The One & Only "The Bachelor" Thread
There doesn’t seem to be too much interest in this show in here, so I just decided to make this a One & Only thread instead of a weekly one.
Damn, I love this show. :D Geez, I hate Christi…how she even made it past the first cut is beyond me. Aaron hit the nail on the head when he said she had a “fatal attraction” thing going on. :lol: I don’t think it was that big of a deal that Aaron gave his cell phone number to Helene. I think the other girls (i.e., Kyla and Shannon) blew it out of proportion. He probably just wanted Helene to stay and gave her his number so she could call him so that he could talk her out of leaving the show. Helene and Aaron’s one-on-one date was nice. Very romantic and very “Pretty Woman”-ish. Aaron and Brooke’s one-on-one date was okay, but didn’t seem to have quite the romanticism as the date with Helene. Aaron sensed that Brooke’s father has had a rough past and it’s good that he didn’t force her into talking about it. Just coincidence that Kyla and Shannon, the two girls that gave Helene the most grief about the phone number thing, didn’t get roses tonight? :confused: Hmm…maybe, maybe not. Aaron’s diary from episode 3: I had a few hours alone with Ryan and Melissa, after they had spent a few days with the ladies over at their villa, to find out what they thought about everybody. Ryan and Melissa didn't sway me in any way. They really just confirmed what I had been thinking about everybody. They saw right through a couple of the ladies that were totally kissing up to them. Those were opinions that I had already formed based on my initial experiences. According to Ryan and Melissa, Christy was somewhat possessive of their time, and they saw right through it. She was trying to come across as this very even keel, very levelheaded person, but they really weren't impressed with their time with Christy. The California Adventure date was interesting. Christy was on that date, and I had given us a second chance to get to know each other better, and it just wasn't there. Heather from Texas was also on that date, and I didn't have a vibe toward her. Heather from California was on that date, and I really like her. She's a cutie. She has a nice personality and a lot going for her. And Angela was also on the date. We got to spend some nice one on one time, took a little romantic walk together, and that was the turning point for her. That was when she said, "Oh Aaron, I'm glad we got to spend this time together, I can see now why the other girls like you." We went from there. At the third invitation night Heather from California came to me outside, and she was very indifferent. She wasn't into me like I was her, and she said a couple things that later she admittedly regretted saying. I didn't want to give a rose to somebody who is not totally into me and this whole project. So I decided at that point in time not to give the rose to her, and I gave it to Heather from Texas instead. The three-person beach date with Gwen, Kyla, and Hayley was a lot of fun. They all tried surfing and proved to me how gregarious and adventurous they are. I really got to know Kyla on that date. We had a nice walk along the beach together, and she's just really surprising, she has been a dark horse. Being a Mormon I just figured she would be so much more conservative than she really is, and she's outgoing. I've been very intrigued by her. Hayley, on the other hand, has the respect of all the ladies in the villa. She has the respect of my friends. Everybody speaks so highly of her. For whatever reason, I don't have that impression of her. She's admittedly very shy around me and not herself where she wishes she could open up to me. And Gwen, we've had some pretty good dates together. The hot air balloon date was great. The other time we spent at Del Mar together was a lot of fun, so I really enjoyed spending that time with Gwen because she's a sweetheart and we have a lot in common. Although I really liked Kyla a lot and was enjoying our time together, I just didn't have a sense of a chemistry that we would need to go that next step in a relationship, and so that's why at that point in time I decided not to give her a rose. Christi and I, in my opinion, don't have much in common. She is very, very emotional, and on more than one occasion she has had tears in her eyes when she's talking to me, and I don't understand why she's upset. I'm a very sensitive person, but I'm not emotional like that, and I don't think we have that much in common. |

