The New Twilight Zone 10/9/02 - the first non-awful episode???

I had all but given up on this new and sorry revival of the Twilight Zone. I have to say, though, tonight's episode was not half bad.

The one with Ethan Embry (spelling?) was pretty good, in my opinion. Enough twists to keep you interested, but no absurd twists to discredit the episode. Also, the editing style used in the episode was quite unique, I've never seen a TV show cut in such a style.

The second half was decent. The woman puts on glasses to see her dead husband's final moments and reveals who the killer is. The teleplay offered a decent enough ending, but the acting and directing just did nothing to involve me. Not a bad episode, and definately one of the top ones thus far for this lame series.

If the rest of the episodes are at least this good, I'll remain a viewer. If this week was just a fluke, and they serve up crap like the Shannon Elizabeth episode, I'm gone.

What did the rest of you think about this week?

Agreed. I guess we are the only two still watching it though

Although I guess depending upon how picky you want to be there were a couple of errors in the first story. Still pretty good overall and both have been the best so far.

I had totally missed it until last night the first installment seemed allright. I liked Forrest Whitaker's presence as well I will tune in again.

The ratings are pretty abysmal on the show. It loses to every other network, including the WB.

I'm really surprised it's still on the air. Perhaps they're giving it time to grow a fanbase. Good stories would be a nice start.

For some reason, these dont feel like 'Twilight Zone' eps to me. The 80's series had the feel, but with this new one.... i dont know.

Last week was the first one I missed. I'd add it to Tivo but AR is opposite, so no dice.

For me they are too 'watered down' it seems or not taking any risks. But the dialogue writing is pretty bad and the story lines are alright. I think the b/w series took those risks (even if it was un-PC) and the twist was more shocking. Maybe we're not as easily surprised anymore. With the Forrest Whittaker (his delivery is doing absolutely nothing for me) and then the telling of the tale, it just plays out too passive.

I did enjoy the 80's New TZ and they had some great bizarre story angles.

I'm sad I missed the latest ep--it sounds more promising!

For me, it was the complete lack of presence that Forrest Whitaker had. See, Rod not only had this. . . . poetic, almost lyrical way of speaking, he could command the screen like no other. The dark suit, the way he smoked (one of the few folks in hollywood who could make that nasty habit look damned sexy) - it all added to the quiet, professional edge.

Forrest, on the other hand, just doesnt do it for me.

(It doesnt help that the stories have all sucked, too)

Maybe they need to have Forrest stand with a lit cigarette in his hand as he talks to the camera. Don't ever smoke it, just let us see those little wisps of smoke.

All the episodes were great except with the one with Shannon Elizabeth
