What a great episode. I really like this show now; it's coming into its own. Very well done plot (though the touchscreen 'order' system was a little weird to me). But the scene at the end was really very creepy/cool.

i liked the ending. I hope star fleet hasnt made a new enemy...!

BTW some people last week were groaning that they 'happend' upon a repair station after getting the damage. Well its more realistic because they did put out a distress call for 3 days.

catch that Roxann Dawson was the computer voice?
Spoiler:
replicators
got introduced, and T'Pol had already seen them in use with another race

when the Tellarites were mentioned I was hoping to see their new and improved makeup

A 3 day distress call makes it "more realistic"? Um, ok...

I did think it was cool that Roxann Dawson was the voice and she directed. And I agree about the ending.

Other than that...Blah. I'm not necessarily an Enterprise basher, but next ep looks even worse.

That repair station was an early borg! It needed organic parts to run, it keep making demands, like comply, and so on.

Yes, I think most of us caught the Borg reference. Not very subtle. But then B&B rarely are these days.

Aren't the Borg supposed to be more sophisticated than that even during Ent's time period? Guinan's people should have already been wiped out by them at that point, or close to it.

Eric F--I agree. I thought they should have stopped after they pulled the cords out of Mayweather. I didn't like how they had a big discussion about the technology that had been infused into him. Wasn't needed.

But if the Borg ever do show up, I'm outta there.

Season 3 cliffhanger ... you heard it here first.

Damn. I was off by over a full season.

To be fair, this was definitely one of the better episodes of the show's run. I don't think Sussman & Strong are the greatest writing team, but they clearly can tell a better story than B&B, even though they're holdovers from the final season of Voyager. Combine that with Roxie Dawson, who is proving to be a very capable director, and you get a pretty soild episode. It shows that there's potential in the cast and story if you could just get those two jackasses to keep their hands off. If I recall, the next 4 episodes are stained by them ... yay.

The Enterprise has ALWAYS magically repaired itself in the past, no matter how bad the damage. They finally do an ep on it getting repaired. I should be the last one to suggest this, but, give them a break, already!

I’m still waiting for the first crew death. I think B&B have mandated that they don’t want to use the Red Shirts because that’s a dead [pardon the pun] giveaway. Since only Red Shirts die…

You blow up a good portion of the ship (where all the windows are!!) and nobody dies. Uh huh.

Liked this one a lot. I would have liked the computer to suggest that their first offering of “compensation” was not enough, and Archer had to dicker with it for a moment. Archer: Jeez, now I’m haggling with a computer. (Looks at N’Pol for sympathy; gets none.)

Look at all the opportunities they (the writers) had to “cheat” on technology, giving grief to those few of us who still care about continuity. The replicators are a perfect example. They didn’t beg, borrow, or steal the technology. Site-to-site transport was used, but they’re still scared of the transporters, so I guess they wouldn’t look for upgrades. Lotsa stuff, and they only wanted OEM replacement parts.

I agree that it's one of the better eps so far. I also like that they have the continuity of needed repairs. The bit about the scratch from a year ago was pretty funny, too. I think it was meant to bring to mind the Borg, but not be early borg technology or anything. Like Eric F mentioned, the Borg are supposed to be around already, just way out in space. And there was no collective or shared thoughts or anything.

And strangely enough, this ep was more like an episode of The X Files than the last one, which was written by the prev. X-File writer. Strange, unexplained things going on, people try to stop it, eventually do stop it but don't find proof or the root of the prob, then the ending is kinda creepy, tobecontinuedesque.

Next week looks good...for me to poop on.

I didn't see the preview for next week. Anyone want to fill me in (with spoiler tags, of course )?

Spoiler:
It looks like some sort of "love" virus infects the ship--particularly the captain and T'Pol. Several fast clips showed the captain barechested and T'Pol leaning in for a kiss. It kinda looked like a dream sequence to me, but we'll see...

P. S. If you go here you can watch some video about next episode as well as read a synopsis. Ironically, it's not near as spicy as they showed in the previews...

You mean,
Spoiler:
we don't actually get to see N'Pol's boobs?

Last week, we were lead to believe that somebody would actually die in this ep.

The ending was an odd one, but the whole future guy plot is sinister and dark. There weren't many TNG episodes to end like that, but quite a few DS9 episodes towards the end of its run were like that. Especially that Federation cabal thing, I forget the name of the spy organization.

The only TNG overly creepy episodes were the two alien invasion ones from the first season (the one where they immolate the guy and the alien queen bursts out of Merrick's corpse), and that episode from the last season where Barkley turns into a spider.

The first Borg episodes were kind of creepy but 1st Contact and Voyager dilluted them by adding a Queen.

Actually the ending's not so odd once you realize that the writers at "Enterprise" will most likely never bring this spontaneously regenerating repair facility back up in a future episode. That's the new Trek "way."

I mean - what do mysterious, creepy, human-brain powered matter-energy converters have to do with showing "N'Pol's" sweaty ta-ta's?

Speaking of boobs, Mayweather had a pretty decent pair last night - wouldn't you say?

I'm not saying Mayweather's "headlights" were particularly attractive or anything.

I'm just saying: man, they were a couple handfuls over being just "pecs."

I'm still waiting to see what that homing beacon from TNG's first season ep Conspiracy brings...[Or did it happen during the end of the 6th/beginning of the 7th when I wasn't watching...]

While re-watching that ep on the DVD set, I was thinking what an excellent (and easy) storyline that would be for a Next Gen movie. Seems like they could make that pretty damn creepy and cinematic.

Maybe if Nemesis does well, Star Trek: Invasion could follow?

A little OT but I doubt we'll see another ST movie with the TNG cast. It would have to do really well, like ST IV well.

My expectations are fairly low for this one.

To the complete contrary, I expect it to be very good and the first in a 3 part trilogy to end the TNG franchise.
