They made me wait until November for this??? It wan't bad, it just wasn't anything great.
Hoping that next week's season premiere is better......

Quite honestly, while I thought this episode was okay it PALED in comparison to the repeat FOX aired at 7:30 - "I Am Furious Yellow".
"Angry dad, ROCKS! Dern, dern, nern-nern-nern-ner-nerrrrr!"

I thought one of the better lines was during the gun episode when Homer is giving up his gun and says to it, "You'll be shooting angels in heaven now."

The put it on after Halloween because of the World Series, although I think they should've showed it in the middle of the week on one of the days a game wasn't being played.
They definitely went a little over the top, but since it's the Halloween episode you never really know what to expect. I was a little surprised when Homer started shooting clones who said they knew their way home.
I'm still trying to figure out whether having Peter from the Family Guy in there was a jab at Fox for cancelling a show they liked or a jab at The Family Guy, accusing them of making a Homer clone.

Personally, I think a big problem was that Fox aired incessant promos for the episode thereby killing a lot of potential laughs. We've been seeing promos for this episode for what? 3 weeks now? And at least once per commercial break? You have to wonder if we would have found this episode more humerous if Fox had a been a bit more judicious with promo content and air time.

I thought this year's Treehouse was great! The Halloween episode usually does go over the top for violence, in at least 1 storyline, so hundreds of Homer clones falling to their deaths in the ravine seemed par for the course. What I did find surprising is that their seemed to be a lack of blood in this episode. I don't remember seeing any of it, even when Flanders' head was chainsawed off.
I thought the violence was fairly mild this year, actually. Much less violent than the story a few years ago with the school staff going cannibal and butchering/eating all of the students, and much less grotesque then whent he fog turned them all inside out and they sang a song while being gnawed on by Santa's Little Helper.
This was the first one in a few years that made me laugh in each storyline. I give it

One last thing: For those who said this year's wasn't scary enough... Has anyone actually ever been scared by a Treehouse of Horror? I don't think I've ever seen anything scary on it, I've always thought the show was meant to be comedic, not frightening.

I liked the ghost of Maude at the begining, I wish they'd have used her more.
I did like Moe's comment on going back in time and picking up some cave-babes.
Episode rating B-

I enjoyed the first segment, thought the 2nd wasn't all that great, but thought the third had some killer lines. The "Be careful, he might sniff your crotch. Oh I've been around Scotsmen before" lines and the milking Flanders thing just had me rolling.

I agree with Mordred on this one- the first segment was great, just the sight of all those Homers with their mouths open was a great visual gag. Didn't care for the 2nd, and the 3rd had some terrific animation and good lines. Just seeing each of the characters in their "animal" state was good stuff. Anyone remember what animal Otto was?

When Homer went to milk Flanders and Flanders let out that hysterical "Ooooohhh" we all were on the floor dying. Hilarious.
Some points I agree with.
1) FOX advertised, and therefore ruined, this show to hell. I watched the WS games and just seeing how all the Homer clones died in the commercial ticked me off.
2) Also, that Family Guy placement HAS to be a jab at the Family Guy people. The Simpsons writers placed Peter with all the Homer clones (and could've placed him in any random scene), so they we're probably claiming how Peter is just a wannabe Homer or whatever. Still, funny.
3) It was a somewhat funny episode...how 'bout Lou "having his enormous genitals"? Pretty freakin' funny line. But still, there have been MUCH better. The recent one with Pierce Brosdan was funny as hell.

All of this year's viewers tuned in.
BTW, everyone else know about the Simpson's Creepy Classics at Burger King? I just ran across one tonight. Comes with Kid's Meals. I went over to Ebay and snagged a set for $11.50. Here's a photo of them:

I didn't see Peter being a jab at Family Guy, but it could have been. I thought they were just having fun putting in weird Homers (I loved the Tracy Ullmann (sp?) Homer) and figured Peter would fit right in.
I also didn't think the episode was that funny (especially the second segment), but there was some very good stuff with the clones, and I also thought that just seeing all the characters drawn in animal form was a lot of fun, just not outright funny in most cases. I've been watching my season 2 DVD, though, and so my Simps-o-meter might be a bit skewed by the kickassedness of those.
I guess I lucked out by not watching Fox much, so I hadn't seen any commercials for it. But I try to avoid all those anyway, since they pretty much ALWAYS give away lots of jokes, plot twists, etc, that would work much better in their original context.

We watched my old videotapes of Halloween Specials 1 - 6 over the last month. I didn't even bother saving the tape of this episode. Not very funny, and I never saw any of the spoiler promos.
