Simpsons -- 11/10
Weird, still no Simpsons thread.
Anyhoo I liked it quite a bit. Nearly on par with the Baseball episode for a good ensemble VA cast. Lots of fun. Didn't catch who Lenny Kravitz said was stuffing his crotch though -- who was that guy who ran out? Tuan Jim |
Kenny Logins I believe..
Not to bad an episode my fav part was where Homer said they misspelled guitar on his jacket. |

I really didn't like it much. Not the best episode, and the fact that there was a simpsons repeat before it where fox could have easily placed futurama ticks me off.

I for one thought I would never see another episode with celebrity guests used in an actually funny way. When I first heard all those rock stars would be in it I thought it would be probably as crappy as when they used Britney Spears or N'Sync.
But it was actually funny. Loaded with great one-liners. And the Satan car at the end had me rotfl "I think it's Brian Seltzer." |
The jumping the shark intro..... rotfl
|
The scene with Mick Jagger yelling out his window had me rotfl
"Simmppsssoooonnnnnn!!!" |
I liked the repeat "pot" episode better than the new one. Even though I've seen the "pot" episode, but I still had more laugh than the new one.
Marge: "Honey, you don't have to smoke mary-jay to find Burns funny. Imagine Burns naked." Homer: "Aww, Aww.....!!" rotfl rotfl |
"Who knew Disco Stu was so complex?"
Monkey Trauma Center -- that was pretty funny. |
It was a pretty good episode - there were worse episode.
Why did they have Brian Setzer on? He kind of paled in comparison to the other guest stars, I think he was in a band in the 80s, had an orchestra and one hit in the late 90s, and a Christmas song once. Is he as good as the other guest stars? |
the confession of the taxidriver is pretty funny.

Originally posted by caiman The season premiere of Futurama was on just before that first Simpsons episode. If fox has that buffer zone of a free 30 minutes at 7:30, I see no reason why they should risk futurama on a 7 time slot on game days when they know games will pretty much always go over. |
Originally posted by Jackskeleton You must be on the west coast.. you were lucky, east coast got no futurama because football went over.. who would have ever thought that a football game would not end at 7:00 -rolleyes- If fox has that buffer zone of a free 30 minutes at 7:30, I see no reason why they should risk futurama on a 7 time slot on game days when they know games will pretty much always go over. |
I loved Homer's "Out of my, nerdlinger!" to Elvis Costello....
|
I got Futurama and I am in Ohio. There was no 4pm game on Fox in my area. Although, for the 1st 5 mins of Futurama, I had no picture. Sound only. Not sure if that was DTV related or our local channel.

Futurama was on in Pittsburgh too.
|
I thought this episode was great. Just shows the Simpsons is still as original and fresh as ever. Will this show EVER die???
|
I thought it was an above-average episode. I lol several times.
Elvis Costello, when Homer knocked his glasses off: "Ah, my image!" Homer, to Lisa: "Oh honey, marriage is like a coffin, and each child is like a nail. But as coffin's go..." rotfl |
Mick Jagger strut school:
Strut, strut, strut...School marm....everybody's naughty and....freeze finish! And the Keith Richard obstacle course. You have to be in top physical condition! I thought it WAS on par with the old baseball episode, though I haven't seen that one in a while. Definitely better than most episodes of the last few seasons. There have been a few that were just plain bad, but you know they are going to come up with a gem like this eventually, so you gotta keep watching! |
Mick Jagger to Lenny Kravitz: Don't you have a crotch to stuff? rotfl
This is one of the better episodes I've seen in a long time. |
not a great episode by any means. It was funny at parts, and boring at others.

I agree that this was the best "guest voices" ep since Burns' baseball team. Nearly fell out of my chair at Keith Richards' "OU
SAID"AT?!?" Another indicator was that my girlfriend was laughing a lot too, and she's not too huge of a fan . I liked at the end how they showed all the musicians having fun doing their lines, I think the mood carried over. |
I liked how the weather lady yammered in front of the map, telling us that tornados were touching down all over my city.
Oh wait, tornado warnings pre-empted the Simpsons this week. Dammit. |
I thought it was a great episode.
Mick: "Homer, it's only Rock'n'roll camp." Homer: "But I like it." |
Homer "driving" outside Moe's...rotfl
|
Anyone happen to have some of the Tom Petty quotes from this ep?
|
please tell me someone taped the futurama episode because of damn football i missed it.

This weeks show was better than I have seen in a long time. I loved the whole Taxicab conversations. Who in the world could possible hate drunk Homer that is the best Homer there is! This had very many funny one liners I still crazy about this show after all these years.
|
I was actually rather surprised, the previews before the show reminded me of the common "Get special guests for the show before it dies off to build ratings" scheme, and then I remembered the atrocious N'Sync episode.
Luckily, they took care of a lot of the content in the proper manner, and it was entertaining for the most part, far far better than expected. |
I didn't think it was all that funny, lots of quotables then. Of course, I missed the taxicab confessions thing and that might have made the episode better. Still, funnier than almost any other show.
|
Except for the homer 'driving', I thought it was rather poor, the whole music camp didn't do it for me.
|
Originally posted by Tuan Jim I already told you in the other thread -- Futurama showed at 7:00 as scheduled (at least on Fox 50 in NC). Get over it. Tuan Jim It didn't show in florida because of the football game as for the person who said that they want to make a profit. hmmm maybe if fox actually put futurama in a time slot that wasn't eaten away with football. You can't put a show in a time slot no one will watch, not advertise for it and expect people to watch it. Fox gave up on futurama without even giving it a chance. pretty sad. |
Simpsons and King of the Hill continue to amaze me with making solid shows after being on ther air for so long. Interesting that Keith Richards was actually coherent for this show. It was also nice to see the outtakes of the musicians recording their dialogue.
|
The episode was okay for Scully-written/produced ep. I did enjoy the guest stars and I thought the episode was a marked improvment over last weeks disappointing THOH XIII.
