Anyone watch "That Was Then"?
It was no classic, but I thought it was pretty good. Definately worth continued watching. I was amazed how similar the plot was to the debut episode of "Do Over". Almost identical in many ways. One difference that is pretty cool in "That was Then" is the main characters ability to go back in time, but then go back to the present to see how he's changed things. And if things are still screwed up, he can go back again to give it another shot.
I was annoyed by his best friend. Anyone else get the feeling they were watching a bad Jack Black impersonation?

The Jack Black impression was so weird. I like that actor so I actually enjoyed his performance, but I wish he didn't try so hard to be like Jack Black. I had to go to the imdb to figure out who it was because he looks so different. I wish Dead Last had continued; I really liked that show.
As for the rest of the show, just like the Jack Black impression was too over the top a lot of the other characters were also too goofy. I wasn't going to try either of these shows, but I caught the rerun of "That Was Then" tonight. I was surprised how much I enjoyed the dramatic aspects, but I'm not that interested in tuning in again.

Yeah. Aside from the more dramatic tone and the back-and-forth nature, it was near identical to Do Over.
The second episode of Do Over was quite entertaining, so I'll stick with it for a while. That Was Then wasn't spectacular, but it had a hopeful quality and some dramatic strength. It deserves at least a second look from me if not more. The introduction of the nephew was what made me really start paying attention. If Claudia and his brother don't have a child, that kid is never born. While that's pretty obvious, seeing the show introduce the character that way made me realize the writers are going to take some chances.

P.S. Jack Black should sue.

yeah, i agree, das. The nephew aspect is really interesting. It brings a whole different aspect to the show that the other do it over doesn't seem to have. i definitely think that i'll watch a couple more episodes to give it a chance although i felt like i was watching groundhog day meets quantum leap sometimes.
i could have done without the jack black impressions though. if i want to see jack black in high school, i'll watch airborne.

I thought it was good - I will watch again- but wonder how they can come up with enough scenarios to maintain a season or more... will be intersting though.

It was okay. Quantum Leap but within the lead character's own life. At least Quantum Leap was able to add variety by changing stories/characters every week. The formula for this show can get monotonous real fast.
