Most Useless Broadcast Network?

I don't watch one single Fox program - complete waste of a channel.

CBS (Survivor), UPN (Smackdown (sometimes)), and WB (D's Creek) each get at least one show out of me. ABC gets 2 (Drew & Whose Line) as does NBC (Friends & SNL).

I find myself watching cable more & more...

Iron Chef 10-07-02 11:49 AM

UPN

Red Dog 10-07-02 11:49 AM

WB for me. I only watch one WB show - Do Over - and this one will probably be canned by midseason.

ChiTownAbs, Inc 10-07-02 11:51 AM

Without a doubt, it's CBS... but they do have the NFL rights, so I give them some credit. Fox has all the NFC games ... plus 'That 70s Show'.

I mean, who really watches Judging Amy?? :p

UAIOE 10-07-02 11:56 AM

FOX, king of useless networks.

a close 2nd is ABC. Not a single show on that network screams "watch me".

milo bloom 10-07-02 02:25 PM

Actually, UPN, WB and Fox each have Buffy/Enterprise, Angel and Firefly. The "big three" don't have anything that I can think of off the top of my head.

If you turn on a TV in our house, 99% of the time it will be on Cartoon Network.

LBPound 10-07-02 02:29 PM

UPN

Meatpants 10-07-02 03:18 PM

Doesn't Fox still have The Simpsons?

Barring sports, CBS and ABC are totally worthless to me.

The only shows I watch are Buffy, Smallville, West Wing, and the WWE.

Yes

So again, there is not one show on Fox that I'm remotely interested in.

Rypro 525 10-07-02 03:29 PM

24 is on fox as well

DodgingCars 10-07-02 03:38 PM

CBS = Everybody Loves Raymond -- one of my favorite sitcoms & Letterman
NBC = Friends, Just Shoot Me, Frasier plus Conan O Brien & SNL
ABC = Drew and Whose Line
FOX = Simpsons, 70's show, Malcolm in the Middle, syndicated shows
WB = syndicated sitcoms, Gilmore Girls, 7th Heavan
UPN = ???

So I picked UPN... because for the most part there is nothing I watch on UPN. Easily the most useless network. But they may improbed. The WB did.

freedexter 10-07-02 04:59 PM

UPN has Buffy, and that's pretty much it. It really should have stayed on the WB.

Since the WB and UPN are newer networks, they obviously can't compete with the "big three". The other stations have been around for much longer, so it's not entirely fair to consider them useless.

IMO, with the except with a few sitcoms and "Alias", ABC is pretty much the loser network, with no real definite "hits", with maybe the exception of "The Practice", "NYPD Blue", and "Alias". Compared to the other networks, ABC kind of sucks. :o

Tscott 10-07-02 05:22 PM

Let's see, my current "must watch" list by network is...

ABC - Alias, The Pratice, NYPD Blue (3)
NBC - West Wing, Crossing Jordan, ER (3)
FOX - 24, Firefly, John Doe (3)
UPN - Buffy, Enterprise (2)
WB - Gilmore Girls, Angel (2)
CBS - ? (0)

So CBS wins(?) out. Although, I will say that Raymond, Yes Dear, CSI and the like are OK time wasters- if I happen to be in front of the TV at the time with nothing else on, but nothing in these shows demands that I keep returning to them every week.

Venusian 10-07-02 05:25 PM

pax?

Alyoshka 10-07-02 05:53 PM

The ladies in CSI demand that I continue to return to it. I also still like Survivor.

WB has Gilmore Girls. While NBC has Conan.

UPN is the loser in my opinion.

UPN and WB shouldn't not be considered or compared with
the major four networks.

They don't have the money or anything else for that matter.

Three networks. Fox is not a "broadcast" network. There is too much inbreeding with FX.

UPN doesn't even have affiliates in a lot of places. Nor do they have a Sunday schedule.

WB is the closest to being a broadcast net, but doesn’t have a national news program, which, IMO, is what separates the major three from the others.

If it’s news at 10, it ain’t major then.

Goat3001 10-07-02 10:41 PM

UPN without a doubt. None of their shows are watchable IMO.

Did somebody forget to put PAX in the list?

For me, there's:

CBS - Survivor
ABC - Alias
NBC - Law & Order
FOX - Simpsons
UPN - Enterprise

and my personal vote,

WB - Nothing

Wag The Frog 10-07-02 11:06 PM

TNN

Oh, you mean broadcast network. Sorry, it's just whenever I hear the words "useless" and "network" I automatically think of the BLACK BAR OF DOOM MORONS(TM).

Wizdar 10-07-02 11:12 PM

Black bar? You haven't seen the CSI banners? They shine. They shimmer. They dance in the light. They suck.

Actually, if you want to name the most useless of all:

The Weather Channel.

;)

Jackskeleton 10-07-02 11:22 PM

I would say WB is the waste lands for me

PAX actually isn't even offered as a broadcast station in many places. I get it, as a cable channel, but I noticed it's available in LA as an affiliate channel. Really, I don't think there's enough original programming for it to barely count, many shows on UPN and WB don't reach chart, ratings wise. It's all ABC/NBC/CBS/FOX.

HistoryProf 10-08-02 12:07 AM

PAX is easily the most useless...it was broadcast in Phoenix when I lived there....completely worthless channell.....but UPN runs a close second...so that was my pick.

MvRojo 10-08-02 01:18 AM

Even though I watch more UPN than the WB (Buffy/Enterprise vs. Gilmore Girls), I have to admit that UPN is a $hitty a$$ network.
