Amazing Race (10/30)

I missed the last portion of Amazing Race due to local station pre-emption, so I had to wait until CBS updated their web site.

And, just for fun, I'm indicating which team ended up in last place in previous legs.

Next week on THE AMAZING RACE:
Spoiler:
* Facing a 300-foot drop, Flo becomes hysterical.
* On the roads through southern Spain, several Teams disable their cars by mistakenly filling up on the wrong fuel, forcing desperate measures to get back on the road.
* One team passes another, broken down by the side of the road, and refuses to help.

Once again I voted for "Team One-Foot-in-the-Grave."

Next weeks episode looks boss. We were cracking up over the preview.

This season has so many blunders and accidents. It's great. I voted for Teri and Ian too. They annoy like no other.

Its got to be old folks. I think Teri is going to kill Ian before they get halfway to the pit stop anyway.

I can't believe these folks don't know they are driving Diesels. They are loud as hell!

Sadly, if she hasn't stood up to him for the last 30 years, she isn't going to start now.

--Didn't Eve look like death warmed over at end? They had no business being in the game.

--Glad to see Andre and Damon showing some personality. I'm still really underwhelmed by these two.

--John Vito and Jill are quickly becoming my favorites. I wasn't into the whole lovey-dovey thing at first, but they've grown on me. They work great together, don't seem bogged down by any alliance, John Vito is wicked strong and she's a little hottie.

--Flo needs to be in more aquatic events.

--Ken and Gerard are also moving along nicely, but I don't see it lasting until the final 3.

--Poor Michael. Kathy has some mood swings in her I'm sure he's NEVER seen. She's pretty hot too.

--My final 3 are D&D, John Vito and Jill and Aaron and Arianne. (I assume A&A will get the Fast Forward next week)

I don't think A&A will go for the Fast Forward. There's only 1/2 hour separating them from Ken & Gerard in first. They should be able to make up that time without using the FF.

I really hope that Teri & Ian get eliminated. He has to be one of the most obnoxious creatures to ever be cast on a reality show.

Teri and Ian gotta go. At least Ian does. He is worst than Team Guido.

If I read correctly, the Country Music Awards are on CBS next week, meaning AR is pre-empted. Can someone verify this? Or will it air a different date? Or am I all together screwed up?

I know you all have been dissing on Ian and saying how you much can't stand the guy, but dang you gotta give POPS some PROPS for the performance he put in tonight. Did you see how he kicked butt in the repelling task, out performing guys who are like 10-20 years younger than him. The dude was like "Gabe Walker"(Sly Stallone's character in Cliffhanger) the way he was scaling down that cliff.

The man was on a mission in tonight's episode. And when the car broke down, he took matters into his own hands and used his ingenuity to get his team back on the road and back in the race, whereas Michael basically gave up on the race and carried his sorry butt back to the comforts of a posh hotel room and Aaron wallowed in his own tears on the side of the road until luckily some cops came along and offered them assistance.

You know, there is a method to Ian's madness and he has been hanging in there longer than you all have been thinking and wishing for, so who knows he might just surpise you all again in the next episode and not be the team eliminated.

The diesel vehicle thing was the best thing ever in TAR. Makes them actually have to use their head and pay attention. I hope they do more stuff like this in the future.

I do not know what was funnier, Flo crying as she started down the cliff, or Aaron pathetically whining and sobbing on a curb about how humiliated he was. Sorry Aaron, the humuliation wasn't the car breaking down, it was the pathetic display you put on later. Priceless.

i cannot believe that 4 of the 8 teams put the wrong fuel in. I realise that in the us not many cars take Diesel but in europe somehting like 30% do. Its way cheaper and some diesels are now as fast as petrol cars.

and how about the cameraman getting a nice shot of it saying diesel on the fuel filler cover without giving it away, if I was a cameraman I would have had to leave as I would have been laughing too much at the stoopidity.

Teri was way impressed that the hat was able to repair the car. I think the biggest issue was that teams did not seem to realise what they had done, well mike and kathy in any case.

But I think they got a lot out of the race in terms of there new found happiness. to them

I'm wondering if this was intentional on the part of the producers or just a "Happy Accident." It's not like they were mislead in any way...the DIESEL was right there on the gas cap.

One of my jobs when I was in college was driving a van that ran on diesel. IIRC, the nozzle was a lot smaller and I couldn't have filled the tank with unleaded even if I wanted to. I guess this isn't true in Europe.

What was interesting is how differently the teams approached this unexpected problem. I'll agree with monkyskunk on this one...Ian really rallied to solve the problem here. Of course, if he LISTENED to his wife every once in a while this never would have happened. She's not his valet...she's his partner in this game. The guy is a royal jerk...I hope he stays on the show long enough for somebody to finally haul off and slug him.

"Team 911" needs to come up with a better strategy than "Follow the Leader." That's only going to take them so far. At this point, I would say just about everybody has a shot at winning it all...except them.

Count me in with everybody else that was impressed with Ian. I thought for sure that he was going to blow them up by trying to drain the fuel himself. I though that if you put the wrong fuel in you had to do some kind of engine cleaning routine or something? Guess not. It was good to see his wife standing up to him this episode.

I like how fat gay man zipped right past Team 911 on the cliff. Team Baldy continues to impress.

Does anybody else think that Flo is bipolar? She was totally depressed, ready to quit, whining/crying in the garage while their truck was getting fixed. Then the truck started and it was like she won the lottery and could conquer the world. I kept thinking of that scene in Airplane where everybody on the plane takes turns slapping the hysterical woman. GET A HOLD OF YOURSELF FOR GOD'S SAKE! She needs a good shaking.

I was really hoping Aaron would get the boot this week. That guy is as bad as Flo when it comes to holding up under pressure. I don't care if you ARE gay, you are still a man! That shot of Arienne consoling him while he cryed on the curb was pathetic.

If you put Diesel into a petrol car then yes, as diesel will clog up the fuel injectors, its thicker than petrol(gas)

However petrol into a diesel is not the end of the world, and indeed props to Ian for sorting it out himself. The rappelling down could not have been tough, I mean we all see so many people doing it, just push out and drop. Easy roadblock.

What was the smelly stuff that one of the clues were in last night (the roadblock, I believe)? I missed when they said what it was.

Great episode.

I also loved the shot of the diesal sticker inside the gas tank; great camera work.

Aaron was pathetic with his breakdown on the side of the road. He definitately does not deserve to be still in the race.

As much as I loathe Ian, it was pretty cool how he problem-solved the situation and got the car back on the road himself. Teri had this nice look of adoration for him as they drove away.

I was totally getting frustrated by Michael and Kathy just giving up. They seemed like they wanted a nice bed to sleep on instead of moving on. If they hadn't been stranded next to the hotel I wonder if they might've been better off.

Aaron lucked out they got stranded on the highway where the cops saved their asses.

I hope, for Zach's sake, Flo gets something to stabalize her wild mood swings.

I gotta root for the two sets of brothers.

i frickin' hate my vcr. i need a tivo.

i live in indiana. we live in our own time zone where we never switch times. my vcr decided that it was daylight savings time and switched. admittedly, i was dumb and didn't check, but it taped presidio med instead.

so i missed a great episode... argh. (i also missed the premiere episode this year due to a similar problem...)

did anybody get booted? or was it a non-elimination?

also, does anybody fear for the future of this show since it is always in 4th place? i think cbs should run AR4 during the summer and make this show a summer show. it would get a much larger audience... the audience it deserves! (this is the only reality show that i can stand...)
