The real question still remains: when and where will it play here? (I would think BBCAmerica being the obvious "where" answer)

turborobb 10-28-04 11:01 AM

I think they want to get it on a more high profile channel than BBCAmerica or PBS.

It hasn't been made since 1989 (with the exception of the TV movie in 1996), so that doesn't say a whole lot! :)

The last thing I heard was that either Bravo or A&E stood the best chance of getting it; I'd say either of those would be a good choice. Since Bravo is owned by NBC, if they got it there would probably be a good chance of the show airing on Sci-Fi eventually, since it also falls under the NBC umbrella.

Heh, true, but I was big on watching old episodes on public television, reading novelizations, etc.

I wonder what the TARDIS interior will look like. What was the deal with the huge control room in the TV movie?

They had a lot of money that they didn't know what to do with?

It's time for the Dr. to be an Indian Bloke or Black.
How about a gay Doctor?

Josh-da-man 10-28-04 08:43 PM

A black female Doctor... Thandie Newton.

(Now that's an idea I could get behind. Or under. Or on top of.)

Doctor Who - teaser trailer now UP!

The Official BBC site has a 30 second trailer for the new Doctor Who series. It's not much, but it does get my blood pumping!

For those of you who cant download the trailer - heres a discription of the action (spoilerized for your protection):

Spoiler:

The trailer start in space, panning to the left over the Earth, the moon in the background. The words 'It's Almost Time. . . .' type out on the screen.

The camera zooms down to the UK and you hear the Doctor say "I'm the Doctor, by the way. Whats youre name?" Rose then says "Rose,". The Doctor says "Very pleased to meet you, Rose." Then immediatly after that "Run for your life!"

The new logo scrolls across the screen as the Ron Grainer Dr Who theme starts. Cut to a street (possably old victorian) at night, as the Tardis takes off with a slightly diffrent dematerlization effect (pulsing in time with the Vworp! Vworp! as it fades). As the Tardis takes off, the words 'But not yet' appear. Then the picture winks off into a white dot like an old TV set being switched off.

Oh - good news. The trailer is letterboxed, lending support to the belief that the show is 16:9. Sweet.

This page has the teaser in AVI and MPEG2 formats, if realplayer doesnt sit well with you. . . .

Thanks. I'm wondering when we will get this in the US.

El-Kabong 12-03-04 03:39 PM

Well, I know that the lady in charge of the DVD releases in the US said that she was VERY keen on getting the show released here as soon as she could. So we wont have a long lag time between the UK premere and US release - I hope.

Lara Means 12-03-04 07:24 PM

this teaser is not worth watching

El-Kabong 12-04-04 12:11 AM

So, I'll bite - what exactly did you want from a teaser?

Palaver 12-04-04 09:55 AM

I got to hear the Doctor Who Theme music, so I'm happy.

turborobb 12-06-04 02:28 AM

Best sci fi series ever! The teaser is great, I can't wait to see it.

riley_dude 12-06-04 11:47 AM

I wanted more after watching it and isn't that what a teaser trailer is suppose to do?

Can't wait. Couldn't find any info about when it would be televised over here but then again I cant find any info as to when it is premiering in the UK either.

Keep up-to-date with the new Who series at: New Series News @ Outpost Gallifrey

It has everything you need to know about the new series. How many episodes. How long each episode is. 16X9. Series writers, directors and actors. And most importantly....WHEN the show premieres! It has a great FAQ for you to gander through.

So far: A press release on 12/1 from the BBC mentions the new Doctor Who series as part of the "Winter Highlights," noting the forthcoming series as being targeted for debut in 2005. "Acclaimed actor Christopher Eccleston hits our screens this winter as Doctor Who with Billie Piper as the Doctor's companion Rose Tyler. More details will be released early next year."

So sometime in winter, the Doctor will grace TV again.

Today's news is: The New Zealand television station Prime TV have announced that they've picked up the new Doctor Who series, according to a press release on their website.

So far no news on where the Doctor will turn up in America yet.

Well, he does sound like the Doctor I suppose :) Other than that, not much to report!

Chew 12-07-04 05:59 AM

Well, it's certainly named correctly: that was a big tease. :)