I wanted him to pick Christi just to see how psycho she would get. I loved his talk on how he just couldn't understand how she could already be in love with him. :lol: It would've been interesting seeing Christi make the cut...but if she had, I would've thrown something at my TV. :D She's gonna have a hard time getting dates in real life after that tirade. If I'm not mistaken, she's going to be making the morning TV show circuit tomorrow. Oh boy.
I actually thought Kyla was pretty hot...streaks, tan, fake boobs and all. :D:p Hmm...an Amish dominatrix...-eek- As far as odds go... I'd say Helene has the edge. She's attractive and it was obvious from the time that she and Aaron were on the train that he liked her. I'd give her <b>3:1</b>. Brooke's tricky because Aaron obviously likes her, but her dad's in prison and that might hurt her chances. I think Aaron could overlook that fact, though. Aaron was probably a little perturbed that she hesitated at the rose ceremony. <b>5.5:1</b>. Gwen is nice. She's attractive and seems to have a good head on her shoulders. They also spent some quality time on the balloon ride and sucked face. I'd say <b>7:1</b>. Heather...I think Aaron has sensed that he should take everything she says with a grain of salt after she badmouthed Brooke when Heather and Aaron were on the Disneyland ride. Heather comes off as a nice person, but I think she's probably really sneaky. I think Aaron was taken aback by her sitting on his lap during his confessional because she seemed kind of drunk and that was probably her desperation attempt to get a rose at the ceremony. Frankly, I'm surprised he gave her a rose. <b>15:1</b>. Angela's my dark horse. She's cute and seems like a nice person. She seems a little quiet, though, so she's going to have to be a bit more extroverted to stand out in this crowd. She's also from Missouri, where Aaron is from, so that might give her a slight edge. He also called her to wish her a happy birthday when he was on a group date, though frankly, I didn't read too much into that. <b>18:1</b>. Hayley hasn't made much of an impression on Aaron (or me). This show is addictive. It is amazing how the women are getting all bent out of shape over a guy. It's not like a guaranteed marriage or wealth or anything. Nonetheless, I will continue to watch. |

I personally vote for either Helene or Angela. Yes, the girls are influenced by the whole fantasy aspect of the show and going on these fantastical romantic dates. I think they realize that and try to separate themselves from that, when thinking of Aaron. I don't know if you watched the show last year, but the Bachelor and Amanda didn't get engaged partly because they wanted to date outside of the show and in real life circumstances before committing themselves to each other. They realized they had been dating in a fantasy setting and wanted to see if they felt the same way about each other when they were in the real world. If I were a woman, I'd probably get swept up in all that romantic stuff, too. :p Aaron probably has the means to do some of that stuff (like the plane ride and dinner), but I don't think he'd have the pull to rent the Hollywood Bowl or Disneyland Adventures. I thought the exact same thing when Christi was crying and declaring she wasn't an emotional basketcase. :lol: I have to admit that she was certainly very entertaining. Zeus, I like your odds and it's hard to argue with your logic. I've never done too well at these pools because I always go for the dark horse and this show is no different.
My top 3 are Helene (no surprise), Gwen, and Heather. All 3 are mature, intelligent knockouts that are out to win. I think Brooke is on her way out very soon. Very young, very emotional and packing deep family baggage. Angela being from Mizzou can be both good and bad. As for Aaron himself, I'll try and say this and still remain cool, but I think he brings a lot to the table. I can only dream of the action I would have received if when I was single I could fly a plane, play classical piano, vp of bank and all the perks that come with that, good looking, great shape, yada yada. Now, after all this guilty pleasure talk, I need to watch a good DVD to purge my system. |

I think he messed up on his choices last round, but I think he definitely made good choices this time. I definitely would put Helene, Gwen, and Brooke in the top-3. However, you have to wonder about Brooke hesitating. Because of that and Brooke's young age, I think Helene and Gwen are the favorites - and they are my favorites of the remaining women. :thumbsup: to Christy getting the boot. She should have been booted last time. |

I like the results so far.
I disliked Heather from the beginning so I'm glad to see her cut. Her speech in the end was funny to watch...mainly because she was highly emotional and crying. I think she is just as psychotic as the other girl (christy?) Gwen and Aaron hit it off, but again, it was probably because of the whole fantasy date that they were in. Cinderalla? c'mon. I don't know much about Angela...she always seems like she is on Prozac. Brooke IS young, but what kind of guy would not want a girl younger than him? About Helene, she doesn't play games like the other girls and she doesn't suck up or say stupid things like how wonderful he is, etc. She is the smartest of the bunch. think Helene will take home the final rose If not, Aaron must be gay. |
Well, my darkhorse Heather got the boot tonight (yes, I realize I was the only one that liked her) and I was little disappointed to see Haylee go.
Of the 4 left, I'm most intrigued by Angela (that was a great Prozac line, Foo) and Helene, but I would worry about Helene's maintenance level. Hey, that brings up an interesting thought; of the 4 remaining, which would be the highest maintenance? I vote Helene, Angela, Brooke, Gwen. Next week looks bizarre, I especially like the comment from the dad that said her sister is a marine and if Aaron hurts her, he will kill him, very nice. |

