Help Save Firefly
Hi,
well FOX is at it again. They have a quality show in danger of getting axed because its in the Friday 8e/7c graveyard timeslot. FIREFLY is Joss Whedon's sci-fi/western hybrid show and it gets better every week. If you've never checked it out, please do so and if you have a spare 30 seconds or so please take the time and sign the petition. It may not help but it can't hurt. Here is the link. Thanks.

I agree in helping if shows are worth saving but it seems like lately that people want to save every show that is cancelled.
Farscape deserves to be saved but for the life of me, I just dont think firefly was that good.

I signed it because although the show has not "wowed" me yet, I can see it's potential. Joss has this amazing ability to create some really interesting characters and they are interesting early on in development. I like his work and his storytelling.
I agree that Farscape should be saved as well, as it is also quality TV.
And yet, through it all, crap like Enterprise is still on.

Hi Guys,
buzzing around and I found another online petition that is getting a lot more play than the first one I posted. Spread the love people. Here is the link.

Agree 100%. I'm not on board just yet (and to be fair, I have a backlog on my TiVo), but I see the potential and think it's not only worthy of remaining on the schedule, but more worthy than a lot of other shows clouding the airwaves.
Best of luck to you, Nathan.

I'm glad people are enjoying this, but I bailed after 3 episodes. It's just too much of a western for my taste.
I see potential (although, in fairness, I see potential in a lot of shows), but this just didn't deliver for me. Too bad, it was basically the only new show I was looking forward to this year.

Signed the new one too.
das - you really do have a knack for seeing the quality in shows. I don't always agree with you, but I respect your views and like to "hear" what you have to say about stuff.

Right back at you, and I'm not just saying that to be polite (I mean, come on ... when am I ever polite?

oh one more thing....quick question....I posted this on another DVD message board under the TV section and I was promptly banned for posted spam. Does anyone here think that a plea to sign a petition counts as spam?

Titles are usually a pretty clear indicator of what the thread is about. It's our choice as to whether or not we wish to read them.
I don't consider this spam at all, for this or any other show. If it's a show I'm not interested in or a topic I don't care for, I don't read the thread.

It's amazing how difficult this is for some.

I signed the petition, but I also took the time to write a personal note to FOX as [email protected]. Here's hoping someone actually reads it. I would encourage others to do the same.
----
I wanted to take a moment and let you all know how worried I am about the possible cancellation of "Firefly." This was inspired by the recent airing of "War Stories," another quality episode of this freshman show.
I understand the viewers haven't been there every week. I understand that FOX is a company, with responsibilities to its shareholders. This is a business, and viewers=advertising dollars=profit. I understand all of the logistics involved with making a television show profitable.
However, positive responses to this show among the Internet community have grown each week. I would ask you to check out sites like www.dvdtalk.com, www.aintitcoolnews.com, and www.televisionwithoutpity.com to see the outpouring of support for this show.
The schedule has been confusing, the episodes have been aired out of order, and viewers are hard to come by on Friday nights. But people are enjoying the show. They are taping it and TIVOing it, then discussing it at length afterwards. They might not be Nielsen families, but they are out there. They are invested in the characters and the stories, and are eager to see what the future holds.
FOX has had a run of shows Friday evenings that met with cancellation. Sometimes, that cancellation may have been premature, because a few of those shows had glimmerings of something great. Nothing can be done about that now. But something CAN be done about "Firefly" and I hope you will give the show a chance, at least for a full season, to find it's audience and ultimately prove profitable to your company.
Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Christian Unser

A 100,000 name on-line petition and 5 bucks will get you a cup of coffee at Starbuks. In case you miss the sarcasm, on-line petitions are utterly WORTHLESS.
