The Wire 11/21/04

Season 3 is really getting good.

Anyone else watching the best show on tv?

sven 11-21-04 06:40 PM

I AM I AM.

I really wish there were more than 5 episodes left. It seems this season has finally got some direction in the last two episodes. It was kinda all over the place at first. Either way I cant wait.

hboafficionado 11-21-04 07:08 PM

Actually, there's only four left:
Tonight - Slapstick
11/28 - Reformation
12/12 - Middle Ground
12/19 - Mission Accomplished

sven 11-21-04 07:21 PM

Damn it......its always sad to see one of these seasons end but atleast you know there is gonna be another awesome show to take its place.

Buck Turgidson 11-21-04 11:58 PM

Poor Prez...

No one, in the whole history of the term's use, has ever said the word "Bullshit" better than Daniels/Lance Reddick does. He makes it symphonic.

And Theresa D'Agostino/Brandy Burre has a great  ass.

Manco 11-22-04 05:33 PM

Damn! To bad about Prez. He seemed to be a good behind the scenes kind of cop. Desk job stuff or surveillance. He always came across as too awkward for the streets.

I was away from the tv before he shot the other cop. Why was he in that alley?

Oh yeah!
Spoiler:
Brother Mouzone is back!

RoQuEr 11-22-04 07:49 PM

I think We need to have a season 3 discussion thread. I have soo many questions about the inter-relations.

Who thinks McNutty will go back to the bottle?
Is Bubbs really clean?
Who is Marlowe's mentor? We've seen him twice at the rims shop, and once at a pigeon roost. Is it the same guy Omar is always talking to?

McNulty hasn't given up drinking, he's just cut down as far as I can see. Next ep will probably be worse for him, as his date did not go well. With Bubbs I think he is still using, or else he wouldn't ask for the 30 bags, I think he's saving that money for when he does actually get clean. Marlo's mentor is not the blind guy who Omar talks to frequently.

Buck Turgidson 11-22-04 11:48 PM

Pretty sure he's not.

The guy Omar talks to runs what looks more like a diner, and he's blind.

Tommy Ceez 11-23-04 12:29 AM

I think there just showing that all the youngbloods are mentored by kin or friends retired from the game.

Him and Mcnutty were on a food run when they heard the call on the radio and responded.

McNulty and Kima told him to get 30. He had to get enough so that Bodie would have to call in for a resupply. He had to get Bodie to use his phone.

sven 11-23-04 05:07 AM

But he asked if he could keep'em and they said no. He may have just wanted to sell them himself though who knows......

The Wire - 11/28

THE WIRE 35: REFORMATION
Directed by Christine Moore

Brother Mouzone returns to Baltimore on a mission of revenge and casts a wide net in his search for Omar, who has his own plan for vengeance. Colvin manages, for now, to put off a Sun reporter inquiring about Amsterdam, while Burrell delivers news to City Hall, and the reaction is surprisingly mixed. Carver learns how much he doesn't know about good policing, while Pearlman and Daniels plead their case for a new kind of wiretap to Judge Daniel Phelan. Carcetti is about to launch his campaign, but struggles with its effect on his friendship with Council colleague Tony Gray. Stringer falls out of the loop with Avon and is given an ultimatum by Prop Joe and New Day Co-op crews. Cutty's initial approach to teaching boxing ends up alienating the corner boys, while Marlo raises the stakes against the Barksdale gang. Bubbles provides entree to Freamon in an undercover cell-phone hustle.

Only three episodes left

sven 11-28-04 02:25 PM

Sounds like an awesome freakin episode.

movieking 11-28-04 03:16 PM

Only three episodes left? Damn. This season has flown by.

Manco 11-28-04 08:45 PM

WTF?! Rawls????

Buck Turgidson 11-28-04 09:23 PM

^ Yeeeeeah. I really had to laugh at what he called Colvin a few minutes later

And Stringer dropped a dime on Avon. Wow!

This is such a great show. People will look back on it in a few years as a classic and we'll be able to brag about how sharp we were to enjoy it at the time.

Cusm 11-29-04 09:27 AM

I have not caught the first season and may have missed this, but is Omar gay?

sven 11-29-04 09:39 AM

Yep and he likes them young.

Tommy Ceez 11-29-04 11:17 AM

Omar is the gay samurai...truly the best character on any TV show, anywhere.

Fixed.

I love the Colvin character. I'm guessing that's the character the writers use to give their opinions on the state of policing today.

Can you give some more details? My $*#$%ing PVR cut off a large chunk of the show.

sven 11-30-04 01:21 PM

It showed Stringer dialing up the western district. Then later Bunny informs McNutty that he recieved a tip saying Avon had been shot.

Oh and Rawls was in gay bar!