Well Angela's home date was pretty bad. Or at least it looked that way on TV. Her roommate is psycho and her family didn't seem at all interested in Aaron. It was funny when Angela was in the limo giving her testimonial and she said that she wished she wasn't the "cold-hearted bitch" that she was. I kept thinking to myself, "Get away from that damn roommate of yours! It's her fault!" :lol: Angela seems like a nice girl to me, though.
Brooke's family seemed like a typical southern family...very nice and quite religious. That shrine to Alabama was incredible....and crazy. Helene's family was cool. I think Aaron was a little uncomfortable at first, but he seemed to get along well with her brothers. Gwens' family was nice, too. They seemed to really like Aaron. Her parents sounded like they had Chicago accents...which is probably blasphemous for me to say since they live in Buffalo. I couldn't help but think of the SNL skit with George Wendt & company and thinking of "Da Bears" when I heard her parents talk. :lol: I still think Aaron likes Helene the most...but I'm sensing that she might actually be the next to go because she sort of puts up these walls when she's around him. I get the feeling that she's not totally comfortable with him yet, so that may hurt her chances. She needs to either tell him that she really likes him or do a better job of showing it if she wants to stay. Personally, of the 3, I'd boot Gwen next but I don't think Aaron will boot her. Nice post Zeus. I agree, very easy episode to predict. I wonder if he didn't bring Angela along just to have an easy out at this juncture. Helene seems to be filling the role of Shannon from last season, I am starting to not dig her as much.
I wonder if he will pick Gwen or Brooke based on the idea that they do not crucify him for what he has done with the other women on their dates? I'm sure Helene will turn on the bitch switch about the overnight dates next show. I guess I'm digging Gwen the most right now, but none are bad. BTW, I don't know if this made the board yet, but my wife just showed me an article on the last bachelor, Alex. He dumped whatshername right after Bachelor2 began to pursue (you guessed it) a career in acting. According to the article, they were never very close after the show and he did not want her to move out with him. Does it get more lame? |
i hate to admit it but this show is a guilty pleasure of mine. Why watch the west wing when you can watch a quality show like the bachelor. then again if i was the bachelor all i would be doing is trying to sleep with them all forget marriage.
Now seriously, this show could be really bad but the bachelor is done in a way that the show seems as classy as it possibly could given the circumstances. they chose as the bachelor a totally nice guy who unlike me behaves in an extremely classy manner. I am not sure how the show will work with a bachelorette, especialley kristi from the first show who said to the host after he said to her all these guys know from the first show you said you never had an orgasm with a man before. she replied i know, we should line up all 25 guys and have a competition. real clasy. if a guy said that he would be crucified. on the 3 girls remaining, they all have flaws gwen is hot porn str type and seems super nice but she is a little weird looking forehead. brooke is only 22 and as we all know by experience when your 22 you reaaly do not know what you want. i think she was engaged before. but she seems like such a sweety, but that albama room would have me more worried than the fact her father is in jail. Helena is from jersey so automatically she is cool, but she is definetely protecting herself and i can not say i blame her. she is like shannon from the first show but not as annoying. Helena is being smart and asking questions that should be asked but they are difficult to handle when your dating a bunch of other women. I do not think she is into aaron nearly as much as gwen and brooke and I think that will go against her in the end. the girl i liked the most on the show was hayle, she was a sweety, a little clumsy and dorky but that made her all the more cute. |

