoop and Chris had a plan, well chris did, and Prop Joe knows he doesn't want Omar back, but Marlo is not smart. He thinks he is but oh boy. You don't go after the weak and not have Omar come back at you. Brilliant episode, I've been holding off on watching these until the sunday airing, but it's getting harder |
It was nice to see Isiah Whitlock Jr (AKA Clay Davis) in a Southwest Airlines commercial today during the football game. I feel bad for the actor, but it's hard for me to see him in anything without laughing. That having been said he did have a nice dramatic moment in this week's episode. It looks like Clay Davis may be finally going down.

It was nice to see Micheal and Dukie playing the rolls of normal suburban teenagers. Unfortunately as soon as they get out of the car they are confronted with reality. " Nice dolphin *****" rotfl
Really good episode. |
The younger city reporter fabricated the Nerise quote, right? I can't see his storyline ending well.
Man, it's going to be a rough week for Baltimore. I have a hard time seeing Prop Joe, Cheese, Marlo & his crew making it through the year. Then again, with all the gunplay that's sure to happen, it looks like Omar might get got. :( |
The Wire / Episode 54 / "Transitions" 01/27 (Now On Demand)
"Buyer's market out there." - Templeton
Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow. One of the best endings to an episode since Spoiler:
FYI to those who hate spoilers, this episode catches up the masses on the net to the next three leaked screener episodes. Be wary of the content in spoiler boxes the next couple of weeks. |
Davis is going down but he is going to drag some people with him into the dungeon......
Wonder if that scene with Omar was actually filmed in Puerto Rico or another island....definately looked third world. |
yes the younger reporters is pretty stupid, and vindictive.
I really am enjoying the newsroom stuff. Esp Gus. |
after what they did, there's no way Marlo (and crew) are getting out of this season alive...
|
Damn, this episode certainly moved the story along. Lots of scenes to love this week...McNulty and Freamon working on the body...Prop Joe and Herc talking in Levy's office...etc.
I wonder if Burrell's report on Daniels will have legs. Certainly, it looks like she's saving it to play later. As for the big scene at the end (hiding out of consideration of those who haven't seen it) Spoiler:
|
I agree, fast moving episode. And of course Tom Shales spoiled the ending in his article a few weeks back.
And yeah...I saw 5 & 6 as well...good stuff. |
Damn I love this show...saw 5, 6 & 7 as well....shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiet, have to wait a month before a new episode. :(
|
damn, great episode
i really hope slim charles doesn't die.. but dunno where he would go now, doubt he'll go w/ marlo, so they might just end up killing him |
