If by "The Simpsons" you mean that hollow shell of a show that was funny years ago. Yes FOX is still clinging to that.
But i'm not going to sit around and watch FOX run this show into the ground anymore.
Once the "NEW" () episodes of Futurama are done i will never watch FOX again.

Yes, it's broadcast. In Fox's mind it is a network. But UPN also considers itself to be a network. My issue is with the word "major." IMO, there are only three. The others are only local affiliates with common programming.

The answer to the question is all subjective. This is no real answer.
UPN is the one I watch the least. I wish I could fall in love with Enterprise, but I have not been able to.
WB has Smallsvillie, which is the only show I really watch.
ABC has Alias, my wife loves this one.

FOX is a major network. They broadcast the championships of the 2 biggest pro sports in this country. They have common programming across affiliates every night of the week. UPN and the WB do not (I think).
The only thing that differentiates FOX from the other 3 is that they don't show national news in the morning or evening and their prime-time window is one hour shorter.

Unfortunately, FOX is a major network. It's the Big Four now.
UPN, WB, and PAX are all in significantly fewer markets and better represent the second tier of which you speak.

I don't know if I'd consider PAX a network. They are on UHF in my area. And they don't offer much for original programming. Maybe 2 shows? I don't know if those are even "PAX originals".
With that being said, I watch it occasionally for the old Cosby reruns when there is nothing else on.

They don't even have the UPN in St. Louis, the local WB just picks up certain shows that are supposed to be on the UPN on the weekend...How come PAX wasn't mentioned in the poll (obviously I didn't read everyone's posts)?

I don't really watch anything on NBC, so I voted for that. Although I have two episodes of Boomtown on my Replay TV I still need to check out. I saw the first ep of American Dreams but not sure if I'm going to keep watching.
Will also be checking out Birds of Prey (WB) and Girls Club (FOX).

I think that's it. I watch a lot of other shows periodically (particularly NBC shows just to verify that they still suck), but that's the list of shows I never miss. So I guess UPN is the most worthless of the six (well, really PAX would be the most worthless). But of the major players, NBC seems to be sitting at the bottom, and rightfully so. Apologies to the fate of the world ... I know my missing the next episode of Frasier spells doom for mankind, but then "it wouldn't be <insert NBC show here> without a twist/shocking ending."

das, I knew you watched a lot of TV. But can there possibly be enough hours in a week to watch all of that????
When do you find time to post?
I think I'm jealous.

You're not too far off.
But, where does one find the time to watch all that??

The dual-tuner DirecTiVo is a Godsend. I'll probably get another one shortly. As for how I watch it all ... the word is "multitasking" - I don't just sit and stare at the TV ... I do other stuff while watching. There's an art to making out on the couch and still watching The Sopranos without getting caught.
The Fall is the most difficult, because I haven't given up on the new shows yet, and I can't catch up on the weekends because of football. But it all works itself out, and the TiVo plays a big part. The split-screen on my WS RPTV helps too, particularly during sporting events.

AH! Split screen!
I hadn't thought of that (still being an AT&T Narrowband slave )
Multi-tasking means you've got a TV in the john, yes? (Please don't answer that. TMI. )

I voted for NBC. I rarely watch anything off that crappy network. Never been a huge Friends fan, but I'll watch it. The only other thing I'll consider is Will and Grace, but CBS Thursday line up is two strong to get me to go over to NBC. And with Push, Nevada intriguing me on ABC, NBC is left out in the cold.