The comparison of Helene to last year's Shannon is pretty good. Though Helene doesn't seem nearly as bitchy as Shannon did. I think it's kind of good that Helene asks so many questions...it shows Aaron that she cares about what's going on. She definitely doesn't seem to have fallen for him the way Gwen or Brooke have, though, so I'm thinking that Aaron still sees her as a challenge. That's why I said in a previous post a week or two ago that I think he'll try extra hard to impress her. I think he'd want to be with her the most, but I think he realizes that he's going to have to work extra hard for her. The question is....does he want to work to get Helene, or is he going to go the "easy" (not meant as a comment on sexual promiscuity) route by choosing Brooke or Gwen?
I think Brooke's family's love affair with NASCAR would make me more worried than the Alabama shrine. When that one guy gave the analogy that NASCAR was like fine wine, I busted a gut. :lol: Only in the deep south would you hear NASCAR being compared to a fine wine. :lol: Ozzy, regarding Alex, last year's bachelor, I had a feeling his relationship with Amanda wouldn't last. He's an idiot. I would have totally picked Trista over Amanda. The only reason he picked Amanda was because he was fixated on her breasts. But I guess after he got what he wanted from Trista (the poontang), he decided he'd go after Amanda. Dumbass. I think it's hilarious that a lot of people thought he was gay. :lol: Of the 3 girls, I think Gwen is the only safe bet to make it to the final round. I hate to stereotype but I defy you to find a Bama resident (born and bred there) who does not worship NASCAR and the Crimson Tide. The only exceptions would be those who attended Auburn. Foo, I agree with you on Haylee. I was just digging her when she got the boot, I think she would have been the tastiest choice. WOW. -eek- While I was watching the rose ceremony, I thought for sure that Brooke was going to be ousted. I thought Aaron might think that she wasy too emotionally involved or something, but I guess not.
I stated before that if it were me, I would have booted Gwen next but I didn't think that Aaron would. Here's what he had to say in his diary on the official website. It should give more insight into why he chose Helene and Brooke: The first two exotic dates were awesome. I feel great right now, and I'm getting ready for the third exotic date with Brooke. If I had to make a decision right now, I would give Helene and Gwen a rose, but Brooke's a sweetheart and I wanted to give us a fair chance as well when we go to Hawaii. Going into the sixth rose ceremony I had one last request. I had a small favor to ask of Chris, the host. I needed five minutes with each of the women. I just wanted to see them one last time because I was struggling with the decision. It was tormenting me. He granted my wish, and I saw Helene first and we had a nice little conversation, and I asked her a couple very serious questions. I had already made up my mind. I knew that Helene was going to receive a rose. So, it was between Brooke and Gwen in my mind. I talked to Brooke next. She came in and she really just put herself out there. She told me, and not only then but also on her video message, that she thought I was making a mistake if I didn't choose her, and that I was making a mistake that both of us would have to pay for the rest of our lives, and those were pretty bold words. I know it was tough for her to put herself out there in that way, and that meant a lot to me. Gwen, on the other hand, came in and she just didn't seem that much in the moment. She came across very indifferent to me. I don't know if it was because she was confident that she was going to receive a rose because our exotic date went so well, or if maybe she had decided I might not be the one for her, I don't know. That was the turning point for Gwen, and that conversation, coupled with the video message, just wasn't very dynamic. It just didn't seem like she was that interested in me. So I decided to give Brooke a rose instead and give us a chance to get to know each other even better. Brooke: 52.75% Helene: 49.74% Unfortunately, the poll doesn't say how many people have voted. Anyway, I'd like to say that, in my opinion, Aaron is much more likeable than last year's bachelor, Alex. Aaron just seems more sincere and less horny. Next week's preview looks good. It should be fun to watch. For others who may be reading this thread who don't watch the previews for upcoming episodes because they don't like knowing what's coming up, please include any possible discussion of next week's show in spoilers so as not to ruin any surprise for them. And last but not least, here's my prediction for who Aaron is going to choose...I don't have any "insider" info so don't worry about this spoiling anything for you. I think he is in love with Helene (since he said he loved one of the 2 remaining ladies to Gwen). This may be off-base but I think he really liked Gwen a lot - more than Brooke and he let her go at this stage in order to make his final choice (which I think will be Helene) easier. Had he kept Gwen around, I believe that he worried about being so deeply conflicted btwn her and Helene.
I am really surprised at the results of that poll. I think he and Helene are a far better match and he seems more into her than Brooke. |

I don't agree with your reasoning of why he chose Brooke over Gwen, though. Here's another excerpt from a secret diary I found: Although I felt a deep connection to both Gwen and Brooke, I could not overlook the fact that Gwen's forehead was huge. I could pictured Gwen and I being a married couple, but whenever thoughts of children popped into my head, I pictured our children wearing hats for the rest of their lives to hide their foreheads. |
I have been on the Helene bandwagon for a few weeks now, but now she gets on my nerves. Too controlling and insecure, plus, I don't believe she really likes him, just wants to win.
Polar opposites are left. Brooke=fragile, emotional, young and needs to be taken care of. Makes a man feel strong and needed. Helene=strong, older, self-sufficient and tough. Poses a challenge, but is she worth it? Aaron, IMHO is a guy who DOESN'T really like a challenge. He wants someone who thinks he is all that and a bag. He is insecure as hell and looks to the women to convince him that they are really into him. "I turned on Gwen because she really didn't seem so into me." I am thinking he will go for Brooke. Is there any relevance that he has always picked Brooke last for the past 3-4 shows? Maybe he likes seeing her sweat, but always knows she is getting a rose..... Now, I backed Justin, so I have a history of being wrong, but even though Helene is hot, I gotta go with Brooke. She strokes his ego and makes him feel like a real man. Not a guy who works at daddy's bank..... |
